Slay Your Dragon With The Warrior Mindset

Slay Your Dragon With The Warrior Mindset

Today, Paula Christine welcomes Mark Booher, a former soldier with a background in intelligence who is now a licensed attorney. Mark's unique journey takes us from his early enlistment in the Army at the age of 19, driven by a passion for the military, to his transition into law school following injuries and disillusionment with the practice of law. Despite his varied roles, Mark's unwavering love for the military remained a constant throughout his career.

The heart of the discussion centers around the concept of a "warrior mindset," a topic that has always fascinated Paula. Mark sheds light on this mindset, emphasizing that it encompasses more than just physical strength. It involves a holistic approach to life, characterized by discipline, courage, and self-mastery, all tied to a higher purpose and sense of duty. Drawing from historical examples, Mark highlights how ancient warriors balanced physical prowess with spiritual growth and self-discovery, resonating with the idea that true warriors conquer their internal struggles before external ones.

Paula raises a pertinent question: How can someone without military experience cultivate a warrior mindset? Mark's response revolves around adopting the right framework, and embracing struggle, sacrifice, and discomfort as essential ingredients for growth. Drawing parallels with the hero's journey, Mark explains how facing challenges, seeking knowledge, and overcoming obstacles are integral to developing this mindset. Both hosts discuss the significance of personal growth in alignment with community betterment, and Mark stresses the importance of striking a balance between individual achievement and communal contribution.

Living Life UNAFRAID with Eddie Penney

Living Life UNAFRAID with Eddie Penney

Eddie Penney is an esteemed and highly decorated former U.S. Navy SEAL turned entrepreneur who has devoted his life to the pursuit of excellence and service to his country. Additionally, he is a Warrior Mindset Mentor, Speaker, Motivator, and CEO of Contingent Group, a company providing customized, adaptive, and flexible risk mitigation solutions in the form of a full-service consulting, development, and implementation security company serving in both foreign and domestic capacities.

Recently, he joined Larry on the Dad Edge Podcast and candidly discussed his journey of becoming a father, touching on his own dad's lack of involvement in his upbringing. Furthermore, he delved into the generation of fathers before him who solely strived to provide and explained how he needed to learn from scratch when it came to raising his own four sons.

Choosing to live unafraid is a powerful decision that can enable us to make the most of our lives. This approach involves embracing the unknown, taking risks that can help us grow, confronting our fears, seizing opportunities, and being open to learning from our mistakes.

Consequently, by living unafraid, we can become more confident, courageous, and resilient. Additionally, we can achieve greater success in our endeavors, as we are more likely to take risks and make bold decisions.

Ultimately, by investing time in our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical growth, we can become better versions of ourselves and lead more fulfilling lives.

Ep. 23 Part 3 at The Tactical Games Nationals

Day 3 at the Tactical Games. The final day of the games was packed with hard obstacles and great interviews. We couldn't stay long since we had to catch a flight, but we got in some great guests.

First, we sat down with The Tactical Games duo, Tim Burke and Sarah (yes we got her on), and broke down the weekend. Next, the one and only, Jake Mizell, from Triple C Range, who was the weekend's Match Director. And of course after she made buttons for the podcast, we had to sit and talk with TG competitor, Sabine, and her mother to get a their view of the weekend. Then we spoke to the owner of an up and coming company, Rescue Site, who is attempting to summit every peak in the USA with his wife. Next, If you’re a competitor you need to be following, Tes - Shoot for Gold, a professional competitive shooter and 5x TG winner. She tells us what it is like being a competitive shooter for most of her life and how she got into the Tactical Games. Last but not least, we spoke to TG athlete, Dirk the Dentist. A dude who wore a kilt to an event is a must have guest.

A great last day and even better weekend. Thank you to all the athletes and our guests. You are are as uncommon as it gets.

Ep. 20 Average Joes Range Day

Ep. 20 Average Joes Range Day

Have you ever wondered what the mindset of others before self could obtain? Well Average Joes Range Day is an example of individuals who came together for the betterment of others.

We had the opportunity to spend the day hanging at Triple C Range for Average Joes Range Day. To say we were blown away with this group of individuals is such an understatement. We always say Uncommon, but what was special about this day was the common goal of individuals coming together through community. One person, one round at a time, relationships were built.

How can we change the culture? How can we become better? How do we reach the unknown? Well the answer is events such as Average Joes Range Day. It wasn't about race, gender, status, or where you came from, it was about coming together to become better.

If you listened to episode 19 with Jimmy Rodriguez you would hear the sincerity of the OG's and in the creation of this event. If only more people took time out of their day to create positive influences through relationships. You want to change the world, you start with one average person at a time.

Thank you to everyone for allowing us to come out and highlight this movement. And yes this is a movement, a movement uncommon in and of itself.

Thank you to our sponsors for this episode, Triple C Range and Triarc Systems. You can find links to their websites below.

Ep. 19 JimsGoonLife (Jimmy Rodriguez) at Triarc Systems

Today we have an awesome episode drop for you! With Average Joes coming up at Triple C Range we thought it was more than fitting to sit down and talk to the Average OG himself, Jimmy Rodriguez.

We traveled back down to TRIARC Systems and sat down with Jimmy and TRIARC Systems very own, Valerie. Jimmy has an awesome story and testimony on how he got started within the industry. From leading a church as a pastor, to working in a gun shop, to becoming and incredible photographer and videographer.

We had the opportunity to take a deep dive into what Average Joes is and what it means to the firearms industry. The goal is improving the industry one average joe at a time. We also spoke about issues we see within the industry and how TRIARC and events like Average Joes are changing the culture for good. We hope you tune in, especially if you are attending Average Joes, or are a new gun owner.

Thank you to Triple C Range and TRIARC for supporting this episode!

Ep. 17 Relentless Leadership Part 1

Ep. 17 Relentless Leadership Part 1

In episode 17 Relentless Leadership Part 1, we traveled back down to Relentless Defender HQ in Houston, Texas to speak with Owner and CEO, Aaron Slater, on leadership. In the world we live in we are seeing leadership fail all across our country. For so long we have thought as leadership as the people above us. Slater has an awesome take on how leadership starts from the front line rather than the upper echelon. Imagine a generation of selfless leaders that took it upon themselves to lead from every assignment instead of waiting to lead once rank was applied. Now more than ever we need this message in our county. This was such an interesting episode we had to make it a two-part series. We will be traveling back down there soon to finish this awesome conversation on leadership.

Ep. 16 with Jonas Polson and Triarc Systems

Ep. 16 with Jonas Polson and Triarc Systems

Last week we headed back down to Triarc Systems in Mansfield, TX where we had the opportunity to speak with not only Triarc's own Chris Reeves, but also Triarc's Training Director, Jonas Polson and owner of Tactical Options. Jonas brought an incredible story of service and selflessness to the episode. He served in the U.S. Army both in the Rangers and the elite Green Berets. The perspective of these two warriors was captured perfectly. We ran the gamut in this episode, from Jonas’s first mission on Roberts Ridge as a 19-year-old Army Ranger to raising children in today’s world. We were humbled by this opportunity and can’t wait for you to listen to this incredible episode.

Although both Chris and Jonas are no longer in the military their service to others has not stopped. With both of them being leaders in the firearm industry, we believe this episode brings the much-needed human aspect to an industry filled with superficial advertisement and "innovative" fakeness. We can assure you Jonas, Chris and both of their brands (Triarc Systems and Tactical Options) are the farthest thing from superficial or fake. These are two real guys with very real companies, that stand apart as uncommon in an industry filled with “innovative" commonness.  Episode 16 with Jonas Polson and Triarc Systems available on all podcast platforms.

    Ep. 15 Greg Amundson

We had no clue this was how episode 15 with @GregAmundson was going to go and we are pumped to share it with you.

Greg takes a deep dive into what he believes it means to be a warrior in today’s society. With his life being led by faith and the guiding principles of the warrior way, Greg sheds light on the warrior mindset and what it means to find your true north.

We couldn’t begin to fit all that this LEO, Crossfit Firebreathing Legend has done into one episode, but we believe you get to experience an hour or so of what makes up Greg Amundson and his drive, passion, beliefs and purpose.

We hope that you all will take the time to listen and think about what it means to live a warriors life and what the warrior is facing in today’s society. Tune into Ep. 15 with Greg Amundson, available on all Podcast platforms. Stay Safe, Stay Switched On and Stay Uncommon.

Ep. 9 David Vobora from Adaptive Training Foundation

Ep. 9 David Vobora from Adaptive Training Foundation

How many of you think our world needs more gutsy, bold, disruptive leaders? Our next speaker believes we do and is here to show us how we can embody this type of leadership.

David Vobora grew up with a football in his hands and the NFL in his dreams. His path to the NFL, however, was anything but simple. After playing football at the University of Idaho, he was the last pick in the 2008 draft earning him the not-so- coveted title of Mr. Irrelevant. David used this underestimation of his skills and abilities to his advantage during his 4-year career with the St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks.

David’s career wasn’t over after he hung up his jersey in 2012. On the contrary, it was just beginning. Upon retiring from the NFL, he opened Performance Vault — a sports performance training center aimed at helping rebuild wounded warriors whose potential was grossly unrecognized by society. At Performance Vault, he emphasized strength training, a tribal mindset, and the ability to use one’s underdog status to their advantage.

Soon after, David met quadruple amputee and military veteran, Travis Mills. This chance encounter led to an explosion of growth at Performance Vault and the launch of a non-profit organization called Adaptive Training Foundation

The growth trajectory at ATF has been astounding. They’ve built a world class team and they now operate out of an 18,000 square foot facility in Dallas, Texas.

David’s desire to pour his heart, mind, and soul into everything he does has resulted in a new industry standard for training those with physical disabilities. ATF’s first-of- its-kind Train the Trainer program provides physically disabled people access to equal means of physical fitness.

David has an unmatched ability to connect with people. He genuinely believes in others until they believe in themselves. He has the gift of making people feel loved for who they are and not for what they do or what they can provide.

David is a hope dealer, an alchemist of human development, and a sweat psychologist. He always has one eye on personal and foundational growth, the other eye ensuring no one is left behind in the process, and both feet firmly planted in the present.

And we’re grateful he is here with us today. Please join me in welcoming David Vobora.
