    S01 E12: Wannabe (aka Friends 4Ever)

Becca and Robyn are back, and they're ready to join the spirit squad and eat as many Pringles as possible! Our two fabulous hosts discuss the twelfth episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation Season 1, in which our queen Manny Santos shows off her impeccable cartwheeling ability, but doesn't really do any other tricks. Emma is unimpressed with Manny's desire to join Paige's spirit squad, and this causes a rift between the besties. Meanwhile, Spinner joins forces with Liberty, JT, and Toby in an attempt to win one million dollars. This episode of Trail Mix features classic segments such as "Song for the Star" and "Time Travel," a special message from Robyn's brother Max and her cousin Paul, and a sudden epiphany from Becca regarding her own similarities to JT.

EP 49. What Does Primus Have to Do With the Beatles?

It was 20 years ago today that Keith and Steve saw Oysterhead at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, and almost 20 days ago that Steve saw Primus perform at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. The lead singer of Primus Les Claypool was also in a movie called Pig Hunt with Keith and Steve's good friend Trevor (spoiler alert: Trevor's character dies in the movie). Anyway, Keith & Steve try to answer the age old question, does Primus suck?

    052 - Brandon & Sarah's Top 5 Song Lists

Brandon and Sarah talk about their choices for top 5 (or so) songs, some of the history and drama behind the songs and videos, and as usual, they embark on some interesting tangents.

    U2 - “One”
    https://youtu.be/JFWPeVfWB9o

Three music videos were created for "One" by U2. The first, directed by Anton Corbijn, was filmed in Berlin and features the band members performing at Hansa Studios interspersed with footage of Trabants (an East German automobile they became fond of as a symbol for a changing Europe) and shots of them dressed in drag. However, the band pulled the video, fearing the single's status as an AIDS benefit would result in critics finding AIDS-related interpretations of the video.

Start Today: A Conversation with Karina Rykman (S2-EP19)

Join RJ and Alec as they welcome a very special guest, Karina Rykman, for a discussion on the live music scene and the affect COVID-19 has had on the music industry.

Rykman brings a contagious energy to everything she does, whether in learning from  Dave Dreiwitz (Ween), playing with Marco Benevento, or creating her solo music projects and this episode does an amazing job capturing it live and unfiltered.

The episode is a must-listen for any concert-going or fan of live music.  It's also a great episode for entrepreneurs young and old, as Karina drops some serious knowledge on having the confidence to create and the importance of learning how to take the first step.

    EP 32. Going to Polygondwanaland

A wise man said, a little less talk a little more action. Not wanting to upset Elvis, the Dads spend most of this episode listening to Polygondwanaland, the 12th studio album from Australian psych-rockers King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. EP 26. Why Don't 5-Year Olds Listen to Cat Power?

One of the perks of being a parent is the ability to exert your influences on them. You literally have the power to determine what language they use, their view of the world, whether to call them Kleenex or tissues, and most importantly--what kind of music they listen to.

Do you just blast them with Kids Bop, Disney Radio and Little Einsteins? Or do you survey the history of music, culling the best sounds from the past seven decades, in the hopes that they will develop a love and appreciation for the classic?

I think you already know the path that the dads at The New Dad Rock chose; Ween!

In this week's episode, Steve unearths a mix he made his 5-year old daughter over a decade ago. From forgotten blog-approved contemporaries (The Black Kids) to 80s hits (Madonna) to timeless standards (Rosemary Clooney), they cover it all.

    Think of the children!

and while you're at it, check out these songs that are great for kids!
    The Sound by Human Highway
    Dirty Work by Steely Dan
Just Dropped In to See What Condition My Condition Was In by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition

EP 24. Butthole Surfers: The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt

Despite being a child of the 80s and hip to the freaky stylings of such pranksters as Ween, Primus and Extreme Elvis, Keith still doesn't quite understand the Butthole Surfers. Fear not, Steve can take him gently off the rails into the annals of this acid-soaked punk miasma. This one is not for the faint of heart.

That being said, here is a selection of some of the prettier Butthole Surfers songs:

    Rocky From Hairway to Steven
