Ryan Gore is the president of the Derby City Whisker Club out of Louisville KY. We sat down and talked about their upcoming "Whiskermania 3" event and also the previous years of this wrestling themed beard and mustache contest. Ryan is quite an interesting fella and I love finding common interests with someone other than beards when I interview them! There are some pretty big named and accomplished judges for this event, and Aaron Johnston to round it off. The hardest hitting beard and moustache championship in the land is back for round three! In a bigger venue, on a bigger stage, with even bigger beards - this is an event you won't want to miss!
We will be supporting Active Heroes again this year! They are a great charity that helps aid military families and works to prevent veteran suicide.

Fake Facial Hair:
Fake Fantastic
Craft beards and/or mustaches made from any materials you can get your hands on.
Fake Realistic
Fake beard and/or mustache strives to look as natural and realistic as possible.
Mustache:
Natural Mustache
Mustache may be styled but without styling aids. The hairs are allowed to start growing from up to a maximum of 1.5 cm beyond the end of the upper lip. No styling aids are allowed.
Styled Mustache
Mustache may be styled with styling aids. The hairs are allowed to start growing from up to a maximum of 1.5 cm beyond the end of the upper lip. This category includes classic styles like the Dali, English, Handlebar and everything in between.
Partial Beard:
Chops
All sideburns with shaved chin. Unstyled mustache allowed. No styling aids allowed.
Goatee
Facial hair grown only on chin, upper and lower lip. Beard and mustache may be styled but without aids. No styling aids allowed. Mustache not required.
Whaler
Unbroken unshaven area from temple to chin to temple. Upper lip clean shaven. No styling aids allowed.
Partial Beard w/ Styled Mustache
All partial beards not matching other classes will be considered partial beard w/ styled mustache if the moustache is styled. Styling aids are allowed on the mustache only.
Partial Beard Freestyle
All partial beards not matching other classes will be considered partial beard freestyle. Styling aids are allowed.
Full Beard:
Natural: 0 to 4 inches
Full beard under 4 inches as measured from the bottom lip. As grown, mustache integrated. No styling aids allowed.
Natural: 4 to 8 inches
Full beard between 4 and 8 inches as measured from the bottom lip. As grown, mustache integrated. No styling aids allowed.
Natural: 8 to 12 inches
Full beard between 8 and 12 inches as measured from the bottom lip. As grown, mustache integrated. No styling aids allowed.
Natural: 12 inches plus
Full beard over 12 inches as measured from the bottom lip. As grown, mustache integrated. No styling aids allowed.
Full Beard Under 5 inches w/ Styled Mustache
Full beard under 5 inches as measured from the bottom lip. Only mustache can be styled with aids and may start growing from up to maximum of 1.5 cm beyond the end of the upper lip.

Tag Team Championship
What does it take to become a WhiskerMania Tag Team you might ask. Well do you and a friend like to dress up as your favorite wrestlers? Or just like to wear themed costumes in general? Or are you a Whiskerina tht likes to dress as your favorite Whisker? Or vice versa? Well all these things make for a perfect WhiskerMania Tag Team! *Please note that if you choose to compete in this category, you WILL be allowed to compete in another regular category that evening.
Best Club
Awarded to the club with the most members registered to compete.
Best In Show
Awarded to the competitor with the highest individual score.
*Styling aid=wax, gel, hairspray, glue, bacon grease, ear wax, you get the picture
