Robyn Crawford Has A Song For You

This was A SHOW. There may need to be a part two in fact. Kirk chats with long-time friend and warm hugger (you have to listen in to get it) Robyn Crawford, on the heels of the release of her memoir, A Song For You - My Life with Whitney Houston. It was a beautiful energy exchange with a palpable openness, honesty and authenticity that you have to hear for yourself.

    Whitney Houston - Stage Stairway 4:14:22 3.21PM

    Whitney Houston - Stage Stairway 4:14:22 3.21PM
    Story by: Gail Nobles

Hello! I’m Gail Nobles and you’re listening to the Whitney Soul Podcast. Yea, people are still talking about Whitney Houston. Talking about how she couldn’t dance. But Whitney didn’t need that dance. She was moved to perform with what she was given. She made you dance instead singing, I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Whitney had church power in her voice. It was something that a lot of other singers didn’t have. She dint have to make it the way that they made it. And when she performed, all she had to do was walk up and down the stage, and the audience was still moved by her singing, but not only that, she moved up the stairway and down the stairs 🎶. And every time she went up the stairs, she knew she had to pray. She was in the spotlight of the world. And while Whitney was on top, the people wanted to boo. The craziest thing.
So there were times when she came down the stairs wanting a break and to get away from the stage. And it wasn’t because she didn’t do a great job singing.

Whitney Houston continued to receive awards. She received many for her great performance and work. But it was nothing like the work and reward spiritually waiting for her. The kind of work where you don’t get tired, and the kind of award that is everlasting.

Some people made fun of Whitney and tried to put her down still. She moved up the stairway and down the stairs 🎶. Like Soul to Soul. She kept on moving, and she didn’t stop until she was called to retire. Whitney was trying to make a living. That was her earthly job. Singing. But man will work you to death, and Whitney doesn’t have to go up and down those stage stairways anymore. And when Whitney was here, she didn’t have to dance. It was never intended for her to be overworked.

Dancing and singing with the mic in your hand requires more work. Bouncing up and down and trying to sing too. She concentrated mostly on her singing because a singer is what she was. I’m not saying she couldn’t learn to dance. Whitney Houston gave us what a lot of other singers weren’t giving us. She gave us voice with music.

Physically, she’s not here with us, but spiritually she’s still moving us. Still making us talk about her. Ain’t that something? She’s been gone since 2012. Whitney Houston is the most talked about singer that I’ve ever known. Newsmakers still got her in the news. Moviemakers still trying to make movies about her. Tribute artists trying to sing like her and keeping the legacy going. Whitney’s got us moving up the stairway and down the stairs.

I’m Gail Nobles and you’re listening to the Whitney Soul podcast.

Hello! This is Gail Nobles on the Whitney Soul Podcast. Whitney Houston had a beautiful smile I miss hearing her laugh. She had a beautiful voice. I wish she were still here to sing.

Song: She covered up with a smile
    Nobody else had her style
She stood out from the crowd
    She took a courtesy bow.
    (Cover Girl)

She covered up with a hood
I couldn’t tell if her life was good
    On bad weather days
    She was kind
    The people say

Have you heard the news lately?
I guess M.A.C. Stands for Make-Up Art Cosmetics.
There is some talk about Whitney Houston with a new make-up line. It is said according to Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-n-law that Whitney had previously wanted to evolve into the cosmetics industry.

It’s amazing how things can happen for people when they are not here. Maybe Whitney Houston said a little prayer for her family and others to be blessed before she left.

A new make-up line in partnership with Whitney Houston’s Estate sounds nice. But you know what, when Whitney Houston was alive, in my opinion, she had a beautiful smile beyond make- up though she wore make-up. She was beautiful with and without it. Whitney Houston was every woman. The cosmetic line sounds like a good idea. I’m sure Whitney Houston would have wanted a line created for all women and their needs.

This is Gail Nobles on the Whitney Soul Podcast. Whitney Houston has been gone since 2012. People are still grieving that they lost her. Sometimes I want to say more about her death and how things seemed pretty ironic. But something keeps telling me to (singing) Leave It As It Is.

I’ve heard several people say that when they had heard Whitney Houston had passed, they had just had a conversation with her. When I had heard about her death, it seemed like a very cold & unfair & mean moment. There was no warning. Whitney was just gone.

When I heard about how Whitney died in the bathtub, the first thing I thought was someone had murdered her. I had heard during that time that something was going on with her daughter too, Bobbi Christina. Nothing made sense to me, and I believe that something went down in that hotel with Whitney.

I was looking to see a big investigation. I was looking to see it constantly on the news because I thought there was more to the story than what was being told. And sometimes the story didn’t seem to add up.

Then there were documentaries made about Whitney. We can only go by what was told to us, but I still don’t know. I saw no body being buried. There was no open casket, and I was not around to see what happened to Whitney Houston. I guess I’ll never know, and it will always bother me because I didn’t see. It would have been better for me to see though it would have hurt me even more.

I miss Whitney Houston and all of her fans I’m sure do too. It might seem like a long ways away, but we will see her again someday. Something keeps telling me not to worry and Leave It As It Is

On the Whitney Soul Podcast, today’s topic is Aaliyah. Be of good cheer. According to the good book, they’ll be resurrection & she’ll rise again.

    No journey to the past
    There will be tomorrow
    Not yesterday
    (Get up)
    Like a pilot
    She’s coming our way
    Coming back to stay

Whitney Houston was an Aaliyah fan. She said she loved her voice and thought her songs were great for the new breed of music that came in. Whitney said Aaliyah was perfect for Sparkle and that she wanted it and prepared for it. But Aaliyah had a tragic end. It made Whitney very sad.

Whitney Houston was Aaliyah number one favorite singer. She really influenced Aaliyah, and just think about it. They were going to make a movie together. Aaliyah was going to work with Whitney Houston. She was reaching her goals and moving towards the future.

Have you heard Aaliyah’s unreleased song, Giving Up? It is a song that was intended for the movie Sparkle. It is a cover that she created of the Donny Hathaway song. Aaliyah had a great singing voice and she didn’t have to shout to prove it. She was a different kind of singer. We don’t need all of our singers to sound the same. Aaliyah had a beautiful and natural voice.

I love the way Aaliyah sang Journey to the Past. But they’ll be no Journey to the past. God has a greater future for his people, and he knows best. The movie Sparkle just wasn’t intended for Aaliyah or it would have happened.

Sometimes the future we plan might not be so good. God looks ahead. He looked ahead of Aaliyah’s life, and he looked ahead of Whitney Houston’s life. In this wicked world, there’s no need to worry. God knows what he’s doing when he makes a decision. We’re gonna see each other again one day soon. That day is near.

Whitney Houston - Better Place 1:16:2022 2.18 PM
    Beginning Orchestra by: Gail Nobles
    Heartbeat by: Gail Nobles
    Quotes by: Whitney Houston

I’m Gail Nobles, and you’re listening to the Whitney Soul Podcast. You know Whitney said a lot of things for us to remember.

She said: The world talk about me. I love y’all, but I don’t live for y’all. …. When you’re older, you learn what it’s about to relax and enjoy. You’re not so young; not so eager. Some of the mistakes you made are gone. They’re over!”

Those are the words of Whitney. Yea, she’s resting now. Resting in peace. She tried to talk to us. She tried to laugh and share with us on stage when she was here. Those that got a chance to meet Whitney and talk with Whitney, you were blessed. We should cherish every moment that we have with someone.

Whenever we saw the look of depression on Whitney Houston’s face, that was a sign right there. She was telling us, I’m tired y’all. Too much is upon me. She would go: Woo! Oh bless the Lord. Have I sang enough?”

Whitney Houston talked about all the friends she lost. She said: This doesn’t make any sense. We’re not suppose to see our children die before us.”

But, I suppose she understood before she left this world because as you get closer to God, you can see a lot of things. I know.

She said: I believe there’s a better place. Got to be better than this.”

And she was right. And that’s what I see. As I look out across the field standing on my back porch, I know I’m going to go someday too. And I understand that place and why Whitney wanted to be there.

    Actor: I was Born free
    (Singing)

Actor: And I always want to know that I am
    (Singing) I was born free

That’s one of the quotes by Whitney Houston according to what I see written under some of her photos by the fans. I don’t remember hearing Whitney say those words but whether she did or didn’t, Whitney would often say that quote in so many words.

Whitney said that she wasn’t self-destructive. That she was not a person that wanted to die. That she was a person that had life and wanted to live. And those words always stayed with me.

It’s good that we have Whitney Houston fans to help us to remember. And if Whitney said that she was born free, she was letting you know that she needed to be the person that she really was.

I’d like to say to all the Whitney Houston fans online and everywhere, keep it up! Don’t forget about Whitney. It’s alright. Just don’t put her above God. And the Lord will be with you. Whitney and Mariah Carey said there can be miracles if you believe.

Some people say with an attitude: Oh, Whitney is dead. Don’t you know she dead?

If Whitney is with the Lord, her life is far from over. Some people don’t know nothing about God. I’m glad Whitney Houston did. Who knows what God has in mind? Who knows what he might have in store?

Some people say: Whitney didn’t want to live. She was on that dope.

But you can’t always go by what you see. It may not have been what you saw.

Well, we know Whitney Houston is free now. And people are doing all the things she said they would do. Writing books about her. Making movies. But that’s alright. They ain’t disturbing Whitney. Heaven is way up there and the worldly things are way down here. Whitney’s got a new business. And all the negative things that people were saying about Whitney, she might have been hurting when she was with us, but she ain’t hurting now. Sometimes people think that they are hurting somebody, but they are only hurting themselves. Whitney is just like she was born to be. She’s alive in your heart. You’ll see her again.

Whitney Houston & Deborah Cox 10:10:21 1.17 PM

Whitney Houston & Deborah Cox 10:10:21 1.17 PM
    Song: Same Script, Different Cast
By: Whitney Houston featuring Deborah Cox

    Podcast music: by Gail Nobles
    Vocals by: Gail Nobles

Life is full of drama. It makes you wonder how you’re the actor when you start to feel pain. When the tears are real. Tables begin to turn, and we all have a role to play. Same Script, Different Cast by Whitney Houston Featuring Deborah Cox.

    (Singing)

In the song, Whitney said it’s a retake of her life, and she tries to warn Deborah that the same thing that he did to her, he was going to do to her too. Yea, it’s like they are all on a stage. It’s like a game that’s played and a movie being made. They come and they go. It’s all one big show, but the ones that hurt puts into it the soul and the mind. Hearts are broken. It’s all there in life, and acted out all at the same time.

Whitney saiid: Yea, I played that script before. And Deborah wasn’t trying to listen. ( He told me that he loved me).

You see, Whitney know now. She was like saying listen to what I tell you. He was my man. In the song, Deborah wants to Cary on still. Telling Whitney that it’s her fault. That she didn’t love him enough, and Whitney would come right back with words saying: That’s the problem. I loved him too much. See, Whitney tried to tell her, but we have those women that know your man better than you do. Think they know him.

Anyway, Same Script, Different Cast was released as a radio- only promo single and no video was made. Of course, there are fan made videos. The song was a minor hit on Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 70 while reaching number 14 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs. The song was also very successful on Hot Dance Club Play, peaking at number 4.

In my opinion, I think it is a very good song because the words Same Script, Different Cast is what really got my attention. The words describe a love life relationship, and it’s a good way to describe it according to the song.

Deborah and Whitney sound great together. They were like acting, singing, and telling a story. A soap opera story. They made a great duet.

I’m Gail Nobles. Be sure to listen to the original song Same Script, Different Cast on Spotify. In the mean time, I’m gonna sound off the podcast way. After all, it’s just a show. It’s drama you see. Goodbye friends. You’re listening to the Whitney Soul Podcast.

    Another Heartbreak (Another Hotel)

Good evening. You’re listening to the Whitney Soul Podcast, and I’m your host, Gail Nobles. Today’s topic: Another Heartbreak (Another Hotel). First, it was MJ. Then it was Whitney, and this is a podcast intro.

    (Music)

That was just an intro for the show but Whitney Houston had a heartbreak hotel song of her own to sing with Faith Evans and Kelly Price. To hear it, you can listen on Spotify and YouTube. The song was released as the second single from Houston’s 1998 album, My Love Is Your Love. Whitney also had sung a little bit of Jackson’s version of Heartbreak Hotel live in concert back in 1999. She was awesome. She could throw down on some Michael Jackson songs. I’m wondering did Michael say anything to her about it. And he should of made a record with Whitney. But it didn’t happen. It’s good to know that they were friends. Two gifted people. However, Whitney Houston never tried to be anyone else in singing.

She said, “ I got my licks from my mom. My mother, Cissy Houston. … So when everyone tries to figure out who I sound like, I don’t sound like anyone apart from my mother.”

And so, singing her own version of Heartbreak Hotel, the song reached number two on the US Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart on Feb. 2, 1999. Heartbreak Hotel was certified Platinum by RIAA. It was also a hit in many countries worldwide. The song received two nominations at the 2000 Grammy Awards for the Best R&B song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The video was nominated for Best R&B Video at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.

We got a Whitney Houston story. We got another version of another heartbreak of another hotel written down in music history.

Song: I Learned From the Best
    Song by: Whitney Houston
    Podcast vocals: Gail Nobles

Today’s topic: Whitney Houston and the character TNT Jackson.

Whitney could have played many female characters. She had personality. Whitney Houston was heading more for movies in her singing career. Her first movie was the Bodyguard in 1992. It was a box office hit. Whitney always looked like an action film kind of woman to me. I think it would have been exciting to see Whitney in a Kung Fu kind of film. She probably would have had to take some Kung Fu lessons which I believe would have been good to learn because Kung Fu isn’t just about fighting. It teaches self discipline. And maybe Whitney could have done a remake of the TNT Jackson movie starring Jeanne Bell.

The film is about Diana Jackson (aka TNT) who learns her brother is missing. She suspects a powerful gangster and his friends are behind the disappearance. Determined to get at the truth, she goes to Hong Kong, and along with a friend named Joe, wages was on the criminal gang she’s out to nail.

In real life, it is said that Whitney Houston knew how to fight. If she had played the role of TNT Jackson, she would have known what it was like to have a brother because she had two. And she would have known something about fighting.

In real life, Whitney Houston knew about business, and she knew how dirty it could be. In the film TNT Jackson, she probably wouldn’t have had any problems acting out some of the parts.

Like TNT, Whitney would let you know what she was about. And sometimes very frank. The character TNT Jackson was angry and went after the smooth talking bad guy that you just heard in the clip.

Whitney Houston knew all about men too. The bad guy in film is actor Stan Shaw playing as Charlie.

Whitney would have gotten a lot of exercise if she had played in a Kung Fu film. T and Charlie fought up and down a staircase. There was blood and lots of kicking and rolling on the floor. TNT Jackson is a1974 Blaxploitation.

Well, T fought Charlie and killed him. He fell to the floor and laid still and his vision became blurred. TNT Jackson stood over him starring and that was the end of the movie.

(Singing I Learned From the Best)
“ Baby I learned the way to break a heart .
    I learned from the best.
    I learned …
    I learned from you.”

If Whitney Houston would have done the remake of TNT Jackson, I’m sure there would have been a more up to date version. Who knows, it might would have been a bigger hit if Whitney had remade the film. On top of that, Whitney was already a star. She was every woman with the big hair do’s and the small ones. I loved her big Afro in her video “I Learned From the Best”. I Learned From the Best is a song that might would have played at the end of a film like TNT Jackson.

Today’s topic: Whitney Houston - No Remake of Get Christy Love. We can only imagine.

It was said back in 1997 that Whitney Houston reportedly signed up to star in and co-produce a remake of the 1974 TV movie “Get Christie Love”. It is a crime drama TV series starring Teresa Graves as an undercover female detective which originally aired on ABC from Jan. 22, 1974 until April 5, 1975.

Whitney Houston would have been perfect for the remake of that crime drama. She looked so much like Teressa Graves. I don’t know why it didn’t happen.

I always pictured Whitney Houston in a crime drama TV series when I saw her in leather jackets in photos. Whitney was a great model, actress, and singer. As a matter of fact, Whitney produced some movies like Cinderella (1997) & Princess Diaries. It sure would have been nice if she could have co-produced a remake of Get Christie Love. Whitney would have been the one to get. She would have been the perfect choice.

If Whitney would have made the remake of Get Christy Love, we would have seen another side of Whitney through the character.

A man tried to take advantage of Christie in the movie. You would have seen Whitney do a little martial arts. You would have seen her kick and flip a man over. (Playing movie clip) …. Sounds kind of like Whitney.
You would have also seen Whitney involved in some gun shooting and racing on the highway in a car.

The police drama starring Teresa Graves would have been great for a remake starring Whitney Houston. But unfortunately, there was no remake of Christy Love, Starring Whitney.

Aaah! It’s good to feel heaven. God knows what we have need of, and someday he’ll bring back all who we have lost. That day will come.

Whitney was born Aug. 9th 1963. Let the candle lights burn if you want to and yearly. As you stay in touch with the one above, and know that he’s got her all in his love.

One day Whitney said: I’d like to thank my almighty father in heaven. And my savior Jesus. I could not make it and would not want to make it without him. I’d like to thank all of the fans. All of you.” ___ Whitney Houston
