By the boot of Carlos Mendes Goal-mes... it's a Lancashire Derby Buff!

IT'S a crucial week in Wanderers' promotion push with two big local trips to Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.

Ian Evatt's side got themselves motoring again with a gutsy win at Cambridge United and showed some character to twice come from a goal down to grab a point against Charlton Athletic.

Marc Iles and Henry Hewitt review the week's headlines from The Bolton News, including a good look at the players coming back into the fore, like George Thomason and Ricardo Santos.

We examine what make Josh Sheehan so great, and why other people seem to want to kick him.

And if there has been a better strike at the Abbey Stadium this millennium than the one Carlos Mendes Goal-mes got on Tuesday night, we want to hear from you.

We read out your emails on complaining supporters and whether you can legally watch Wanderers TV in the pub.

And Who Are You is back, with the letter P. Bolton Coroners Office is standing by.

A long time for away fans since March 2020 - podcast #339

A long time for away fans since March 2020 - podcast #339

Wigan Athletic 0 v Manchester United 2. Our 193rd away game in the famous competition is our first since losing 3-1 to eventual winners Leicester City in March, 2021. There were no spectators present due to the Covid restrictions, as was the case when beating Norwich City, so the last time the Red Army cheered us on in an away FA Cup tie was back in March 2020.

Ten Hag after the game : "The FA Cup is all about winning, it is knockout. You want to finish the job. That is what I said in the dressing room 'job done'."

"Oh, definitely. In the first half I think we created five or six very good chances. I think it was very good football. We should have taken more, but if you don't score you have to stay focused and I think we did that tonight."

"I don't know. You can't always say why you've missed chances. There were some good attacks and good chances, but we didn't take them, but the way we created them was OK."

The Buff presents: How to mis-use technology

WELCOME to another headline-packed edition of The Buff, as all the week’s Bolton Wanderers stories are chewed and consumed faster than a lunchbreak pastie barm.

On the agenda this week is the card confusion of Tuesday night – where Dion Charles and Ian Evatt both saw red against Fleetwood Town.

George Thomason has a brand-new contract after turning down Bristol City. We look at some of the numbers involved and what that means for his future.

And with Stoke City and Watford reportedly hot on the heels of Wanderers striker Charles, we ask: ‘How much is a 20-goal-a-season man worth?’

We look ahead to the Wigan Athletic game, and a rivalry than means more to your nephew than your grandad, plus our trusty AI robot generates three quirky facts about Bolton Wanderers you might not know. But are they alright, or Barry Knight?

All on the top-of-the-table podcast that would never-ever misuse technology.
