FK3_04 Stand by Me

Endlich gehen wir in der Zeit mal wieder ein bisschen weiter zurück – diesmal ins Jahr 1986. Unsere Gästin Luise (@headbreak) war diesen Sommer auf einem längeren Trip in den USA, wo sie sich unter anderem auf die Spuren von Stephen King begeben hat, und hat uns als einen ihrer persönlichen Filmklassiker „Stand by Me – Das Geheimnis eines Sommers“ mitgebracht. Das ist ja eine der wenigen Verfilmungen einer King-Vorlage, mit der der Autor sehr zufrieden war. Uns kommt es tatsächlich wie eine eher ungewöhnliche King-Variante vor, denn Eric vermisst zuallererst die Horrorelemente. Wenn es nun aber kein Horrorfilm ist, was zeichnet „Stand by Me“ dann aus, was hat ihn so tief in das kulturelle Gedächtnis unserer Generation eingebrannt? Wir sprechen über Kindheit, Jugend und Erwachsenwerden, über Freund*innenschaft, die nicht ein ganzes Leben anhalten muss, um gut gewesen zu sein, über Charme und Zusammenspiel der vier unterschiedlichen Hauptcharaktere, über Väter, Söhne und Männlichkeit, über titelgebende Musik, aber auch über Fatshaming und die Abwesenheit von Frauen. The Curse

Story: Kurz nachdem der aufgeweckte Farmerjunge Zack seine Mutter bei einem Seitensprung ertappt hat, landet ein großer Meteorit hinter dem Farmhaus der frommen Familie in Tennessee. Ein Zeichen des Herrn? Jedenfalls übt der Himmelskörper Einfluss auf alles Leben in der Umgebung aus – wenn auch keinen guten: Das Vieh verhält sich aggressiv und zeigt Symptome einer Erkrankung. Tomaten, Äpfel und Kürbisse reifen binnen kürzester Zeit zu überdimensionaler Größe heran, doch wer davon nascht, vergiftet sich Körper und Geist. Der Wahnsinn treibt grausige Blüten: Ein Familienmitglied nach dem anderen verfällt den Früchten des Grauens, der Fluch ist stärker als tausend Stoßgebete. Nur Zack verspürt Kraft und Hoffnung in sich, der entarteten Natur zu trotzen. Kann er seine Familie und die ganze Erde retten?
