Asbury Park Vibes - Willie Nile [Episode 82]

Asbury Park Vibes - Willie Nile [Episode 82]

Asbury Park Vibes had a wonderful opportunity to chat with the great Willie Nile.  Willie Nile has been  putting out albums since the eighties - four albums in five years.  By his own words - he is more creative and energetic now than he ever was.  His new release, "The Day The Earth Stood Still,"  was created and recorded during the pandemic, and represents Willie's mood and hopefulness during a bleak time in New York City.

Willie Nile has played and recorded with a long list of greats - Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr, Tori Amos, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Ian Hunter, Barenaked Ladies, Joan Osborne, Cyndi Lauper, Levon Helm, The Chieftains, Taj Mahal, and Carole King.

Willie Nile is a walking encyclopedia of the music scene since the 1980s and is ever hopeful that the world is a naturally good place!

EPISODE 13: James Maddock (born 1962) is a British singer-songwriter and performing musician. Originally from Countesthorpe, Leicester, UK, Maddock has been based in New York City since 2003 after signing with Columbia Records. Maddock's first public success in the U.S. was with his band Wood, whose album "Songs from Stamford Hill" produced multiple songs appearing on the hit TV show "Dawson's Creek," including the Top 5 single "Stay You." Maddock, though British, is largely associated with the Americana music style and has performed with Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nile and David Immerglück of the band Counting Crows. Maddock has since become a solo artist with several albums, including "Sunrise on Avenue C" (2009) which won the 2010/11 NY Music Award for Best Americana Album. His latest album "No Time to Cry" (2020) is out now. jamesmaddock.net
