    Tania's Rock, Paper and Scissors

"Since I put down my list, I've kind of really been liking what life's list is looking like, just not knowing." - Tania.

Tania is a modern-day explorer. She toils and braves the demanding world of career soul-searching and ultimately takes the plunge to change from two highly different careers. Her strength to acknowledge sensitivities for everyone around her, balancing it with choosing one's self to value, is an asset I truly admire in this fiery woman. CAMPAIGN OAAT GONE GOOD

    CAMPAIGN OAAT GONE GOOD
Brodi Nicholas shares the good of Campaign One At A Time, the non-profit that helps families in need. Sometimes things start in the simplest of ways: Brodi would wave to his young neighbor Sam every day as he left for the day. Then one day, he didn't see Sam playing outside. One day turned into many days: Sam was sick and Brodi came up with an idea to help him. And that's really as simple as it gets. One person bringing together many people to help others. Brodi never saw himself leading a charity for children but now there's no other way he can see his life. Grab some inspiration from someone doing some serious good in the world.

60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: Paul King's Wish For Solidarity Saturday

60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: Paul King's Wish For Solidarity Saturday

Hello to you listening in Kyle, Canada

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday & your host, Diane Wyzga.

Recently, I was scrolling through Comments to a NYTimes article on the Ukraine. Paul King - somewhere in the US - wrote this wish:

I'd like to see every Saturday be 'Solidarity Saturday'.

Each Saturday, at 10am in every time zone on earth, we all do a very simple act:

Step outside our homes into the open and stand in silence for 15 minutes.

    Just show ourselves.

    Stand with neighbors.

Come out and be seen, our presence a protest.

All over earth on every Saturday as each zone hits

10am. Billions of us just stepping outside, showing ourselves, showing evil that we oppose it!

Just walk out the door into the open.

    Not hard.”

I don’t know Paul King nor where he might be in the US but I can say this: his wish is so compelling that I have no choice but to give it air time. Right Here. Right Now. With the invitation that folks all over the world will be standing with us at 10 AM on each Solidarity Saturday.

Question: Where will you be joining from?

You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Dandelions: A Flower By Any Other Name

Dandelions: A Flower By Any Other Name

Have you ever wished upon a dandelion?  Those little puffballs that grow in your front yard, and if you blow away all the seeds you get a wish? By blowing away the seeds, you’ve actually granted the dandelion's wish of seed dispersal and helped one of the earth’s most abundant flowering species.

Dandelions, also known as blowballs,  are tap-rooted, perennial, herbaceous plants native to temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere. These plants, which many humans often call weeds, are actually an important part of the ecosystem and are incredibly useful to many creatures, including humans. Our ancestors grew dandelions for food and medicine since the beginning of farming.

In The Good, The Bad, The News

Just because it’s called “natural” doesn’t mean it’s good. “Black salves”, used to treat moles and cancer, are dangerous and can be life-threatening. So don't use them.

Mosquitoes learn to avoid pesticides after just one exposure, which means the pesticides we currently use may not be effective forever. Mosquitoes may be one thing that is not Better Than Human.

Old wind turbine blades are being used for bridge construction after they’re retired, which is good news because the blades are not biodegradable.

Humpback whales have been removed from the Australian Threatened Species List following an incredible recovery in numbers.

Because Dandelions are one of the first flowers in early spring, their nectar is important for a wide hosts of pollinators, including bees and butterflies.

Raw dandelion greens are a healthy food for humans, and contain phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are chemicals produced by plants, generally to help them resist infection. The term is used to  used to describe plant compounds that are under research. While many supplement companies make outlandish claims about phytochemicals, like they can cure cancer, phytochemicals may or may not actually be useful to humans when consumed.  Either way, dandelions don't cure cancer. But they may be good in your salad and are great for the environment. So let's all go blow on some blowballs.

Listen now to learn more about dandelions

    Hope Eternally

    Hope Eternally
Christmas brings us more than a wish. It reminds us there is HOPE, and our hope is built on the certainty of Jesus Christ who will save His people from their sin. He was sent by the Father as the Savior of the world.

Why did God send his Son?

Why did God send his Son?
In today’s Christmas episode, featuring Pastor Phil Hopper, we dive into the reason for the season. You may picture baby Jesus lying in a manger, but as we search and know the scriptures, there’s a lot more surrounding the nativity story that points us to God’s real purpose in sending His Son. The gospel accounts of Matthew and Luke describe genealogies leading up to Jesus’ birth. Matthew’s genealogy is directed toward the Jews, describing the lineage of Jesus from Abraham and David, showing how Jesus is their messiah, and King. Luke’s account goes back to Adam, the first son of God, who tainted the image of God that was created in him, passing along sin to the whole world. Jesus is the “last adam” and the only one who restores us to become children of God again! Christmas is a special time of year to highlight what Jesus has done for us, and also what He is doing. We celebrate the Kingdom come. Jesus came to redeem us from sin and to eventually restore His Kingdom. It’s our ever-expanding universe that is all His, and one day He will come back to reclaim it all. Though we live currently in the fallen world, we can be a part of God’s Kingdom by confessing Jesus as the King of our hearts and trusting in his name.
