When A Black Woman Owns A Plant Based Cafe

It's great when we seek to better ourselves. It's even more amazing when we do the work to include others and provide a service to help our community achieve growth as well.

This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Ashley Codrington, owner of The Plaanted Cafe, a fully vegan cafe and marketplace.

Join us as we discuss how she transitioned to plant based, services she provides and ways you can incorporate healthier foods into your diet.

The Ubuntu Learners- Transforming Education for Children

The Ubuntu Learners- Transforming Education for Children

Childhood education in the United States too often leaves a lot to be desired in terms of what is taught, how it is taught and lack of representation for POC. Thankfully, two amazing women are looking to change that.

Ketlynne Joseph and T'Shawn Layne are the co-founders of Ubuntu Learners, educators filling the gaps in our education system by teaching school age children more about self, our rich history and culture, and showing them what they are capable of achieving.

Find out more about their innovative and inclusive work and enriching curriculum in our latest episode "The Ubuntu Learners: Transforming Education for Children." Link is in bio.

The Need for Racial Inclusion in Dance

The Need for Racial Inclusion in Dance

Representation, inclusion and equity continues to be a battle for those in our community and the world of dance is no exception. We spoke with Dance Education Specialist Latoya Nickee about her experience as a Black girl and woman in a space that often does not take into account our contributions to the craft, our differences in body types, skin tones and hair.

In our latest episode “The Need for Racial Inclusion in Dance” we discuss how Latoya navigated those spaces and how she is carving out her own space in the dance community while making more room for Black girls in her own unique way.

Be sure to click the link in the bio and give us your feedback. Have you had similar experiences navigating spaces that you are not well represented in? Tell us below.
