Why are there less women in data than men? - with Viviana R., parcellab

Why are there less women in data than men? - with Viviana R., parcellab
In this episode of MY DATA IS BETTER THAN YOURS Jonas Rashedi talks in English - with Viviana Ortiz Ruiz, Head of Data at parcelLab. Viviana is originally from Ecuador, now based in Germany, and she has a lot of experience in supply, e-commerce and data analytics. Jonas and Viviana talk about the reasons why lots of jobs in data and tech are occupied by men. Viviana explains that most job applications are from men instead of women. Together they talk about the differences of women and men and how recruitment processes at parcelLab and Douglas work. Both think: Gender shouldn’t be criteria for employment. Often women underestimate themselves and are afraid to apply for roles, because they think that they are not capable of the job. Jonas gives the advice: Never underestimate yourself and don’t be shy in a job interview! You also get a foresight to data in the next years and interesting ideas about how to give access to data to young girls.
