Pray Like This, Part 2: Hallowed Be Your Name // Jamie Nunnally

Pray Like This, Part 2: Hallowed Be Your Name // Jamie Nunnally

What does "hallowed" mean? How do you hallow God's name? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally explains why it is important to hallow God in prayer. Hallowed is actually a verb, not an adjective, that’s why they saw “hallowed be.” Hallowed is often translated holy, but holy is an adjective. Hallowed be thy name is not observing God’s holiness, its declaring God’s holiness. When we declare God’s holiness, we call that worship.

To put it in modern day language we use, We would pray “Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that  your name is holy, so I worship you.”

This second line of the Lord’s prayer is a pause for praise. Today’s big idea: start your prayer
    with worship!

    Why start prayer with worship?
    1. To prevent pride.
Worship puts the focus on someone other than ourselves.
    Matthew 6:5-6
When we pray, we should value honesty over artistry. Don’t try to impress anyone—just be yourself.
John 4:24 “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Truth here is authenticity. Remember, God is not looking for perfection from you, He’s looking for connection with you.
We have been given access to the Father, but we can never forget that this access has been granted because of His goodness, not our own.

    2. To reinforce your relationship.
Prayer should be personal, but all too often its simply transactional.
    Matthew 6:7-8
Talk to God like you know Him.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Your prayer will cease to be a list of requests when you first stop to acknowledge who you’re talking to.

    3. To refine your Fear the Lord.
Prov 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge”
Fearing God is not the same as being afraid of God. The "fear of the LORD" an overwhelming sense of the glory, worth, and beauty of the One True God.
How do you walk around with something important? By keeping it in mind with every step you take. The fear of the Lord is practiced by slowing down, being still and worshipping Him wherever you are.

“I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.”
    A. W. Tozer

When you pray, are you taking time to worship first?

    Episode 144: Matthew Chapter 21

    Episode 144: Matthew Chapter 21
There are two things in the first part of this chapter that I have totally missed over the years of reading and studying this passage. First of all, Jesus kicked out the money changers and the those selling animals in order to make room for what should really happen in the temple, healing and worship. I never caught the fact that his actions freed up space for the lame and blind to come in and get healed by Jesus. I have always gotten caught up in the audacity of Jesus to go in and turn over tables and his red faced anger that I missed the point of it, healing and worship. I also never caught the fact that the children who were shouting Hosanna in the streets followed him in worship into the temple. They were running (and we all no that you can’t run in church) and praising God. I’m sure that the lame that had just been healed were also running around. This just blows me away and it says something to me, we put up roadblocks to healing and worship unintentionally. We need Jesus to come in and break them down in order to make room for true healing and worship. What are the roadblocks in your life that Jesus needs to knock over?

The Benefits Of Laylut Al-Qadr: Making Dua And The Power of Istikhara Prayer with Youssra Kamel Kandil

The Benefits Of Laylut Al-Qadr: Making Dua And The Power of Istikhara Prayer with Youssra Kamel Kandil

Whether you think time is flying by or it's stuck at a standpoint, we’ve made it to the final ten days of Ramadan, alhamdillah!

In Episode 15 of Season 2, we are joined by Youssra Kamel Kandil to talk about how to make the most of the time we have left of this Holy month.

In these last Ten Nights of Power, also known as Laylatul Qadr, our reward for good deeds like prayer, charity and reading Quran are multiplied. Now is the best time to form and strengthen our bond with Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) and Youssra explains how we can use dua to do just that.

The power of dua is strong and the response is always guaranteed.  Youssra walks us through the importance of duaa and the proper way to structure it.

Contrary to what many of us believe, you don’t need to wait to find yourself in a difficult position to call on Allah. Dua is powerful enough to change our Qadr and turn our calamities into blessings. You can use dua to ask Allah to protect your family from harms way, or to keep this Ummah safe, for example.

Now, on to what possibly is the most requested topic: Istikhara Prayer.

Most of us have heard about istikhara prayer and are told to perform it before making any big decisions - but when it comes to the actual act of performing, we’re truly lost.

“To speak that which is good”- Youssra breaks down the purpose of Istikhara prayer, the “myths” surrounding it and most importantly how to properly perform it.

This Ramadan we are asking Allah to protect you and all of your loved ones from anything harmful, and may Allah grant ease to those who may be suffering around the world. Join us in making dua, now that you know so much more about it!

God's Desire and Design for Worship (feat. Jonathan Riddle)

God's Desire and Design for Worship (feat. Jonathan Riddle)

We worship something at all times. If God is not the first and foremost object of that worship, something else is. Far too often, we get worship backwards, seeking an emotional response or a particular feeling, rather than seeking God first. Today, we speak with Pastor Jonathan Riddle, the Worship Pastor at Grace Baptist Tabernacle, about the definition of worship, it's foundation in Scripture, and the many schisms caused by focusing too deeply on the process of worship rather than the God that we worship.

The Redeeming Love Bible Broadcast is a ministry of Grace Baptist Tabernacle. We're excited to be under construction on a brand new building in our hometown of King, NC. Please continue to share these episodes, and please consider coming to visit our church. We are excited and expectant for you to come!
