First Run - Wonder Woman 1984

For our first First Run episode in a long time, we're revealing the truth about the second cinematic adventure of DC Comic's greatest heroine by wrapping our golden lasso around Wonder Woman 1984. Amid the storm of criticism and controversy surrounding Patty Jenkins' follow-up to her 2017 hit, how does the movie fare with us? Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, but not nearly enough Robin Wright.

Our theme song is "Nostalgia TV" by Edward Jonathan Blakeley through Lynne Publishing.

WCPEver Episode 341 - Wonder Woman 1984 Movie Review

WCPEver Episode 341 - Wonder Woman 1984 Movie Review

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we are still trying to wrap up 2020 with our movie review of Wonder Woman 1984, which debuted on HBO Max and in theaters on Christmas Day.

Helmed again by director Patty Jenkins, and starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, the movie takes place in 1980s Washington DC. In this installment, Wonder Woman has her hands full with the dual threat of Cheetah and Maxwell Lord. And all is right in the WW mythos as we finally get the Invisible Jet.

Now, if you have seen any commentary on the internet over the last two weeks, you have noticed by now that this movie has provoked a lot of strong reactions, both positive and negative. And you're going to hear some of those arguments on the show today. The bottom line from the discussion is that we all have the right to our opinions. If you loved WW84, that's awesome, and your opinion is valid. If you didn't like WW84, we understand your disappointment, and your opinion is valid too.

We have our Pick 3 choices for new books hitting the stores today for the first NCBD of 2021. There are so many good books out there this week, so make sure to visit your local comic shop, such as Clint's Comics in Kansas City.

Also, Netflix premieres 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom', a based-on-a-stageplay film about historical blues singer Ma Rainey and her band's struggles to record her signature record one hot Chicago summer day. Finally, we've got our top 10 films of the year and you might be surprised at what's topping the list in 2020.

Louis Gohmert. In entertainment news, Yoni offers his candid thoughts on the new film, "WW84."

You don't need a cape for this one, let's fly into WW84!

Kudos to the hair, makeup, and set dressing departments on this movie.

Weirdest live TV station studio ever!

Who is Wonder Woman's Dad? Zeus? A Titan?
Is WW mortal? Or a hybrid?

Pedro Pascal - former successful businessman, or permanent con artist?

What is Dr Barbara's comic book character name?

Is the airplane always invisible, or does WW make it invisible whenever she gets in?

Missing a child in the middle of DC? Just scream his name and he'll find you.

The Book of Boba Fett“. SIDEBAR: Mailbag Episode!

    SIDEBAR: Mailbag Episode!

Remember when all your favorite TV sitcoms used to do that thing where instead of actual plot or content they would just play clips from older, better episodes? And then the credits would just roll and it was like, "Yeah whatever see you next week maybe we'll do something then!"

Well, we're doing that but--even better--we've made all of YOU figure out the content for us! That's right friends, today's episode is all about answering YOUR questions. We wax nostalgic on best episode moments, personal favorite games and comics, and most importantly: Which one of us has won DT! the most?

Check out more of our incessant arguments at debatethiscast.com and keep the conversation going by following us on social media @debatethiscast.
