This episode is full of the fun and frivolity that only a bunch of mad Phantom phans can have on a weekend away (as such just beware a couple of naughty words may have slipped through- nothing too bad, but it might make your grandma "Tutt, tutt.") Also, included in this podcast is Andrew Constant's memorable speech from the LFMBEC Dinner and the infamous "POD BOMB". Happy Phantoming!Support the show

Episode #97 - Interview with Ulf Granberg pt 1

Episode #97 - Interview with Ulf Granberg pt 1

Opportunities like this do not come along very often. Ulf Granberg is the man behind Egmont in their glory years - he was the editor of the Swedish Phantom comic book, Fantomen from 1973 to 1987, then again from 2003 to 2012.

From 1973-2012 Ulf was head of Team Fantomen, the group of creators responsible for producing Phantom stories for Semic then Egmont. Ulf has also written over 30 Phantom stories himself.

That is over 40 years of being paid to write, edit, read and plot our hero!

Ulf is a treasure trove of stories and anecdotes. He interacted with creators from Lee Falk, Sy Barry, Norman Worker, Jamie Vallve and the list goes on and on. and on and on and on!!

This interview is so good and so long, Ulf was so very generous with his time, we have had to split it into several parts. Enjoy part 1, and ...

Episode #91- An Interview with Mike Manley

Episode #91- An Interview with Mike Manley

In a very special X-Band, recorded on the 82nd anniversary of the debut of the newspaper strip, the phellas are lucky enough to talk to current The Phantom Daily artist, Mike Manley.

Mike has worked on the Phantom for almost two years, and on Judge Parker for eight years, so he has a wealth of experience when it comes to the schedules and deadlines that face a comic strip artist in 2018.

Mike tells us about his history as a comic book artist, animator and teacher. We discuss his process in drawing the strip and the balance of digital vs pen and paper, as well as using assistants. Mike responds to some of the online criticism that every artist seems to receive, and also shares his thoughts about the future of the Phantom character and the strip in general.

It's a fascinating chat with a fascinating man - we know you'll enjoy it!
