Support the showPart 2 of the Chronicle Chamber's interview with former Egmont publisher Ulf Granberg continues where part 1's cliff hanger left off. This is the conclusion of one of our most insightful interviews which will no doubt have many a phan delving back into their collections to find the stories that Ulf is referencing. Happy Phantoming!
Support the showOpportunities like this do not come along very often. Ulf Granberg is the man behind Egmont in their glory years - he was the editor of the Swedish Phantom comic book, Fantomen from 1973 to 1987, then again from 2003 to 2012.
From 1973-2012 Ulf was head of Team Fantomen, the group of creators responsible for producing Phantom stories for Semic then Egmont. Ulf has also written over 30 Phantom stories himself.
That is over 40 years of being paid to write, edit, read and plot our hero!
Ulf is a treasure trove of stories and anecdotes. He interacted with creators from Lee Falk, Sy Barry, Norman Worker, Jamie Vallve and the list goes on and on. and on and on and on!!
This interview is so good and so long, Ulf was so very generous with his time, we have had to split it into several parts. Enjoy part 1, and ...

Mike has worked on the Phantom for almost two years, and on Judge Parker for eight years, so he has a wealth of experience when it comes to the schedules and deadlines that face a comic strip artist in 2018.
Mike tells us about his history as a comic book artist, animator and teacher. We discuss his process in drawing the strip and the balance of digital vs pen and paper, as well as using assistants. Mike responds to some of the online criticism that every artist seems to receive, and also shares his thoughts about the future of the Phantom character and the strip in general.
