Fishing for LOVE: Online Dating CHRISTIAN Perspectives | Modern Romance | YBT008 CWP049

Have you ever wondered why guys with fish in their profile photos are such a catch in the online dating scene? Join me as we cast our net into the deep and sometimes murky waters of digital romance. With Veronica and a colorful crew of panelists, including two Johns, Jeremy, Robert, and Joshua, we'll navigate through the art of profile crafting, the strange lure of those fish photos, and the quest for genuine human connections in an era where swiping right is the new courtship dance.

This isn't your typical heart-to-heart about love; it's a no-holds-barred conversation that fishes out the humor and absurdities in our modern quest for companionship. We're not just talking dating apps; we're taking a step back to reminisce about the days of community-focused matchmaking and how it compares to algorithmic encounters. In a world saturated with image-focused selections, we humorously toy with the idea of "Just Vespers," an app that's more about shared experiences than eternal promises. It's a session filled with laughs, a touch of nostalgia, and a candid look at how we present ourselves in the hopes of finding something real.

Wrapping up our rendezvous, we delve into the realm of dating intentions and how the digital profiles we craft are akin to placing an ad for a good ol' used car - you never know what you're going to get. Whether we're searching for life partners within specific cultural niches, like Orthodoxy, or just scrolling for a good time, this episode peels back the layers of what we're all truly seeking behind those screens. So tighten your seatbelt and tune in for a joy ride through the ups and downs of finding love, Orthodoxy style, in the digital age!

TransGender TransBetter? | Gender Shifting as a Sign of Societal Progress or Peril | YBT006 CWP045

Do civilizations crumble under the weight of shifting gender norms? Our dynamic panelists spark a riveting dialogue about this very question. We convened a panel, including Jeremy, Nick, Mary, Maximus, and Robert, to dissect the phenomenon that Murray proposes: the focus on gender identity as a harbinger of societal decline. As we traverse through our cultural landscape, from pop songs to policy debates, our episode delves into the heart of why gender conversations have become so pervasive in Western society, especially in the United States.  What is the Christian response?

This is far more than just a discussion of societal constructs; it's an exploration of the spiritual vacuum that may be at our core. Our conversation ventures deep into the meaning of suffering and authenticity in a world that increasingly prioritizes individual identity over collective unity, let alone unification with Christ Jesus. We tackle the challenging idea that the blurring of established norms might not be the cause of societal deterioration but rather a symptom of a larger crisis—a detachment from a shared objective reality, Christ Himself, that once bound us together. Join us as we seek to understand whether our current preoccupation with personal identity is a sign of progress or peril.

    Blessing Same-Sex Couples!? Pope's Not-So-Delicate Dance w/ Blessing Gay Unions | Yes!...But... YBT002 | CWP037

Welcome to our NEW series that we call "YES!...But..."

Embark on a thought-provoking journey with us as we scrutinize Fiducia Supplicans, Pope Francis' new and very confusing proclamation concerning gay couples/union/marriage and their blessing in the Roman Catholic Church...

Embark on a journey to comprehend the Vatican's nuanced stance on same-sex blessings, a theological tightrope act stirring hearts and minds across Christendom. Explore with us the ecclesiastical tremors sent through the faith community as we dissect whether the church's recent policy marks a doctrinal revolution or a pastoral reimagining. We offer an honest and respectful discourse on the ramifications of this delicate issue, diving into the fissures and fusions it creates within the fabric of Catholic teaching.

As theological landscapes shift, we grapple with the broader implications alongside Michael Lofton, whose interpretations challenge conventional Catholic thought, juxtaposed against traditionalists defending the bedrock of Orthodox Christianity. This episode is a crucible for understanding the church's pivotal role in balancing inclusivity with steadfast Christian values, a conversation that promises to enlighten and provoke thought among believers and spiritual seekers alike. Join us for a profound exploration of faith, inclusivity, and the enduring call to "go and sin no more.

60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: What If You Could Create Powerfully Collaborative Communication?

Hello, to you listening in Laconia, New Hampshire!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Maybe this has happened to you. You’re explaining your idea or sharing your thoughts when someone says, “Yes, but” How did you feel? Discounted, defensive, invisible as if they had a better idea or one of greater value.

"Yes, but" communicates judgment. “Yes, but" is heard as negating what’s been said. Even if our intention is not judgmental, the speaker hears “Yes, but” as a critical response.

See what a difference it makes when we change one word to “Yes, and.”  The entire communication dynamic shifts to being seen, heard, included, and valued. "Yes, and" is heard as conveying a willingness to expand upon the speaker’s idea even though we might not necessarily agree with the speaker.

Practical Tip: When we consciously practice eliminating “Yes, but” in favor of the more inclusive “Yes, and” we create powerfully collaborative communication.

60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday: #1 Powerful Collaborative Communication Technique

Hello, to you listening in Lewiston, Maine!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Maybe this has happened to you. You’re explaining your idea or making a point when someone says, “Yes, but ...” How did you feel? Maybe discounted, defensive, invisible as if the speaker had a better idea or one of greater value.

"Yes, but" communicates judgment and negates what’s been said. "Yes, but" is heard as ‘instead of’ or ‘opposed to’.  Even if our intention is to add our ideas, the speaker hears “but” which sends a critical response.

See what a difference it makes when we change one word to “Yes, and ...” The entire communication dynamic shifts to being seen, heard, included, and valued. "Yes, and" says, ‘in addition’ and conveys a willingness to build on the speaker’s idea even though one might not necessarily agree with the speaker.

Practical Tip: When we consciously practice eliminating “Yes, but ...” in favor of the more inclusive “Yes, and ... ” we create powerfully collaborative communication!
