    Powerful Lessons from 2022

    Powerful Lessons from 2022

It’s that time of year again, to reflect back on the previous year, and wow - what a doozie!
    -

My third near-death experience, among other things, have given me a lot to reflect on this past year. It taught me some incredible lessons and pushed me towards a path in life that finally feels truly authentic.
    -

I’ve lost friends, I’ve gained friends. I’ve learned how to deal with a life-threatening long-term health diagnosis. I’ve been reminded time and time again of the power of the tools I teach to my clients (and use myself) when it comes to getting through challenging times. But most of all, I’ve gained clarity on what’s truly important in life.
    -

As I’m sharing these lessons that I’ve learned, I’m asking you to reflect on how these lessons can be used in your life too. That is why I’m sharing them, after all. Because through shared experiences we can grow ourselves, too.
    -

So please, as you’re listening and reflecting on how these lessons can be your lessons too, find me on Instagram and let me know what resonates most with you. Which lessons did you need to hear today? @kandisjames.kj

    -

    My Life Lessons from 2022:

    1. Life doesn’t always go as planned
    2. Things could always be worse
    3. Your mind is truly a powerful tool
    4. Always listen to your inner wisdom
    5. Ask for help

Of course, I go into much more detail about each one inside the podcast.

AND I share a poem I wrote right after getting out of the hospital this past August. #vulnerablemoment

Thanks for being here - I look forward to hearing your takeaways!

    Xo, Kandis

P.S. For those of you that notice these types of things, YES I did say in the intro of the podcast that there would be 6 lessons, and then only shared 5. Apologies in advance for confusing your brain :)

Late Night Voice Notes After Red Rocks

Late Night Voice Notes After Red Rocks

You know how you can be late night driving down the street and that is when some of the most profound messages and realizations come to you?

    That is this episode.

I don't know about you, but I love going to live music events. And especially when they are at Red Rocks! It is the most magical venue in the entire world for so many different reasons. It's a special place where people come and join together to have an incredible night and appreciate artists gifts to the world, as well as the sacred land, as well as each other. It is more than just a show, or just another place to see cool rocks... It's a full body experience where so many hands have come together over the years, putting their hearts and souls into creating and adding their unique touch and flare to this special place.

After seeing one of my favorite artists of all time, Kasbo, as well as Louis the Child, by myself, I was driving home and continued to have myself a night. I was so inspired by this evening. First of all, the artists crafts were immaculate. I could really feel their hearts in their art and felt honored and grateful to receive and support them.

I also met some beautiful people that night, and got to share fun conversations, smiles, hugs, laughs, and dance moves! It's so fun meeting new people to me, because there are no expectations! You get to just be. And through your being, you get to reveal yourself to each other and learn and be inspired by one another, and connect a lot of dots! I love it.

When I am carrying this feeling of so much joy and appreciation, I feel God throughout my entire body and typically many insights want to come thru me. So, I decided to record some voice notes. I took it a step further and decided to share them with you this week, in hopes that they touch you in the simply beautiful way that they desire to!

Take what resonates, leave what doesn't, and enjoy.

From my wild heart and excited mind, to yours.

The One Question I Ask People Who Are Stuck

The One Question I Ask People Who Are Stuck

I want you to be everything that you could possibly be so that you can see what it's like. But it's going to take you making decisions that are in line with the outcome you want to achieve... and that means getting uncomfortable. I want to encourage you to be open to change that is in line with the outcomes you want to achieve.

Making the Most of Your Time

Making the Most of Your Time

(Note: We're taking a break from the "Belonging to Him" series for the holiday season and will pick back up with Part 2 on January 17th. This week, you’ll be hearing the third sermon John shared from the series, "A Time for Every Purpose Under Heaven" while pastoring a church in the country of Honduras.) If you knew you had 24-hours to live, how would you spend it? What if you had 50 years left to live? Making the most of every opportunity involves living with both priorities in mind. We must live in utter dependence upon God's providence over time. And we must step out and take risks in both our daily lives and in our long-term plans to ultimately sanctify time with a view of eternity in mind.

The video of this episode is available on Patreon to patrons of Barb.

Barb's guest Hope shares her experience, strength and hope on this episode. Hope shares about her #YOLO philosophy, which is very different than her YOLO philosophy of her younger years! Now it's about trying new things that you've always wanted to try, trying things that will stretch, grow and change you. When she was young, her YOLO philosophy was more about getting wasted and doing dumb things.
