When the Wicked Beareth Rule: The Story of a Former Mega-Church Worship Leader with Sage Salazar

Mega-churches have been a hot topic in the past several years. Reports of deception, greed, and abuse of every kind have been coming to light, and it’s easy to see why people are so enthralled.

In this episode, we’re going behind the scenes of a megachurch with former worship leader, Sage Salazar, as they share their transformative journey from a starry-eyed believer to a liberated skeptic. Their experiences with a culture of extreme control, church "Hollywood" glam, and heartbreaking abuse are eye-opening.

Terry Parkman | Post Modernism, Post Church, Post Truth

Terry Parkman | Post Modernism, Post Church, Post Truth

Episode 44: We are so excited to have Terry Parkman join us again for today's episode on what it truly means to disciple this next generation. Pastor Terry explains that our world today is post modernism, post church, and post truth. This means that culture today is moving from facts and truth and toward feelings, personal desires, and sin to be their truth. In the world's view, it doesn't matter what the facts say, because you can just create your own truth. The next generation is getting taught to live this way, and we need to be equipped to truly minister to them!

Meet Chris and Learn about God's Care

While recording live with Rick Ash, Pastor Gary surprises our youth Pastor, Chris Pethtel and calls him up to the hot mike to cohost an episode. We have been talking about including him for a long time and this seemed like the best time to everyone....except Chris!

He did a great job sharing his favorite verse and we may have a hot mike moment in the end, only because we caught him off guard. Please take a few minutes to get to know Chris and learn why 1 Peter 5:7 is his favorite verse.

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you," 1 Peter 5:7.

Ep 80: Body Parts Need to Stick Together

Ep 80: Body Parts Need to Stick Together

We've all been there... someone in church drives you crazy. Or people just don't "get" you in your small group. Maybe you feel one way about a scripture and your friend disagrees... no matter what it is, those we are following Christ are meant to represent Him and be His "body".

Sure, we all have different talents, gifts and even perspectives, but, does that give us carte blanche to just write of people or denominations we disagree with? Does "church hurt" mean we simply walk away from humans who go to church? And does stepping into a church mean you are now part of the body?

Let's get into what scripture says about community, the body of Christ, and how we are to stick together, even if we disagree.  (Albeit, we are to talk things out...).

Ep 73: The Benefits of Seeking God in All You Do

One "easy" answer: seek God in ALL you do.

In this episode, we talk about seeking God in all we do and the benefits the Bible promises for us when we do just that.

In addition, we talk about future episodes coming in the next week, AND the trajectory of focus to set us up for a fabulous New Year - understanding the ideas of purpose, calling, and destiny.  And how fully understanding those things can lead you to a much more fulfilling, exciting, happy life in Jesus Christ.

    ABOUT THE GUEST:
Pastor Williams excepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior when he was around 10 years old, at the House of Prayer Temple COGIC, under the leadership of his father, the late Apostle Naamon Williams Sr.

In 1992, Naamon Williams founded the community choir Youth for Christ, which he later changed to Ministry Chorale in 2001.

In 2002, Pastor Naamon became the musician for Bread of Life church and later joined under Superintendent Willie F. Richardson, where he has remained faithful.

On January 22, 2006, Elder Williams married the love of his life DeVita Richardson.

Continuing to obey God, Pastor Williams accepted his calling to preach the gospel in 2005 and was ordained an Elder in the Church of God In Christ, Northern Illinois Jurisdiction, by the late Bishop Cody V. Marshall in August of 2006.

Pastor Williams is daily reminded of his father’s last words to him, “ I must decrease so that my son might increase”. Not fully understanding those words, Pastor Williams still yielded to God’s will and  remained faithful to God and ministry.

In November of 2014, Overseer Willie F. Richardson, pastor and founder of Bread of Life COGIC,  obeyed the voice of the Lord and named Elder Naamon Williams Jr. The new pastor of The Bread of Life Church.  Now he understood his father’s last words.

On January 4, 2015 , Elder Naamon Williams Jr. assumed the role of  pastor of The Bread Of Life COGIC. " The Church That Takes The Limits Off".

God granted Pastor Naamon the opportunity to return to one of his loves, which is teaching and directing choirs. In the beginning of 2020, Bishop E.M. Walker, Prelate of the Northern Illinois Jurisdiction, appointed Pastor Naamon as the Jurisdictional  Minister of Music.
