Conversation with Deepa Rachel- Breast Cancer Survivor
In 2019, Deepa Rachel felt a lump in her breast. She went to see the gynecologist. Gynecologist suggested her ultrasound and the reports showed fibroma. In March 2020 she again felt the lump in her breast but because of covid she decided to go in July. In July, the reports showed that the size of the tumor has grown three times. The doctor asked to go for 4 chemo first and then the next 4 chemos. They went ahead with the treatment and after the chemo she went for surgery and now she is under revision. She didn't have much side effects from chemo. She went through the journey happily. She just goes for a follow up now. Both her husband and children were strong. Her children were small but still she was able to manage everything and create a balance. She says, " Don't let it get into you." Cancer doesn't mean you will die. She is happy, she is getting her hair back. She has kids and a loving husband with whom she spends most of her time

Conversation with Breast Cancer Caregiver- Shruti

Conversation with Breast Cancer Caregiver- Shruti
Shruti's mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. She was taken to Kokilaben hospital for treatment. Doctors did her surgery, and the removal of the breast was not required the first time. She returned to her everyday life, doing some work at home and even went on some trips. But then, in 2017, she had a fever and was taken to the hospital. The lump size had grown, and the doctors even had to remove the right breast. She underwent surgery, chemo but not radiation because radiation had many side effects. She was taken home after the treatment and removal. Again, it appeared for the third time. This time they could see it on her breast and the lumps started to come outside of her body. This was when the family knew that she only had some time left with them. Her medicines were not working. They even consulted other doctors and they said the same. Then one day, she started having breathlessness and was lying on the floor. This lasted for some time and she left them.

    Conversation with Caregiver Devansh Rai

    Conversation with Caregiver Devansh Rai
My father’s Cancer diagnosis completely changed my life. I have been his caregiver for 4½ months. Almost eight months back, my dad was unable to swallow the food properly. We then consulted the doctor. After the endoscopy, it was found out that my father has a tumor. The biopsy revealed squamous cell carcinoma. He was not able to consume any solid food and was entirely on a liquid diet. We accepted the news and moved on to find what we can do from here onwards. We shared cancer surviving stories so that everyone knows that there is a possibility and cancer cannot be the end. My father took the news positively and decided to fight back. He always said he will be okay. The cancer journey is itself very exhausting, and it has an impact on both patient as well as the caregiver’s life. But, with positivity, support, the right advice, anyone can move forward and fight this battle.

Conversation with Breast Cancer winner Dhruba
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer twice. I noticed various symptoms. I had severe pain in one of my breasts. First I thought it was hormonal changes & some general infection. But after visiting a cancer hospital the doctor cleared that this might be something serious. In the total journey, I had 8 chemotherapy sessions and 15 radiation treatments including the surgery where I had decided to go for a double mastectomy. Everything passed away. I did not give up. I fought the battle & survived. We just have to believe in ourselves and have faith. This treatment requires strong support & strength.

Conversation with volunteer Ravindra Kumar Singhania
I am a 71-year-old. I faced some problems in my lungs as I was a chain smoker. In early 2013 – 2014, my health started deteriorating. I had pain all over my body. This was unexplainable. Initially, I did some Ayurvedic treatment. A series of surgeries happened in 2016. My lungs only functioned 12%. I had an oxygen cylinder on myself 24/7. Then I got to know about CBD treatment. I tried cannabis oil which showed tremendous positive effects on my body. From that time onwards I started experimenting on my body. I also run a family called, “Navjeevan ka Amrit” to help other people.

Conversation with Colon Cancer Caregiver Shivani

Conversation with Colon Cancer Caregiver Shivani
My mother was diagnosed with Colon Cancer exactly a year ago around 14th June 2020. At that time, the situation was very bad due to the coronavirus crisis. My mother started having acidity problems in January 2020. The diagnosis happened late due to some negligence & fewer opportunities because of the lockdown. She also had severe weight loss & diarrhoea. She lost around 10-15 Kg all of a sudden. There was weakness. Internal bleeding also started at one point. My mother couldn’t survive the cancer battle and passed away in August 2020. Throughout the journey, she was courageous; she kept smiling no matter how much pain cribbed her. It is vital to keep fighting in this journey & never give up.
