    • From Corporate to Wellness: Following Passions and Taking Calculated RisksDetermination and a passion for health and wellness can lead to a successful career transition, even in a saturated industry. Ethical business practices and earning clients one at a time can also contribute to a fulfilling career.

Determination and a passion for health and wellness can lead to a successful career transition, even in a saturated industry. Kelly Levesque, a guest on the podcast, shared her journey from a corporate career in cancer and genetics to becoming a wellness coach and nutritionist for celebrities like Jessica Alba and Chelsea Handler. She credits her corporate paycheck and the encouragement of her friends for allowing her to start a side hustle and eventually make the transition full-time. Her story highlights the importance of following one's passions and taking calculated risks to pursue a fulfilling career. Additionally, her approach to earning clients one at a time and not relying on high-pressure sales tactics sets an example for ethical business practices.

    • Starting from scratch: Working for free to gain testimonialsProviding value and striving for excellence can lead to impressive transformations and positive word of mouth, ultimately resulting in a successful business

Providing value and putting in effort upfront can lead to significant rewards in the long run. The speaker shared her experience of working for free in the beginning of her health coaching business to gain testimonials and showcase her abilities. This approach led to clients who saw impressive transformations and spread the word, resulting in a ripple effect of positive impact. The speaker emphasized the importance of striving for excellence and consistency, rather than perfection, and the value of making health and wellness accessible and realistic for everyone. She also highlighted the importance of testing different approaches and finding what works best for each individual. Ultimately, the key takeaway is that putting in the hard work and providing value can lead to significant returns and positive outcomes.

    • Focus on essential nutrients: protein, fat, fiber, and greensFocus on nourishing your body with whole, nutrient-dense foods like protein, fat, fiber, and greens to optimize health and manage hunger hormones.

While there are various diet trends such as paleo, Mediterranean, Atkins, and keto, they all essentially come down to providing our bodies with essential nutrients like protein, fat, fiber, and greens. The key is to focus on these basics and avoid getting caught up in debates over which diet is superior. Additionally, understanding the role of hunger hormones and how they can be managed through food choices, such as protein, fiber, and fat, can help reduce constant hunger and cravings. It's important to remember that our bodies are complex ecosystems, and focusing on nourishing them with whole, nutrient-dense foods can help keep our gut bacteria thriving. So, keep it simple and prioritize protein, fat, fiber, and greens for optimal health.

    • Understanding Food Intolerances and ChoicesFocus on enjoying meals and maintaining stable blood sugar levels. Explore various food intolerance tests for personalized results.

The way you prepare your food or whether you get tested for food intolerances is ultimately a personal choice. It doesn't matter if you cook, soak, sprout, or eat raw vegetables, as long as you can digest and enjoy your food. The focus should be on enjoying your meals and maintaining stable blood sugar levels, which will help you make healthy choices. As for food intolerance testing, while there are various tests available, the best one may depend on individual preferences and accessibility. Some tests, like Cyrex, look for antibodies in the blood, while others, like MRT and Alcat, test blood cells' reactions to foods. Ultimately, the choice is yours, and the most important thing is to find a method that works best for you and allows you to focus on living your life to the fullest.

    • Fasting can eliminate lingering antibodies by inducing programmed cell deathFasting triggers apoptosis, which kills off immune cells and antibodies, allowing the body to rebuild a fresh immune system upon refeeding. Enter ketosis before fasting to prepare.

Our bodies produce antibodies in response to allergens or toxins, which can linger in our system for several months. This means that even if we eliminate the source of the antibodies, they can still be effective for a long time. There's ongoing research suggesting that fasting, specifically a clinical four-day fast, can help eliminate these antibodies by inducing programmed cell death. This process, called apoptosis, kills off immune cells and antibodies, allowing the body to rebuild a fresh and clean immune system upon refeeding. The body enters a state of ketosis during fasting, using fat as its primary energy source instead of carbohydrates. To prepare for such a fast, one can enter ketosis by eating a low-carb, high-fat diet and testing for ketosis using a urine or blood test. The research from USC is intriguing, but it's important to note that fasting for extended periods without proper medical supervision can be challenging and potentially dangerous.

    • Rebuilding the immune system through fastingFasting can help rebuild the immune system and potentially lead to weight loss, but committing to long-term dietary changes can be challenging. Break down changes into smaller, manageable parts for greater success.

Our bodies undergo significant changes throughout our lifetime, making it essential to pay attention to what we eat as new cells are constantly being formed. Fasting, such as a four-day fast, can help rebuild the immune system and potentially lead to weight loss. However, it's important to remember that committing to long-term dietary changes can be challenging, and short-term efforts may not last. Instead, breaking down dietary changes into smaller, manageable parts can lead to greater success and confidence in achieving personal health goals.

    • Embrace personal growth and self-loveFocus on effort, progress, and self-love rather than unrealistic body goals. Celebrate natural figures and learn from role models.

Confidence and self-worth are closely linked to body image in today's society, but it's essential to focus on the effort put in rather than striving for unrealistic goals. Our natural figures should be embraced and celebrated, and small wins, like gaining muscle or sticking to a healthy plan, can significantly boost confidence. Comparing oneself to others and societal pressures can be detrimental, so it's crucial to focus on personal growth and self-love, regardless of body size. Role models like Danica, who embrace their curves and radiate confidence, provide an excellent example of how one should be. It's not always easy, but recognizing and celebrating progress, no matter how small, can help build confidence and improve overall well-being.

    • Understanding the Role of Factors in Health and RelationshipsFocus on intermittent fasting, protein, fat, fiber, and greens for optimal health. Listen to your body and avoid disordered eating behaviors.

The key to maintaining a healthy body and relationships involves understanding the role of various factors such as genetics, hormones, and lifestyle choices. The speaker emphasized the benefits of intermittent fasting and fasted workouts for releasing human growth hormone and holding onto lean muscle mass. However, it's essential to listen to your body and not let intermittent fasting lead to disordered eating behaviors. The speaker also recommended focusing on protein, fat, fiber, and greens in meals to keep hunger at bay and avoid the blood sugar rollercoaster effect of consuming too many carbohydrates. Overall, the discussion highlighted the importance of self-awareness and making informed choices to optimize both physical health and personal relationships.

    • Consistency in Fitness and NutritionRegular exercise prevents muscle breakdown, healthy food choices sustain energy, try new alternatives to unhealthy habits, make sustainable choices for individual needs.

Consistency in both workout and nutrition is key for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The speaker emphasizes the importance of working out regularly to prevent muscle breakdown and making healthy food choices to avoid energy slumps that lead to unhealthy snacking. Additionally, she suggests trying new alternatives to unhealthy habits, such as Runa instead of Red Bull or lower sugar ice cream instead of froyo. The less often you indulge in unhealthy foods, the less you'll crave them. Ultimately, it's about making sustainable choices that fit your individual needs and preferences.

    • Authentic, passionate, and consistent branding for health coachesEmpower people with valuable info, build a strong online presence, have a professional background, and remain dedicated to your brand.

Building a successful brand involves being authentic, passionate, and consistent. For instance, in the case of a health coach, focusing on empowering people to make healthier choices without being too restrictive can attract a large following. Organic growth can stem from sharing valuable information and building a strong online presence. Additionally, having a professional background can add credibility when starting a new business and help secure resources to invest in its growth. Ultimately, the key is to remain dedicated and prioritize the brand while balancing personal and professional commitments.

    • Creating a successful business through authenticity and client needsFocus on clients' needs, make healthy choices accessible, and create a consistent eating pattern for remarkable transformations in physical and mental health.

Authenticity and ease are key to building a successful business. The speaker shares her experience of developing a brand based on her own success stories and the needs of her clients. By focusing on making healthy choices accessible and simple, she has seen remarkable transformations in her clients' lives, with some losing up to 60 pounds. The strategy involves helping people make better decisions throughout the day, starting with a healthy breakfast shake and avoiding overindulgence after dinner. The goal is to create a flat, consistent eating pattern instead of a coned shape where people eat less in the morning and more in the evening. The positive results extend beyond physical health, with clients gaining confidence and excelling in their careers. The speaker emphasizes the importance of starting with the needs of the clients and building the business message around it.

    • The Power of Networking and Providing ValueBuilding strong relationships and providing value to others can lead to unexpected opportunities and success in business.

Building relationships and providing value to others can lead to unexpected opportunities and success in business, even in the competitive world of celebrity clientele. The speaker, a health coach, emphasized the importance of health and networking, sharing her experiences of meeting and working with celebrities through networking events and mutual connections. She highlighted the significance of being a giver rather than a taker, providing value to others without expecting anything in return. Her first celebrity client, Eve Hewson, came from a chance encounter with a trainer who brought her in to discuss food and nutrition. From there, the relationships grew, leading to more celebrity clients and successful collaborations. The key takeaway is that building a strong network and focusing on providing value can open doors to new opportunities and success in business.

    • Misunderstood Role Leads to OpportunityEffective communication is crucial. Be open to new possibilities and outsourcing can help focus resources.

Sometimes, in new situations, people may not immediately understand our role or purpose. At an event, a health coach was mistaken for a caterer due to a lack of clear communication and signage. However, she seized the opportunity to help a makeup artist with health concerns and eventually worked with Jessica Alba. This experience highlights the importance of effective communication and being open to new possibilities. It also emphasizes the value of outsourcing areas of life where we may not excel, allowing us to focus our energy and resources on what we do best.

    • Three truths for a fulfilling career in health and nutritionCare deeply for clients, stay updated with research, and maintain a positive outlook for success in health and nutrition.

Passion and constant learning are key to making a positive impact in people's lives, especially in the field of health and nutrition. The speaker, Kelly, emphasizes her deep care for her clients, whether they are famous or struggling financially, and her commitment to continuously improving and staying updated with new research. She encourages choosing a positive outlook on life and following dreams, even if faced with skepticism or challenges. These values have led her to a successful career and are the three truths she would want to be remembered by.

    • Follow your dreams and show loveNever let self-doubt hold you back, take daily steps towards goals, value physical touch and presence, strive for greatness by setting personal bar

It's never too late to follow your passion and dreams, and to show love and be present with the people you care about. The speaker, Kelly, emphasized the importance of taking steps forward every day towards your goals, and not letting self-doubt hold you back. She also highlighted the significance of physical touch and presence in showing love to those around us. Additionally, she encouraged listeners to continually strive for greatness by setting their own bar and trying their best. The Summit of Greatness event offers a diverse lineup of inspiring speakers who are experts in various fields, and attendees are encouraged to check it out and engage with the community.

    22. What If You Leaned Into Your Superpower? w/ Alex Najarian

What if you stopped settling for just okay, and started to really go for the things you want in your life; how you want to feel; how you want to show up; what you want your life to look like?

This week, I sat down with Alex Najarian, a kettlebell aficionado, badass business woman, and someone I am lucky enough to call my friend. Alex and I talked about her history as an actress and her pivot into health and fitness, as well as how she showed up differently for herself in the midst of a global pandemic and made 6-figures ... all while loving her work, clients, and the process.

If you're feeling stuck, or like you keep living out the same stories over and over, give this one a listen- it might just be the kick in the pants you didn't know you needed.

    1607 Anchored in Truth

    1607 Anchored in Truth

Change in season and schedules can result in neglecting your health and wellness. Instead of abandoning your health, be aware and remain anchored in truth.

The truth where excuses are deserted and wholeness is brought into light with intentional decisions.

There are so many confusing factors involving health, that it's easy to run and hide in your habits rather than living daily anchored in truth.

But what you must understand is that you will only thrive as much as you care for yourself.

You can talk all the smack you want about your children needing you, your husband needing you, your church needing you.

However, if you are not making YOU a priority, no one else will.

"You live what you allow." ~ Kristianne Wargo

With the summer here and the children under your feet, you have to be intentional about your needs when it comes to your health and wellness.

So let's dive deeper and be anchored in truth.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Be anchored in truth!

You were created on purpose for a purpose. You may or may not know your "whole" purpose, but God does.

"Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom." ~ Psalm 51:6

Most of our life we are in search of what works. The problem is, we are looking away from the One who spoke truth and gave us life.

We run and we hide. We allow the desires of our hearts to be manipulated and entangled in what the world deems fit.

We focus on the loud voices screaming out what's best instead of listening to that still, small voice within.

    • Taking a shortcut and not working out, because you don't feel like it.
    • Eating that crunchy, salty snack because you can; it's convenient.
    • Staying up late to watch a movie you can enjoy anytime.

If you want to live, love, and impact the world in which you touch, you must be anchored in truth.

    1. Be relentless in caring about your well-being. (MIND)
    2. Be intentional about your health decisions daily. (BODY)
    3. Be present in His presence. (SPIRIT)

Episode 5: Does Eating Fat Make You Fat? with Jon Peterson

Episode 5: Does Eating Fat Make You Fat? with Jon Peterson

Back in the 1970s, the government recommended we eat a low-fat, high-carb diet, which led to a spike in heart disease and an increase in obesity in America.

In this episode, Alyson and Dr. Jon discuss the popular misconception that eating fat makes you fat. They both share their experiences of weight loss and weight gain and why listening to our bodies is the key to being healthy.

They also touch on the benefits of the keto diet, the Mediterranean diet, intermittent fasting, and the role of carbohydrates in our diet. What we eat and when we eat affects our cholesterol, brain function, energy levels, and so much more.
