    About this Episode

Shure just released the Shure SM7dB, which is the follow up to the podcast industry standard mic, the Shure SM7B.  This mic is a long time coming and Shure really fixed the one major issue with the SM7b.  Although it's a great mic, it was so gain heavy you needed to use an external preamp in order to really use it.  With the new SM7dB, you no longer need one.  Tune in as I talk about the details of this new mic and why I 'm really excited about it!

    • What is the SM7dB
    • Issues of the SM7b
    • What does gain hungry mean
    • How you used to have to use the SM7b
    • What Shure does to make the SM7dB worth buying

E74 Leveraging Friends and Family: Boosting Your Podcast's Launch and Growth

E74 Leveraging Friends and Family: Boosting Your Podcast's Launch and Growth

In today's episode, we'll be diving into a topic that might make you a little uncomfortable - leveraging your friends and family when launching a new podcast.  Feeling hesitant to share your podcast with the people can be hard because you might be fearing judgment or criticism. But telling people about your show can really give you a boost of listeners, and give you the momentum that you won't have if you do a silent launch.  Today I share my experience and explain why involving your loved ones can actually help your podcast thrive. When I started my two podcasts I kept them under wraps, only to find out that hardly anyone was listening. It wasn't until word got out through the interviews I conducted that people started to take notice.

We'll explore the benefits of involving your family and friends right from the beginning stages of your podcast. They may possess valuable skills that can enhance your show, like graphic design or audio engineering. And by seeking their input, you can create anticipation and simply just let people know what you have coming.  So when you do launch, people are waiting.

    • Leveraging friends and family when launching a new podcast
    • Using their skills and expertise for feedback and improvement
    • Building anticipation and support
    • Building a supportive network through friends and family
    • Generating initial listeners and reviews
    • Addressing the fear of judgment and the importance of pushing past it

E72 Enhancing Your Podcast Audio: Unlocking the Power of Noise Removal

E72 Enhancing Your Podcast Audio: Unlocking the Power of Noise Removal

In this episode, we'll be discussing the topic of noise removal and how it can enhance the audio quality of your podcast. We'll shed some light on what noise removal is and how it can be utilized in your recording and editing process. I'll share my personal experiences with various noise removal plug-ins like Reaper, Waves, and Izotope, discussing their features and effectiveness. Although these tools can be incredibly useful, I always stress the importance of capturing a high-quality recording from the start. Relying too heavily on noise removal is never good, as excessive use can degrade the desired audio signal. But when used with intention, noise removal can really help the audio quality of your podcast improve!

    • What is noise removal
    • Your DAW built in noise removal
    • Third-party plugins by Waves and Isotope
    • Using noise removal as an enhancement tool, not a fix-all
    • Balancing noise removal with maintaining the voice quality
    • The importance of starting with a good recording
