    enMay 25, 2021

    Podcast Summary

    • Solutions for weight loss and affordable wireless servicesTelehealth providers like PlushCare offer weight loss medications and accept insurance, while Mint Mobile provides affordable wireless plans in response to inflation

There are solutions available to help individuals in their weight loss journey, such as telehealth providers like PlushCare, which offers FDA-approved weight loss medications and accepts most insurance plans. Meanwhile, Mint Mobile is offering a more affordable alternative to wireless services, cutting their prices in response to inflation. The podcast hosts, Sophie and Melissa, shared their embarrassing mistake of releasing an episode number prematurely and expressed their appreciation for their growing audience. They also mentioned the possibility of hosting virtual events for their listeners in the future.

    • Misunderstandings and lack of knowledge in relationshipsEffective communication and shared experiences are crucial in building and maintaining relationships. Misunderstandings and lack of knowledge can lead to awkward situations and the end of relationships. Being knowledgeable about different cultures and languages can help prevent misunderstandings and strengthen connections.

Communication and shared experiences are essential in building and maintaining relationships. The discussion revolves around various anecdotes where misunderstandings and lack of knowledge led to awkward situations and the end of relationships. For instance, the speaker's mother's past relationship with a man who didn't know what certain foods were led to their eventual separation. Similarly, miscommunication during a dinner in Spain resulted in the speaker and her friend ending their night early. These incidents highlight the importance of shared experiences and understanding in relationships. Additionally, the conversation also touches upon the importance of being knowledgeable about different cultures and languages to avoid misunderstandings and build stronger connections. Overall, the conversation emphasizes the significance of effective communication and shared experiences in fostering healthy and lasting relationships.

    • Leveraging Humor and Technology for Wine TastingUsing humor and technology, we can make wine tasting more enjoyable and accessible to a broader audience, enhancing the overall experience for individuals with diverse approaches to learning and engagement.

We can rate wines on a mobile app and contribute to the wine community while incorporating humor into our wine experiences. This idea was sparked by a funny meme about Prosecco and the term "prosexy." While some may find humor in mispronunciations or playful nicknames for wines, others may prefer more traditional approaches like reading books or watching film adaptations. It's essential to embrace individual differences and use them as an excuse to learn and grow, rather than a limitation. The use of humor can make wine tasting and learning more enjoyable and accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, the incorporation of technology and community engagement can enhance the overall wine tasting experience.

    • Sophie's Chardonnay Preference and Alternative Wine SuggestionsListeners Sophie and Melissa enjoy the podcast and discussed their wine preferences, with Sophie expressing a liking for chardonnay and sharing her wine allergy. They also talked about natural or organic wines with minimal sulfates and low intervention as alternatives, and the importance of exploring diverse wine options.

Sophie and Melissa, listeners from Sydney, appreciate the podcast and value the discussions about wine. Sophie shared her enjoyment of a chardonnay from Edmond's Tavern, expressing her preference for this wine over other varieties like Pinot Grigio or Pinot Noir. She also mentioned her wine allergy and the suggestion of trying natural or organic wines with minimal sulfates and low intervention as an alternative. The conversation also touched upon the topic of wine preservation and the discovery of a vacuum stopper to save opened wine for longer periods. Overall, the conversation showcased the diversity of wine preferences and the importance of exploring different wine options.

    • Navigating Complex Feelings in Friendships and RomanceBe honest about your feelings, but consider the other person's perspective. Prioritize your own feelings and communicate clearly to avoid confusion in relationships.

It's important to be honest about your feelings in relationships, whether romantic or platonic. In the context of the discussion, the speaker acknowledges the complexity of a situation where she is developing feelings for a man who has expressed a desire for a friendship. She suggests considering the man's perspective, recognizing that he may be honest about wanting a friendship due to his recent relationship experience and feelings of loneliness. However, she also emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one's own feelings and considering the potential impact of continuing the friendship on future dating experiences. The speaker acknowledges the challenges of dating and the importance of clear communication in navigating such situations. Additionally, the speaker shares her personal experience with organic wine, noting that while it may reduce the "clogginess" in the head without sulfates, excessive consumption can still lead to hangovers.

    • Friendship with unreciprocated feelingsConsider your happiness, handle feelings without interference, or take a break if needed, and remember everyone deserves genuine love.

If you're in a situation where you have feelings for a friend who doesn't reciprocate, it's essential to consider your own happiness and well-being. The conversation suggests that continuing the friendship while harboring strong romantic feelings can be challenging and potentially hurtful for both parties. If you're unable to suppress these feelings and they're clouding your dating life, it might be best to take a break from the friendship or redefine it. However, if you can handle the friendship without letting your feelings interfere, then continuing it could be an option. Ultimately, the decision depends on what feels right for you and what aligns with your personal growth and happiness. Additionally, the conversation highlights the importance of being honest with yourself and others about your feelings and intentions. It's crucial to remember that everyone deserves someone who genuinely wants them, and it's essential not to waste time waiting for someone who isn't ready or interested in a romantic relationship.

    • Women's societal pressure to express sexualityWomen should not let societal pressure dictate their actions, feel empowered to express sexuality and pursue desires in relationships with consent.

Women face societal pressure when it comes to expressing their sexuality and making the first move in relationships. A listener shared her experience of trying to signal her interest in going home with someone after a date without being too forward. She was met with confusion when she realized her message had been sent to the podcast instead of the intended recipient. The conversation then touched upon the societal stigma surrounding women's sexuality and the double standard that exists when it comes to men and women expressing their desires. The consensus was that women should not feel ashamed to express their sexuality and pursue their desires, as long as both parties are consenting adults. The conversation also emphasized the importance of communication and being open about one's intentions in relationships. Ultimately, the key takeaway is that women should not let societal pressure dictate their actions and should feel empowered to make the first move if they choose to do so.

    • Being honest in relationships saves time and emotionsHonesty in relationships and dating is crucial for saving time, emotions and avoiding misunderstandings. Be clear about your intentions and communicate openly to build healthier and more fulfilling connections.

Honesty is key in relationships and dating. Whether it's leaving a relationship gracefully or communicating your feelings to someone you're interested in, being upfront and truthful can save time and emotions in the long run. The fear of rejection or hurting someone's feelings can sometimes lead people to be dishonest or string others along, but it's essential to remember that everyone's time and emotions are valuable. Additionally, it's important to recognize that sometimes the issue lies with the other person, not ourselves. And, when it comes to dating apps, be clear about your intentions and communicate openly to avoid misunderstandings or wasting time. Overall, being honest and respectful can lead to healthier and more fulfilling relationships.

    • Romantic Relationships with Managers: Complex and RiskyPrioritize personal well-being and maintain professional boundaries in romantic relationships with managers. If the relationship becomes harmful, focus on other relationships or personal growth.

Engaging in a romantic relationship with a manager can be complicated and potentially harmful, especially if the manager has a history of casual encounters. This situation can lead to feelings of obsession, manipulation, and mental health issues. It's essential to prioritize personal well-being and maintain professional boundaries. If the relationship becomes too intense, it may be best to distance oneself from the situation and focus on other relationships or personal growth. Additionally, it's important to remember that workplace dynamics can be complex, and it's crucial to maintain a respectful and professional attitude towards all colleagues.

    • Embracing Confidence and Self-Love in RelationshipsConfidence and self-love are essential in attracting and maintaining relationships. Act cool and own your self-worth to win over uninterested individuals. Deal with life's challenges, like excessive deliveries, with gratitude and humor.

Confidence and self-love are crucial in attracting and maintaining relationships. The speakers shared their experience of a friend who used these qualities to win over a man who initially seemed uninterested. They emphasized the importance of acting cool and owning one's self-worth. Additionally, they discussed the challenges of dealing with an excessive amount of deliveries, which can be overwhelming, especially in small living spaces. The speakers joked about the situation and shared their gratitude for packaging and concierge services. Overall, they encouraged embracing confidence and self-love in all aspects of life.

    • Online Shopping Addiction and Inconveniencing OthersBeing aware of how our habits affect others and apologizing for any inconvenience caused, even unintentionally, is important.

The speaker, who is quite relaxed and has an online shopping addiction, often receives deliveries that inconvenience others, particularly when staying with them. This habit, while not intentional, can cause annoyance and frustration. The speaker apologizes for the inconvenience and is aware of the impact on others, but finds it difficult to resist her shopping habit. Another aspect of their conversation revolves around wine tasting and rating, which they enjoy doing together but have not made a regular habit of. The speaker also mentions that she is by herself that evening and had prepared a dinner, but some guests were unable to attend. Despite these minor setbacks, she finds joy in the simple things, like a good bottle of wine.

    • Finding Joy in Small ThingsSavor the moment, connect with others, and find value in experiences and material goods, whether it's through trying new wines, subscribing to podcasts, or finding affordable high-end goods through Quince. Emphasize ethical and responsible manufacturing.

The importance of finding joy in small things, whether it's through trying new things like a light and flavorsome wine, or through giving and receiving thoughtful gifts. The speakers expressed their enjoyment of the present moment and encouraged listeners to do the same, whether it's through subscribing to their podcast or finding high-end goods at affordable prices through Quince. They also emphasized the importance of ethical and responsible manufacturing. Another key takeaway is the power of community and connection, as they thanked their listeners for their support and shared their own experiences of enjoying wine and gifting with others. Overall, the episode highlighted the importance of savoring the moment, connecting with others, and finding value in both experiences and material goods.

    1648 Grace and Glory!

    1648 Grace and Glory!

Sometimes in life, taking a deep breath allows us to realize the grace and glory before us. You must slow down in order to speed up.

Living life in the fast lane only goes fast for so long. At some point, a detour occurs, or worse yet, you run out of gas. No more fuel for your busyness or chaos.

Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact

So why do you keep trying to do the impossible?

Remember that point where a detour occurs or you run out of gas? Well you don't want to get to that point at all.

Because when you do, it comes with a cost.

You see, everyone is searching for freedom. But we have to understand that there is a cost to everything in life.

It doesn't matter if you are an infant, a second-grader, or the CEO of a top Fortune 100 Company. There is a cost to absolutely everything.

Love has a cost. Success has a cost. Failure has a cost. Hope has a cost.

But one thing that's forgotten is grace and glory.

Grace is a gift. And the glory that comes from grace is given to God.

So why do you keep running faster and faster?

Your heart only becomes heavy and disheartened. You look for an escape, but the one thing still missing is grace and glory.

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you!" Psalm 84:11-12

How much of your trust is being given to the wrong person or activity? Relying on another flawed human being is a recipe for disaster.

Don't fret what you can't control.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Grace and glory!

    A gift for you.

And the awesome benefit is those whose walk is blameless, the good is present.

God is there to protect and guard you. He is the sun and shield.

So why are you putting your trust in outcomes you can't control?

Why are you questioning what to do when God has already given you an answer?

    Grace and glory!

One cannot be separated from the other. It a packaged deal in your every day.

Think of it as Prime Day, every day! If Amazon can have an incredible deal, I promise God can top any prime deal.

Instead of flying through your day haphazardly, put your trust in God. Don't back down because you don't have the answer you're looking for.

Keep going through the doors God opens, and be grateful for the ones He closes. Life is a series of moments strung together to create your now.

Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn't guaranteed. But you have today, so celebrate indeed. The opportunity to live, love, and impact are in your heart.

    Grace and glory!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart! God's got you!!"

    40. FALLING IN LOVE: Is there really “the one” or is “the one” YOU?
    1. Why “falling in love” feels like you’re losing your mind—and Amanda’s experience when Glennon fell hard for Abby.  2. Why Abby thinks the idea of “the one” is the most romantic way to live, and why Amanda thinks “the one” is unromantic and uninteresting.   3. Glennon’s belief that loves are like plants: some loves are perennials that continue to bloom, others are annuals, full for a season and then back to earth to nourish soil—but that no love is ever, ever wasted.   4. Why so many of us either think we can be fixed by love, or that we can fix others with our love.
