How To Overcome The Problem That Holds Most People Back | A GaryVee TV Classic

    enDecember 04, 2020

    Podcast Summary

    • Focus on the process, not validationArtists should create for the love of it, not for commercial success. Embrace the journey and be grateful for support from loved ones.

Artists should focus on their process and not get overly attached to the validation they receive from their work. Gary Vee emphasizes that it's natural for some pieces to be successful and others not, and it's important not to take it personally. Instead, artists should make their art for the sake of creating it, and not for the commercial success. Additionally, it's important to shut out external pressures and focus on being grateful for the support and shelter provided by loved ones, even if it may feel like a setback in comparison to societal expectations. Remember, every artist's journey is unique, and success often comes with time and persistence.

    • Believing in yourself leads to opportunitiesBelieve in your worth, stay focused and consistent, surround yourself with positivity, and trust in your abilities to seize opportunities.

No matter your age or background, believing in your worth and putting yourself out there can lead to great opportunities. The speaker shares her personal experience of starting over after dedicating 12 years of her career to her family business, and the importance she places on self-worth in her work. She emphasizes the power of staying focused and consistent, even in the face of insecurity and ego. Additionally, she highlights the importance of surrounding oneself with positivity and support, whether through music or relationships. Ultimately, the speaker encourages everyone to trust in their abilities and put themselves out there, as one moment can change their world.

    • Embrace negativity and learn from failureArtists should view criticism as necessary for growth and embrace failure as part of the creative process. Find joy in the process of creating and don't let validation define you.

Artists, including Diana, need to embrace negativity and reframe their perspective on failure in order to grow and succeed. Diana's experience on TikTok, where she started to push herself out of her comfort zone but also sought validation through the platform, highlights the importance of getting comfortable with criticism and learning to view it as a necessary part of the creative process. The speaker encourages Diana to see the value in putting herself out there every day, even if the response is negative, as a way to build resilience and improve her craft. Additionally, it's important for artists to not let the validation of their work define them, but rather find enjoyment in the process of creating and putting themselves out there. The speaker uses the analogy of training for a fight to emphasize the importance of preparing for and embracing challenges in order to grow and become stronger.

    • The pursuit of perfection can hinder progressFocus on the process, be thankful for opportunities, and communicate effectively with loved ones to maintain progress and reduce stress.

Striving for perfection can hinder progress and lead to unnecessary stress. The speaker expresses his belief that perfection is a subjective concept and a veil for procrastination. He encourages focusing on the process rather than the end result and being thankful for opportunities, even if they seem unexpected. The speaker also emphasizes the importance of understanding and communicating with loved ones, especially when their expectations don't align with our individual paths in life. Instead of defending ourselves, he suggests becoming more selfless and considering their perspective while maintaining our unique way of living.

    • Express gratitude and validate parents' concernsAcknowledging and understanding parents' feelings can deepen connections and lead to meaningful conversations. By expressing gratitude and validating their concerns, you can build a stronger relationship and create an open environment for sharing thoughts and feelings.

Changing the dynamic of communication with parents by expressing gratitude and understanding their concerns, rather than being defensive, can lead to deeper connections and more meaningful conversations. By acknowledging and validating their feelings, you can build a stronger relationship and create an environment where both parties can share their thoughts and feelings openly. This approach can help parents better understand you and your perspective, and it may even lead to them sharing their own experiences and insights. Remember, the goal is not to change them, but to foster mutual understanding and appreciation.

The Ultimate Marketing Strategy to Apply for Your Business Today

Today's episode is a keynote I gave in Dubai last year. I talk about the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest changes in platforms and popular culture. I emphasize that if you obsess over these two things, you will consistently produce better content.

I also stress the importance of communication in achieving your goals, both professionally and personally. I discuss the commoditization of products and the shift towards the ability to create demand for them. My talk emphasizes the importance of modern branding and the art of producing compelling content through pictures, videos, and written words.

Ultimately, this talk serves as a wake-up call to those who have not yet committed to producing content for their business. If you are not producing content every day, you are leaving opportunity on the table.

Marketing/Growth Tactics That Cost Nothing Part 2 [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Are you looking for advice on how to grow and market your business, but worried you don’t have the budget?

Listen in to part two of this invaluable mini series and discover 5 more growth marketing tactics that cost absolutely nothing. Join Rob as he discusses the importance of the ‘related search’ function on Google and LinkedIn, how consistent content uploads can increase your following and reach and why you should never be afraid to put your prices up.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • The ‘Related Search’ function on Google and LinkedIn can help you find new clients to work with. As soon as you have got one or two clients, search their name on Google or LinkedIn and the algorithm will suggest people who are similar to your existing clients. You want to get more clients who are already like your existing clients.

    • You can also do ‘job title search’ on LinkedIn. LinkedIn  is the only platform whereby you can search by job title. Once you have got a few clients from a specific industry, you can search for that job role on LinkedIn and find other people in your clients’ industry. Once you have found them, do not spam them. Find them, connect with them and write them a personal message.

    • Consistent content marketing is underrated. Many people are not consistent with their content marketing, they do not stick with a regular upload schedule and leave their followers in the dark. It is better to do four pieces of content each week for months on end, than it is to do sporadic, inconsistent uploads.

    • Start getting used to putting your content out there. Be consistent with creating new content and you will eventually build compounding momentum. This momentum will lead to higher engagement rates, new followers and an increase of likes and comments.

    • Up your prices. If you up your prices, then the margin of your increased prices is almost 100%. You are already paying all of your overhead on your existing prices, if you put your prices up by 10% the majority of that is profit. As soon as you put your prices up you can potentially double your profits each time.  Don’t be scared to put your prices up.

“The related search strategy is really good for finding clients that are like your clients.”

“Big media companies are looking for articles on these breaking news subjects.”
