How to Thrive in the Biggest Era of Change Since the iPhone | SIGMA UAE Keynote

    enMarch 23, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Invest in your communications infrastructureFocus on creating high-quality content and consistently engaging potential customers to build demand for your product or service

In today's fast-paced world, the ability to effectively communicate and create demand for your product or service is more valuable than ever. Gary Vaynerchuk emphasized that as technology advances, creating a product or service has become more accessible and commoditized, but getting people to understand and want it is the key to success. He encourages everyone to focus on building a communications infrastructure by consistently producing high-quality content and information to reach and engage potential customers. This is essential for both personal and professional growth, as failure to effectively communicate can result in someone else capitalizing on your opportunities. Google, Shopify, and other platforms are examples of companies that have built their success on enabling individuals to create demand and reach customers. So, invest in your communications infrastructure and don't let opportunities pass you by.

    • Investing in human aspects of marketingFocus on creating compelling visual and written content to build brand awareness and consumer demand, reducing customer acquisition costs and adding leverage for capital raising.

While technology and automation have been the focus for business growth in the last 20 years, the future lies in investing in the human aspects of marketing, particularly in creating compelling visual and written content. The speaker emphasizes that as technology becomes more commoditized, the true differentiator will be the ability to produce engaging and authentic branding. Companies are currently underperforming in this area and missing opportunities to reduce customer acquisition costs and build meaningful relationships with their audience. Instead of solely relying on referral fees and affiliates, businesses should invest in creating content for various platforms to build brand awareness and consumer demand. This approach not only improves customer acquisition but also adds leverage when raising capital. In essence, combining technology and math with modern branding and art can provide businesses with the competitive edge they need in today's market.

    • Embrace the art of creative social media marketing for growthInvest strategically in social media marketing for long-term success, as the current opportunity mirrors the 1960s and television. Despite common misconceptions, not all frequent posters are effective marketers, and underpriced organic reach and paid media make it an ideal time for businesses to invest.

Companies of all sizes need to significantly increase their social media presence, aiming for 15 to 30 posts per day across various platforms. This is due to the lack of strategic thinking that has long been a problem in social media marketing. The speaker draws a comparison to the 1960s and television, where a few companies saw the potential and invested strategically, leading to long-term success. Today, there's a similar opportunity in social media, but with far fewer people effectively harnessing its power. The speaker encourages those in the room to move beyond the easy, numbers-driven approach and embrace the art of creative social media marketing for substantial growth. He also points out that many people who have been using social media for years may not actually be good at it, despite their regular posting. Lastly, he emphasizes that all major social media platforms are currently underpriced in terms of organic reach and paid media, making this an ideal time for businesses to invest in social media marketing.

    • A new era of social media marketing based on content strengthIn this evolving social media landscape, creating valuable content consistently is crucial for reaching large audiences, regardless of follower count.

We are entering a new era of social media marketing where content strength, rather than follower count, determines reach. This shift, as seen on platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts, means that even small businesses and individuals can potentially reach large audiences. However, this requires a commitment to producing valuable content consistently. As technology continues to evolve and big tech companies face pressure, those who have strong relationships with their audiences will be less vulnerable to being charged more. So, focus on creating valuable content for your audience to build a strong relationship and secure your business's leverage.

    • Investing in brand and content creation crucial for long-term successBuilding a brand and relationship with end users is essential, investing in content creation for social media is key, and failure to adapt in the digital world could result in being left behind.

The importance of building a brand and relationship with end users, rather than relying on intermediaries for revenue, is crucial in today's digital landscape. The speaker expressed concern about the number of individuals and businesses not recognizing this shift and urged the audience to act upon it. He emphasized that investing in content creation for social media platforms, particularly in regions with attractive talent costs, is essential for long-term success. With the increasing commoditization of digital services and the potential impact on profit margins, the speaker emphasized the urgency of this issue. He also acknowledged the need for improvement among intermediaries and encouraged everyone to educate themselves on the subject. In essence, the speaker's message was that the digital world is evolving rapidly, and those who fail to adapt and invest in their brand and content creation will be left behind.

    • Stay curious to thrive in the age of changeCuriosity is essential for personal growth and success, especially in the rapidly changing technological landscape. Firsthand experience and knowledge are crucial, and those who remain curious and open-minded will be best positioned to navigate Web 3.0 and its technologies like crypto, NFTs, QR codes, and AI.

Curiosity is a crucial aspect of personal growth and success, especially in the context of the rapidly changing technological landscape we're currently experiencing. The speaker emphasized that everyone in attendance is already ahead of the curve, but we must remain curious and open-minded to fully capitalize on the opportunities that lie ahead. Web 3.0, which includes technologies like crypto, NFTs, QR codes, AI, and more, is bringing about significant change, and those who are curious and willing to dive deep will be best positioned to navigate this new era. The speaker also highlighted the importance of having firsthand experience and knowledge, rather than relying on opinions based on limited information. In essence, curiosity is the key to staying ahead and thriving in the face of change.

    • Embrace curiosity and new connectionsMeeting new people at conferences can lead to valuable opportunities, so don't be shy and introduce yourself.

At this stage in life, being open to new ideas and curious about the world around us is crucial for success in the age of technology. Surrounding yourself with curious people and actively seeking out new connections can lead to valuable opportunities. While the content of conferences is important, the people in attendance offer the greatest potential return on investment. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself to new people. The relationships you form could lead to unexpected opportunities. Remember, the most valuable things you'll gain from a conference may not come from the stage, but from the people you meet.

    • The Future of AI and Web 3: Embracing ChangeAI and web 3 technologies will change the way we interact with the digital world, creating both challenges and opportunities. Decentralized servers and smart contracts will eliminate friction, while AI will revolutionize content creation. Embrace innovation and adapt to the changing technological landscape.

While there may be concerns about AI and web 3 taking jobs and causing friction, these technologies are inevitable and will shape the future. As the speaker points out, innovation has always led to job displacement, but it also creates new opportunities. Decentralized servers and smart contracts are profound technologies that will change the way we interact with the digital world. The next few years will see efforts to eliminate the friction and make these technologies more accessible to the masses. The speaker is excited about web 3 and sees a future where everyone will be interacting with decentralized servers at scale. As for AI, while there are concerns about copyright and trademark, the speaker sees potential in using AI for content creation but is currently building insular datasets to mitigate risks. Overall, the discussion emphasizes the importance of embracing innovation and adapting to the changing technological landscape.

    • The Future of Content: Long and Short FormStay informed, flexible, and consistent in content creation to succeed in the ever-evolving digital landscape. Adapt to changing platforms and supply and demand dynamics to maximize opportunities.

Content creation and consumption patterns continue to evolve, with both short and long form content having a place in the future. Gary Vaynerchuk, in the discussion, expressed his belief in the longevity of long form content despite the rise of short form video platforms. He emphasized that humans have always consumed various forms of content and will continue to do so. He also highlighted the importance of adapting to changing platforms and supply and demand dynamics to maximize opportunities. Additionally, Gary shared his excitement about the potential of using data from years of content creation to build AI reality and help others. Overall, the key takeaway is that staying informed, flexible, and consistent in content creation is crucial for success in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

    • Stay informed and adapt to cultural shifts for relevant contentStay updated on the latest trends and cultural shifts to create relevant content. Be thoughtful and optimistic in your approach to technology and its potential biases.

Staying informed and obsessed with platforms and culture is key to consistently producing relevant content. The speaker emphasizes that what works today may not work tomorrow, but understanding the latest trends and cultural shifts can help you adapt and over-index in your content creation. Additionally, the speaker challenges the notion of AI bias and encourages being thoughtful and optimistic rather than cynical. They emphasize the importance of observing and adapting to changes, rather than predicting or guessing. In the context of Web 3, the speaker sees similarities to previous technological shifts and encourages staying informed and adaptable to the latest trends. They also emphasize the importance of being thoughtful and optimistic in our approach to technology and its potential biases.

    • Marketing Shifts: The Rise of Connected TV and Community BuildingTraditional TV ads are fading, focus on community building through valuable content, authenticity, vulnerability, and teaching critical thinking skills in education.

The next few years will see a shift in marketing trends, with traditional television advertising likely to become obsolete due to the rise of connected TV and streaming services. Meanwhile, building a community through creating valuable content is crucial, and education should focus on teaching critical thinking skills rather than rote memorization. The speaker emphasizes the importance of authenticity, vulnerability, and creating content that matters. Additionally, he believes that the education system needs to evolve to keep up with the times and effectively teach critical thinking skills to young people. He advocates for students to take control of their learning and seek out valuable information beyond the classroom.

    • The future of data privacy lies in decentralized serversDecentralized servers offer more secure data sharing as no single entity owns the information, but education on critical thinking skills is necessary for informed data sharing decisions

The future of data privacy lies in decentralized servers, where no single entity owns the data. This is because people are more likely to share everything if they believe no one can take it, leading us towards web 3 decentralized servers. However, there's a need for critical thinking skills to be taught in schools to help individuals decipher information and make informed decisions about what data to share. The promise of decentralized servers is that they are not owned by anyone, making data more secure. The challenge is to ensure that everyone understands this concept and acts accordingly. The conversation also touched upon the importance of giving feedback and engaging in discussions to further explore ideas.

The Most Important Question In Business

The Most Important Question In Business

Here’s the problem most people run into when they create content online: They think they have to have something to say. So many of you aren’t putting out content online because you think you need to have the perfect message, or something “valuable” to share (based on your own arbitrary opinion). And what I’m telling you is, you will get more business if you put out literally anything. If you’re an auto dealer, you could put out a 5 min video every afternoon just recapping what happened in your day. If you’re a real estate agent, you could post updates on what your opinions are about the Super Bowl teams. Get on social media and tell your truth … it’s really that simple.

Marketing/Growth Tactics That Cost Nothing [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Marketing/Growth Tactics That Cost Nothing [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Starting a business in this financial climate can be tough, discover today how to keep your marketing costs down as Rob busts the myth that marketing is expensive! He talks about free marketing tactics with proven success, such as how engaging with other influencers can help organically grow your market, the beauty of handwritten letters and how to grow your following on the new social media platform Clubhouse.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Commenting on other influencers posts if a brilliant free marketing tactic. Get the top 100 influencers in your space and niche on Instagram, Facebook and Youtube, turn the notifications on so that you are notified when they post. When they post, engage with them by having a meaningful discussion and debate.

    • You need to be seen by people in order to engage and interact with them. You can get up on the stage in other people's clubhouse rooms and get known by answering people's questions. You can even start your own room which will help up your following.

    • When you repurpose content across multiple channels, it gives you extra leverage. Instead of having to create content for Facebook Lives, Podcasts, Youtube Videos etc you can get multiple repurposing by using the same content across different platforms. Each time you put it on a new channel you get more interest and engagement and naturally you will gain more followers.

    • Handwritten letters are so underrated. You are unlikely to throw away an envelope that came through the post containing a handwritten letter on high quality paper. For collaborations, partnerships or promotional purposes, take your time and hand write them letters.

    • If you send emails out, put a call to action in your P.S. Any email you send out should contain a P.S for your book, podcast or social media pages. People always read the P.S but may not always read the content within the emails.

    BEST MOMENTS

“If you do that, and you do that regularly, and you do that in your niche, then you’re going to build your own following for free.”

“Once you get seen, then I know who you are and I can bring you into the discussion.”

“People will promote your products and services, even if you’re bigger than them.”

    Show Summary:

An Interview: Get Off Your Ass & Get Noticed With Chase Jarvis

A little while ago I got the chance to sit down with my man Chase Jarvis and talk about how to stand out when there’s so much chatter happening around you. Thumbstopping power is key right now. You need to be able to produce content that provides enough value that a consumer stops and watches your content instead of blowing right past it. Thinking you’re going to drive results within 90 days just isn’t going to happen. Deploying patience and keeping consistent, even if that consistency is in change is what you NEED to be doing if you’re trying to become successful. Give this one a listen and stick to it. DM me and let me know what you thought. :) :)
