How To Win Sales Without Being Skilled | Ep 203

    enMay 05, 2020

    Podcast Summary

    • Understanding customer needs leads to salesShift focus from seller's needs to buyer's needs to build stronger connections and increase sales chances.

The key to making a sale is to genuinely care about the customer's interests more than they care about their own needs. This mindset shift was instrumental in turning around the sales performance of a struggling gym. The speaker emphasizes that every sale is made by either the buyer selling to the seller or the seller selling to the buyer. However, the person who genuinely cares about the buyer's needs and interests is the one who will ultimately win the sale. This concept was so profound for the speaker that he incorporated it into his new phone sales training. By adopting this perspective, salespeople can build stronger connections with their customers and increase their chances of closing deals. Remember, the sale is not just about meeting your own goals, but about understanding and addressing the customer's needs.

    • Building trust and rapport with clients is key to successful sales in fitness industriesDemonstrate genuine care for the client's agenda to build trust and rapport, resulting in successful sales

Successful sales in fitness industries depend on building trust and rapport with clients. The salesperson must genuinely care about the client's best interests more than their own. People bring emotional baggage, including shame and guilt, which makes trust-building challenging. The moment a client trusts the salesperson is when the sale is won. Even if a client cannot afford the service, the salesperson and client become allies, working together to find a solution. The key to winning sales is demonstrating genuine care for the client's agenda. Some salespeople may not be the most skilled but follow a script and still succeed due to their focus on the client's interests.

    • Believe in your product and help customers overcome doubtsSuccessful sales involves genuine belief in product, helping customers confront limiting beliefs, and building relationships based on trust and commitment to their goals.

Having conviction in your product and genuinely believing that you can help the customer is crucial for successful sales. Sales is not just about closing deals, but also about coaching people to confront their limiting beliefs and make positive changes in their lives. Personality-driven salespeople, who genuinely care about helping others, can get away with lacking sales skills because their clients trust them to act in their best interest. By approaching sales from the perspective of helping the customer and believing that they truly need your product, you can help them overcome their doubts and make a commitment to change. Remember, sales is about building relationships and making a difference in people's lives. So, be authentic, be compassionate, and be committed to helping your customers achieve their goals.

    • Consistency is key to success at rep 25Advanced individuals in sales and other fields execute consistently to achieve success, emphasized by a salesperson's realization at rep 25.

Consistency in execution is key to success, whether it's in sales, lifting weights, or professional development. This was highlighted in a conversation about a salesperson who realized his mistake of focusing on his own agenda instead of the other person's at rep 25, a seemingly magical number. Advanced individuals in any field, be it sales or weightlifting, don't change their tactics but rather execute them consistently over time. In business and sales, the best performers are those who never neglect the basics. The importance of this concept was emphasized when discussing the professional development of high-level entrepreneurs, who need to acquire a multitude of skills to progress, and consistency in executing those skills is crucial.

    • The Importance of Character Traits and Beliefs in EntrepreneurshipSkills are vital for entrepreneurial success, but patience, endurance, and discipline are equally important. As entrepreneurs advance, they must focus on developing character traits and beliefs to continue growing.

While having various skills is essential for entrepreneurial success, it's not the only factor. The ability to execute those skills with patience, endurance, and discipline is equally important. Moreover, as entrepreneurs progress, they need to develop the necessary character traits and beliefs to continue growing. The skills required to be successful change at each level, making the entrepreneurial journey an ever-evolving process. In the beginning, acquiring new skills is crucial. However, as one advances, focusing on character traits becomes equally important. Lastly, having the right beliefs about the world, the market, and what's possible can significantly impact an entrepreneur's organization's speed and excellence.

    • The Importance of Caring for the Buyer's Outcome in SalesGenuinely caring about the buyer's outcome leads to trust and openness during the closing process, helping them focus on moving forward.

In entrepreneurship, growth is a continuous process that requires maintaining and developing new skills, beliefs, and character traits. It's a cyclical and sometimes painful experience, but the desire to improve keeps us going. When it comes to closing sales, the person who genuinely cares about the buyer's outcome will be the most successful. If the buyer cares more about their outcome than you do, they will make the decision based on their own interests. However, if you genuinely care about their outcome and confront their beliefs from that place, they will trust you and be more open to your suggestions during the closing process. This genuine care will help them leave their baggage behind and focus on moving forward.

What is CRM? | How to Use Marketing Automation to Increase Your Sales Success

What is CRM? | How to Use Marketing Automation to Increase Your Sales Success

Follow up is the key to being successful. It's what separates successful entrepreneurs and unsuccessful entrepreneurs or even salespeople in general. The people that are successful are the people that follow up the most. They follow up religiously using a CRM.

It takes a lot of time to figure out what to do, who to reach out to, when to reach out to them, who not to forget when to follow up… unless you have a system.  And I’m not talking pen and paper. You’ll quickly grow out of that type of tracking because you are leveling up in your business, right? You need to have a Customer Relationship Management software or tool.

A CRM keeps track of your potential client and client’s names, emails, phone numbers, and any other details you wish to record.  The CRM will guide you on how often to follow up as well.

Using Marketing Automation Software in tandem with a CRM really takes you to the next level of powerful automation to support your business growth.  Marketing Automation Software gets set up to automatically email people who come into your email list. Emails can go out to them over a period of time to stay in touch and market your product/service.

When you continue to build your list, the more people you're able to email and the more people you're able to get on the phone  with to convert/close and grow your business. This is part of the science of the sale that I speak about.  This is utilizing systems that can save you time, energy, and increase your revenue exponentially.
