    About this Episode

I have a pet peeve, and it's the messages going around on Social Media that if you haven't "Niched down" to a minute level you won't be successful... quite frankly it's bullshit.

There are so many businesses out there that would not benefit from only targeting for example "accountants" and I myself have pushed back on many marketers and business coaches who have tried to tell me I should only be selling to one industry.

Why do I know that this is detrimental to my business and truly shit advice?

Because my marketing model and the things I implement for businesses are unique... sure there is a base of how I work and what I do, but the whole point of what I offer is the fact that it's not cookie-cutter.

So in this episode, I hopefully open your mind up to thinking about nicheing differently and think about how your messaging needs to hit the market you choose.

Being so specific about who we serve that we ignore entire markets begging for our service/product isn't beneficial and it won't give you longevity in your business.

Algorithm chasing won't save your business

Algorithm chasing won't save your business

Where ever there is a social media channel there is a specialist telling you how to hack the Algorithm so you get the best engagement and can have a six figure business.

Today I kinda wanna call bullshit... (sorry)

How quick are we to forget that these social media platforms exist for the sole purpose of making money off us, the consumer, the user.
So why do we think they're telling anyone outside the fold how to 'hack' the system.
Reality is they're only telling us what they want us to think based on how they're going to make sales...

These gurus are the modern day weightloss fad diet specialists.

The best way to build a business isn't by using hack methods... it's through strategy, research and scaling through methods that are going to ensure the longevity of your business.

Are you making emotional or educated decisions?

What is making the decisions in your business? Your emotions or are you making decisions from an educated viewpoint.

The problem with making emotional decisions is it leads us to do things like following trends, copying our competitors, and not staying solid to our own strategies and business goals.

People don't see everything you're doing

People don't see everything you're doing

You're not alone if you are caught up thinking everyone is following your every move... But the reality check is, they're not.
They're most likely caught up in their own sh*t and only notice about 5% of what it is that you do (stat for effect not actually real.)
So this isn't a reason to get upset and feel like everything you do has no impact or effect...
It is the reality check you need so that you repurpose your content better...

The biggest mistake we make is thinking that our potential customers see absolutely every piece of marketing we put out into the world - because we're so popular right? WRONG.
They will see approximately 50% of it (if you're lucky.)
So don't get caught in the trap of not putting something in the world over and over again for fear of someone noticing.
No one will notice... we're all too busy caught up in our own lives.
The hope is that we will capture them at the RIGHT time, with the RIGHT message when they're ready to make a purchase decision

Marketing the conversation no one wants to have with Nikki Shah

Nikki Shah is the visionary behind MyMuse created to change the way cancer is seen and managed within the workplace.

In this episode, Nikki and I dive into how to market when the topic is so triggering and challenging for people to want to hear.

I love this chat where we tackle how to tackle those challenging topics, and bring awareness to them.

Nikki is the founder of MyMuse. She has had quite the journey, which has led her to set up a social impact business that bridges the gap for employers and employees going through cancer, a life-altering illness, or a carer journey.

Nikki has a team of psychologists, oncologists, palliative care, legal, HR and policy writers who develop co-designed programs, training and workshops for the likes of Lend Lease and EML to name a few.

Providing them with proactive solutions for when this happens in their workforce and how to support the individual as well as the rest of the team or even company.

MyMuse has been the finalist to the Blackmores Women + Wellness awards 2020, University of Sydney Genesis Program Finalist 2020 and 2021 and winner of The Hub Flexi Impact Program 2021.

Good old instant gratification - and why it is problematic for US as marketers, content creators and business owners

Good old instant gratification - and why it is problematic for US as marketers, content creators and business owners

Following on from Last week's episode I wanted to jump on the band wagon again about Instant Gratification, but this time why I see it harming business owners.

As business owners we're also get caught up in this need for instant gratification... because we expect instant validation on any marketing that we do... and we have forgotten the key thing when it comes to marketing - especially organic marketing is TIME.

But because we see all these "overnight" successes we automatically assume that should happen for us.. and it just isn't the case.

This is why it is so important to pick channels you can be consistent at, because organic marketing is a long game, hell any marketing, any business building is a long game...

We can however make the journey enjoyable by picking channels which are right for us and only spending time and energy doing marketing (based on research) that will actually help us grow our business.

Designing Your Digital Experience with Clare Walter

Designing Your Digital Experience with Clare Walter

I am so excited for this episode and bring Clare Walter into the world of podcasting!

We are talking all things designing your digital experience and how you have to craft this for your unique client!

We chat through using these personas of these clients to understand how better they may use our website, and therefore how we can craft our websites to make their user experience even better - and of course increase conversion!

Clare is a Brand & Web Designer, and Digital design specialist. She has 2 decades of experience across big corporations where she headed up teams of digital designers taking care of global web and app platforms as well as design agencies, looking after clients from finance to broadcast media to healthcare.

After having 2 little people, Clare decided she wanted to take her expertise and goals into her own hands and went out on her own to create Clare Walter Design. She began helping her clients do the same: go from working for a big corporate with limited flexibility, to running their own successful businesses on their terms around the life they choose. She helps her clients start strong with a unique brand based on research, and an impressive online presence that ultimately helps them land ideal clients of their own.

Good old instant gratification - and why it is problematic for our customer journeys

Good old instant gratification - and why it is problematic for our customer journeys

We live in a world now where we can literally get everything instantly.
And therefore we expect everything instantly.
And if you're a brand who doesn't deliver on this expectation, or set a new expectation unfortunately you may receive some backlash!
It's a problem for consumers and brands really...
And in this episode I am going to explain why you have to take this constant need for 'instantness' into account when mapping out your customer journeys.
