    About this Episode

    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!

Here we want to help you reach your personal and professional goals without losing your soul. Our goal is to have the next generation of leaders reach their goals and at the same time say, "it is well with my soul."

Today's podcast guest is my good friend Fran Lamatinna. Fran is the President and Founder of Strategies for Greatness, an executive coaching practice that serves leaders of organizations and work teams to be more effective. Fran has been coaching since 1999, achieving her Master Coach Certification (MCC) and Board Certified Coach designation (BCC) in the early days of the profession. Recently, Fran completed a Doctorate in Professional Coaching and Human Development (PhD). She has established a niche with organizational leaders, especially in the areas of strategic planning, team effectiveness, assessments, and emotional intelligence.

Fran draws from over 20 years of business experience in the areas of marketing, sales/business development, finance, technology, operations and organizational development prior to entering the coaching profession. She founded and developed the women’s ministry at North Point Community Church in Atlanta Georgia under the leadership of Andy Stanley for 12 years, and she has been an active member and officer on the boards of many organisations.

In part one of this episode, Fran talks about the importance of having healthy conflict even when working virtually. Out tendency on virtual calls is to play nice and be less assertive than in person. But great teams work through healthy conflict no matter what to get the best outcomes. I also loved how she acknowledged the best teams have a full compliment of personalities on the team. Don’t miss part two of the conversation as Fran explains some of the classic ways these personalities types fall into unhealthy conflict with other team members and how to work through it. Fran will also talk about practices of soul care with each personality profile also. So don’t miss part two!

Perko's Podcast Episode 034: Journey of the Soul Part Two w/ Bill and Kristie Gaultiere

    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!

It is my pleasure to speak with Bill and Kristie Gaultiere today on the podcast...

Bill is a psychologist and ordained pastor, specializing in ministry to pastors. He and Kristi are the authors of Journey of the Soul, which was #1 on Amazon in Christian Counseling. He was personally mentored for many years by Dallas Willard and Ray Ortlund Sr. His earlier book Your Best Life in Jesus’ Easy Yoke tells the story of his spiritual renewal from anxious living and burnout and introduces the message and way of Soul Shepherding.

As a Spiritual Formation Pastor, he’s served in a mega-church and a church plant. He’s also trained over 1,000 lay counselors and taught courses in Christian psychology and spirituality at the graduate school level. He and Kristi train pastors and other men and women in ministry in their Soul Shepherding Institute and Spiritual Direction certificate program. Bill has been speaking in churches and conferences since 1987 and especially enjoys speaking with Kristi. You can listen to their weekly Soul Talks podcast or read their weekly Soul Shepherding blog, which we will also link for you in the show notes.

Kristi is a psychotherapist and spiritual director for women in ministry and pastors’ wives. She co-leads Soul Shepherding with Bill. She was personally mentored by Jane Willard and Dr. Jan Stoop. As a pastor’s wife, mother, and ministry professional, Kristi offers empathy and wisdom from her experience personally and as a therapist who has spent many thousands of hours caring for people. Kristi enjoys speaking, training, teaching, consulting, counseling, and retreat leading with Bill, as well as recording their weekly Soul Talks podcast.

I enjoyed talking to Bill and Kristie about their newest book, Journey of the Soul, and I hope that this conversation and these resources will also be helpful for you in your own soul care journey. Let’s begin the conversation with Bill and Kristie…

Perko's Podcast Episode 033: Keeping Your Soul Sane in Seasons of Change Part Two w/ Clay Scroggins

Perko's Podcast Episode 033: Keeping Your Soul Sane in Seasons of Change Part Two w/ Clay Scroggins

    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!

Well, it is my pleasure to introduce you to today’s guest, Clay Scroggins. Clay resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife Jenny and 5 kids. He is a speaker, writer and he creates content and resources on personal development for emerging leaders. Recently, Clay has gone through a major shift in his life that we talk about on the podcast where he resigned from his role of Lead Pastor at a North Point campus to pursue a career in writing and speaking. Clay originally graduated from Georgia Tech as an Industrial Engineer and then spent 20 years serving the local church.

Clay and I talk about  the liminal space he is currently in, how to keep your soul sane in a season of change, and what things are looking like for his future. He has written three books including How to Lead in a World of Distraction and How to Lead When You’re Not in Charge. Clay is a mastermind at taking what is typically only written for the head of the company or the primary leader of an organisation and making it applicable to everyone.

Clay also has a new book that just came out on January 11th called The Aspiring Leader’s Guide to the Future: 9 Surprising Ways Leadership is Changing. Clay addresses topics such as vulnerability being a strength, how to perceive and embrace failure, how to build and gain trust, and how to not only brace for change, but embrace it as well.

Perko's Podcast Episode 032, Part Two: Creating a Life Manifesto w/ Sidhara Udalagama

Perko's Podcast Episode 032, Part Two: Creating a Life Manifesto w/ Sidhara Udalagama

    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!

Well, today on the podcast we are doing something a little bit different than we would usually do. Part of what I do beyond recording podcasts is coaching leaders through various exercises that help them to reach their goals without losing their souls. My friend Sidhara Udalagama was kind enough to let me facilitate one of these exercises for her called a Life Manifesto. A life manifesto is the exercise of prayer and thought to develop wording around how you want to live your one and only life. I thought that since we are approaching a new year when most of us typically evaluate and set goals for the next 365 days that this would be a great exercise to share with you.

My friend Sid is an amazing speaker, creative and corporate consultant. Sid grew up in Sri Lanka but spent her adult years in England working in full time ministry after graduating with an MSc in Occupational Psychology.  Sid is currently working with Compassion Australia which is a fantastic organisation and you will hear more about her work shortly.

Sid is passionate about people fulfilling their God given potential in this world and becoming all that they were created to be. Both her roles in the church and corporate world enable her to outwork this passion. She is a powerful and gifted communicator of God’s Word and loves that the Bible has the power to change lives.

Sidhara is married to her husband Dev and enjoys eating, traveling the world and repeating those two things... preferably together.

Perko's Podcast Episode 031: Soul Care During the Holidays

    Welcome back to Perko's Podcast!

Today is a very special edition of the podcast just in time for the holidays. Maybe you are already feeling stressed about the holiday season...maybe you feel tension with family members, anxiety about travelings, or pressure to get someone the perfect gift. But what would happen if we prioritized our soul during the holiday season and that allowed us to love others well? Today my good friend Duncan Banks took over the hosting mic to interview me about soul care during the holidays. I hope that this episode blessed you and those you come into contact with this season.
