    enSeptember 07, 2020

    Podcast Summary

    • Expanding experiences and serving others for happinessQuestion education, seek new experiences, practice meditation, and serve others for a happier, more fulfilling life

We all have the potential to be happy and fulfilled by serving others and expanding our experiences, rather than being limited by our own self-imposed prisons. Jay Shetty, a former monk and social media sensation, shares his insights on this topic in his new book "Think Like a Monk." Shetty encourages us to question our education and exposure to different ways of thinking, and to recognize that there is an infinite number of opportunities for happiness available to us. He also emphasizes the importance of meditation as a tool for self-improvement and mindfulness. In the discussion, Rich Roll mentions his own experience with the meditation app "Waking Up," which offers a wealth of resources beyond just meditation, including courses on various topics like stoicism and cognitive behavioral therapy. Overall, the message is to not limit ourselves and to actively seek out new experiences and perspectives in order to live a more meaningful and joyful life.

    • Jay Shetty discusses the importance of living a life of purpose and serviceThrough meditation, mindfulness, and conscious capitalism, Jay Shetty emphasizes the importance of living a life of purpose, using social media for good, and prioritizing service to others.

Jay Shetty, a spiritual leader and author, shares his experiences of seeking meaning and purpose in life through meditation, mindfulness, and conscious capitalism. He emphasizes the importance of living a life of service and using social media as a tool for good. Jay also discusses his personal experiences, including the transformative impact of his wife and the challenges they faced during a period of significant change in his career. Ultimately, the conversation highlights the importance of resilience, communication, and mutual support in maintaining a strong and meaningful relationship.

    • Prioritizing loved ones and building communityFocusing on loved ones' well-being and investing in community connections can lead to a more fulfilling life.

Building a fulfilling life involves prioritizing the needs and happiness of those closest to us. The speaker shared his experience of feeling torn between pursuing his purpose and helping his wife adjust to a new city and community. He learned that when his wife was struggling, his focus needed to be on her well-being, even if it meant setting aside his own goals. The importance of community and social connections in creating a sense of home and belonging was also emphasized. The speaker noted that building relationships takes effort and intentionality, and that meeting people in their natural environments can lead to deeper connections. He also highlighted the value of simplifying complex ideas and making them accessible to a wider audience. Ultimately, the speaker's gift lies in his ability to translate timeless wisdom and spiritual principles into entertaining and digestible content for a mainstream audience.

    • Sharing profound teachings from various philosophies with his communityThe speaker's passion is to understand and share wisdoms from different philosophies to uplift and serve his community.

The speaker, who grew up in London and was exposed to various philosophies, felt a responsibility to share these profound teachings with others, especially those from his community and background. He found it challenging to distill the complex texts into teachable moments, but saw it as a blessing to be able to access and share these wisdoms. The speaker also shared his personal experiences growing up in London, where he was bullied for being Indian and felt the need to rebel against following the rules at the age of 14. He didn't have a conscious memory of making the decision to change, but looking back, he realized it was a response to feeling unfulfilled and unhappy despite being a good student and son. The speaker's passion lies in understanding and sharing these teachings to support and serve others.

    • Pressured to choose safety over passionIndividuals can feel pressured to conform to societal expectations, limiting their career options based on perceived safety and reliability, rather than following their true passions.

Societal expectations and personal passions can sometimes clash, leading individuals to make decisions based on perceived safety and security rather than true interest. The speaker, growing up with Indian parents who valued academic success above all, felt pressured to excel in school. However, they discovered a deep fascination with economics, art, and philosophy. Despite this, they felt limited in their career options and ultimately chose finance due to its stability and reliability. The speaker's art teacher played a crucial role in fostering their curiosity and questioning mindset. However, societal norms and the belief that there were only a few viable career paths led the speaker to make a decision based on safety rather than passion. It's important to remember that everyone's journey is unique, and it's essential to question societal expectations and explore personal passions to find true fulfillment.

    • Understanding abilities and limitations early onSelf-awareness, open-mindedness, and continuous learning lead to unexpected discoveries and growth.

Identifying one's strengths and weaknesses early on in life can lead to greater success in the future. The speaker shared how their school played a pivotal role in helping them understand their abilities and limitations, even going so far as to discourage certain subjects based on their performance. This experience instilled in them a deep appreciation for self-awareness and a desire to continue learning and growing. However, the speaker also emphasized the importance of staying open-minded and being willing to challenge one's preconceived notions. They shared an experience of initially dismissing a monk's teachings but later discovering profound insights through his words. The monk's message of using one's talents and skills to serve others, rather than solely for personal gain, resonated deeply with the speaker and changed the course of their life. Thus, the takeaway is that a combination of self-awareness, a willingness to learn, and an open mind can lead to unexpected discoveries and growth.

    • The Joy of Spiritual EnlightenmentExperiencing true happiness and contentment goes beyond material possessions and societal achievements. Meeting individuals who have dedicated their lives to spiritual enlightenment can inspire us to seek inner joy and fulfillment.

True happiness and contentment cannot be measured by material possessions or societal achievements alone. The speaker was drawn to an individual named Gorongadass, who had given up a promising career to pursue spiritual enlightenment and found immense joy and satisfaction in his decision. This encounter sparked the speaker's curiosity and led them to explore the teachings of Hindu monks, including their spiritual teacher, Radhanath Swami. The speaker emphasizes that the undeniable presence and consciousness of individuals like Gorongadass and Radhanath Swami can only be experienced in person and transcends words. Ultimately, the speaker encourages sharing spiritual teachings in a way that transcends faith, religion, or spiritual tradition.

    • Embracing Authenticity and Meeting People Where They're AtLiving authentically and connecting with people compassionately leads to greater fulfillment.

Living like a monk is not about adopting a specific spiritual tradition or philosophy, but rather about embracing two powerful precepts: authenticity and meeting people where they're at. Authenticity means operating at a high frequency and recognizing when someone is genuine or pretending. Meeting people where they're at means communicating and connecting with them in a compassionate way, without judgment or expectation of advancedness. The monk's teachings allowed the speaker to experience both worlds – living in the city and living in an ashram – and they found greater satisfaction and fulfillment in the latter, where they could practice compassion and other virtues in a real way.

    • The monk's journey of sharing his knowledgeReturning from a transformative experience, the monk found joy in sharing his knowledge with others through teaching and discussions.

The monk's experience of leaving his monastery and re-entering the world presented unique challenges in maintaining the principles he had learned. He found it difficult to connect with his old friends and their conversations, especially when it came to topics like women. However, he also discovered that sharing his knowledge with others was the best way to help them understand and connect with these principles. This led him to start a society at university where he would discuss philosophical, scientific, and spiritual topics based on movies. This experience was the beginning of his fascination with teaching and sharing what he had learned, which eventually evolved into the videos he creates today. The idea of returning from a transformative experience and sharing it with others is a common theme, as seen in the story of Headspace's founding. The monk's journey shows the importance of staying true to one's values and finding creative ways to share them with others.

    • Living a Meaningful Life: Continuous Learning, Service, and OpportunitiesEmbrace continuous learning, practice selfless service, and recognize the limitless opportunities for growth and impact.

Living a meaningful life involves continuous learning, service to others, and recognizing the limitless opportunities available. The speaker shares how their personal experiences, including becoming a monk at a young age, have shaped their perspective on life and the importance of selfless service. They emphasize that service can take many forms, from volunteering at a soup kitchen to using one's talents and skills to benefit others. The speaker encourages us to expand our horizons, expose ourselves to diverse methods of thought, and recognize that life is not just about ourselves. They remind us that the practice of service and living a meaningful life is an ongoing journey, and that we can all make a difference in the world by using our unique gifts to serve others and support ourselves. The story of the two monks washing their bowls illustrates the importance of compassion and service, even when it comes with personal sacrifice.

    • The Importance of Serving OthersServing others improves mental health, happiness, and overall well-being. Focusing on personal gain may lead to temporary satisfaction, but serving ultimately leads to greater fulfillment and success.

Despite being naturally wired to serve, we often get lost in the education and societal pressures to become self-centered. However, studies show that helping others improves mental health, happiness, and overall well-being. The monk's story illustrates the importance of staying true to our service-oriented nature, even when it's not convenient. The mentality of focusing solely on personal gain may lead to temporary satisfaction, but the deeper need for service and problem-solving ultimately leads to greater fulfillment and success. Whether it's through volunteering, donating, or simply lending a helping hand, incorporating acts of service into our daily lives can lead to long-term happiness and meaning.

    • A Balance of Self-Care and ServiceThe monastic lifestyle offers a unique balance of personal growth and serving others, fostering deep self-love and connection to community.

The monastic lifestyle, as described, offers a unique balance between self-care and service to others. The day begins with early morning meditation and prayer, followed by a class on spiritual texts. The morning hours are dedicated to personal growth, while the afternoon and evening are spent serving the community. This routine fosters a deep sense of self-love and connection to others, which the speaker found transformative. However, living communally presents challenges, requiring constant reflection and ego management. Despite these challenges, the speaker found the experience to be invaluable and cherishes the memories of his time in the ashram. However, the speaker also noted the potential for negative aspects to emerge in such communities, such as the institutionalization of the guru and the resulting pecking order of spiritual hierarchy. The speaker emphasized the importance of the teachers' efforts to prevent this culture from taking hold. Overall, the speaker's experience highlights the importance of self-care and service to others, as well as the potential challenges and benefits of communal living.

    • True leaders prioritize humility and respect for allTrue leaders foster unity and equality, encouraging an infinite mindset where everyone can find happiness and success together

True leaders, like the senior teacher described, prioritize humility and respect for all, rather than creating a hierarchy or seeking idolization. This was evident in the teacher's consistent practice of paying respects to those who showed him respect, regardless of age or position. Additionally, the teacher did not favor any one disciple above others, encouraging a culture of unity and equality. The speaker learned that there are two ways to be close to such a leader: by pushing others away or by bringing them closer. The former approach creates a zero-sum game mentality, where success comes at the expense of others, while the latter embraces the abundance of the universe and recognizes that everyone can find happiness and success together. This perspective, as shared in the book "Think Like a Monk," encourages an infinite mindset, where there are infinite seats in the theater of happiness for everyone.

    • Claim your unique seat in the theater of lifeReflect on passions, expertise, and strengths to find joy in learning and growth. Embrace infinite possibilities and trust yourself to find your unique seat in the theater of life.

Each of us has a unique seat in the theater of life, and it's up to us to claim it. This means trusting ourselves and our abilities, even when we may feel like we're in competition with others. By reflecting on our passions and expertise, we can begin to identify where we fit in and how we can contribute. It's important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to happiness, and it's not always about finding our "passion" in the traditional sense. Instead, it's about exploring our interests and finding joy in learning and growth. Additionally, it's crucial to strike a balance between reflection and action. By taking time to reflect on our strengths and weaknesses, we can better understand ourselves and make informed decisions about how to move forward. Overall, the key is to embrace the infinite possibilities of the theater of life and trust ourselves to find our own unique seat within it.

    • Identifying patterns in experiences to make the best decisions and pursue passionsReflect on favorite cuisines, decisions, and passions to discover common themes and environments. Try new activities for a month to discover potential interests and passions. Expertise can be fulfilling with purpose. Self-awareness and reflection are essential for making the most of experiences and finding fulfillment.

Our favorite cuisines, best decisions, and passions in life often follow a pattern. By reflecting on these experiences, we can identify common themes and environments that guide us towards making the best decisions and pursuing our passions. The speaker suggests taking action by trying out new activities for a month to discover potential interests and passions. It's important to remember that lack of expertise doesn't equate to a lack of passion, and starting something new can provide opportunities for growth. Additionally, expertise can be meaningful and fulfilling when we add purpose to it. Overall, self-awareness and reflection are key to making the most of our experiences and finding fulfillment in our lives.

    • Exploring self-awareness and intuitionSelf-inquiry is a powerful tool for building intuition and self-awareness, allowing us to make decisions that align with our authentic selves.

Developing self-awareness and trusting our instincts are crucial for making good decisions and leading a fulfilling life. The speaker emphasizes that intuition is a muscle that can be built through self-inquiry, asking simple questions about our experiences and preferences. He also stresses the importance of turning our questions inward instead of demanding answers from others or the universe. The practice of self-inquiry is the foundation of an examined life, allowing us to better understand ourselves and the patterns that guide our choices. By focusing on our own responses to experiences, we can gain greater clarity and make decisions that align with our authentic selves.

    • Finding one's true calling may involve stepping out of comfort zonesStay true to oneself, trusting that experiences and tools gained can be applied in unexpected yet meaningful ways

Personal growth and self-discovery sometimes require stepping out of comfort zones, but the path to finding one's true calling may not always be linear. The speaker in this conversation shares his experience of pursuing a monastic lifestyle, only to realize that his passion and purpose lay in sharing wisdom and serving people in a different way. However, the transition was not easy, as he faced challenges in re-entering the mainstream world and doubted the applicability of his learnings. Despite initial struggles, he eventually found success and came to understand that the skills and wisdom he gained were indeed transferable and valuable in navigating the complexities of modern life. This story highlights the importance of staying true to oneself, even when faced with adversity and external criticism, and trusting that the experiences and tools gained along the way can be applied in unexpected yet meaningful ways.

    • Staying true to oneself for personal growth and successValuing and protecting your strengths, passions, and skills is essential for growth and success. Stay committed to your purpose and reintegrate into the world with like-minded individuals.

Protecting your strengths, passions, and skills is crucial for personal growth and success. The speaker shares her experience of feeling lost and uncertain after leaving a monastic community, but realizing that the skills she gained during her monk years were valuable and transferable. She emphasizes the importance of holding onto one's purpose and not letting external pressures convince you to abandon it. The speaker also highlights the importance of reintegrating into the world and finding like-minded individuals who share similar values and goals. Ultimately, she found success in her career by applying the skills she learned during her monk years and staying true to herself. The speaker's story illustrates the power of resilience and the importance of staying committed to one's purpose, even in the face of adversity.

    • Embrace every experience for growth and learningUse every situation for personal growth and a higher purpose, even in mundane or unsatisfying circumstances

Even in seemingly mundane or unsatisfying situations, there is always an opportunity to learn and grow. The speaker's experience of winning a competition and being coached by a mentor led him to discover the world of social media and eventually create a role at Accenture. This experience taught him the importance of a growth mindset, constantly pushing for more, and using every experience for a higher purpose. Detachment, as the speaker explains, does not mean indifference or disconnection, but rather using everything for a greater purpose. This principle, known as Yukta Vairagya, can be applied in everyday life, encouraging us to not be consumed by our experiences, but to use them for something more meaningful. So, whether you're feeling dissatisfied with your current job or situation, consider the potential for growth and learning that may be hidden within it.

    • Focus on the process, not the outcomeAcknowledge impure motives, focus on self-awareness and growth to improve and act with purer intentions, leading to greater enrichment and fulfillment.

Being attached to the outcome of our actions, such as writing a book or creating a podcast, can hinder our ability to perform at our best. Instead, we should focus on being fully committed to the process itself, without worrying about the final result. This doesn't mean ignoring the potential benefits or profits, but rather acknowledging and dealing with any impure motives in a honest and self-aware manner. The Bhagavad Gita teaches that our intentions are a mix of pure and impure, and the process of purification involves recognizing and addressing our impure intentions through self-awareness and growth. Ultimately, by focusing on the process and being present, we can improve and move closer to acting with a purer motive, which can lead to greater enrichment and fulfillment.

    • The depth of meditation matters, not the quantityPrioritize deep meditation practice, find a spiritual community, get enough sleep, and seek out mentors for personal growth.

Maintaining a consistent meditation practice and prioritizing self-care are essential for personal growth, but facing various challenges in modern life can make it difficult to stick to these habits. The depth and quality of meditation, rather than the quantity, is what truly matters. Additionally, finding a spiritual community and seeking out mentors can provide valuable insights and help deepen one's practice. Sleep plays a crucial role in overall well-being, and getting enough rest is essential for optimal mental and physical performance. Ultimately, being exposed to new experiences and perspectives can broaden our horizons and help us realize the importance of practices like meditation and self-care.

    • Mastering reengagement is key to successDisengage from distractions, learn to use technology effectively, consume social media with intention, set boundaries, and reengage to win the battle against distractions.

Disengaging from distractions, such as social media, is not the final step, but rather the beginning of effectively reengaging. Meditation practices, like Vipassana, provide clarity and perspective, but in today's world, learning how to use technology effectively is crucial. Consuming social media with intention, as a tool for creation rather than mindless scrolling, and setting boundaries, such as no-technology zones and times, can help us reengage more effectively and win the battle against distractions. Remember, disengagement is the first step, but mastering reengagement is the key to success.

    • Creating a daily routine and setting boundariesWaking up early, meditating, and engaging in solitude activities can improve your life. Set boundaries, like not checking your phone first thing in the morning, and identify your element for greater fulfillment and productivity.

Creating rules for yourself and prioritizing your time and environment can significantly improve your life. The speaker shares his personal routine of waking up early, meditating, and engaging in solitude activities before starting his workday. He emphasizes the importance of setting boundaries, such as not checking your phone first thing in the morning or not scheduling anything before a certain time. Additionally, identifying your element, or what you're passionate about and perform best in, and creating an environment that supports that, can lead to greater fulfillment and productivity. The speaker's personal experience of returning from an ashram and having to re-learn how to use technology is a reminder that disconnecting and setting boundaries can be challenging but ultimately worth it. By making small changes and prioritizing your personal needs, you can expand your sense of time and live a more intentional and fulfilling life.

    • Identifying your ideal energy and environment for workUnderstanding your energy and environment preferences can lead to increased focus, productivity, and overall well-being. Ask yourself what type of energy and environment you thrive in, and make intentional adjustments to create a work setup that aligns with your needs.

Creating a productive and energizing work environment is crucial for personal growth and success. This can be achieved by identifying the specific energy and environment that suits us best, and intentionally crafting our surroundings to align with that. Whether it's through small adjustments like playing the right music or finding a quiet space, or larger changes like seeking out supportive partnerships, self-awareness and introspection are key. By asking ourselves questions like "what is my favorite energy?" and "what environment do I thrive in?" we can better understand our needs and create a work environment that allows us to flourish. Ultimately, taking the time to invest in our energy and environment can lead to increased focus, productivity, and overall well-being.

    • Respecting individual differences in relationshipsEffective communication, trust, and shared values are essential for navigating conflicts and building a strong bond. Recognizing and respecting each other's differences can lead to a successful and long-lasting partnership.

Understanding and respecting each other's unique needs and values is crucial for a healthy and fulfilling relationship. Instead of focusing on superficial similarities, it's essential to recognize and support each other's individual ways of thriving. Communication, trust, and shared values are the foundation for navigating conflicts and building a strong bond. As the speaker shared in their personal experience, recognizing and respecting each other's differences can lead to a successful and long-lasting partnership, even if it may seem unconventional to some.

    • Mastering conflict resolution in relationshipsUnderstanding and respecting each other's natural responses during disagreements can prevent misunderstandings and promote healthy communication.

Effective communication and understanding in relationships go beyond romantic gestures and hinges on learning each other's unique "fight languages." John Gottman's research emphasizes the importance of mastering conflict resolution as the key to long-lasting relationships. Understanding and respecting each other's natural responses during disagreements can prevent misunderstandings and promote healthy communication. The upcoming book discussed in the podcast is a practical toolkit that offers strategies, stories, and reflection questions to help individuals navigate conflicts and deepen their relationships. The podcast itself, which has been a source of inspiration for many, is a testament to the power of long-form conversations in bridging gaps and raising the collective consciousness.

Ozempic: Weight Loss Miracle Drug or Something Darker? Johann Hari on The Benefits & Risks
This week, I’m joined by Johann Hari, New York Times bestselling author, journalist, and speaker, to explore his journey into the world of the new weight loss drug phenomenon: Ozempic. Johann shares his surprising firsthand experience injecting himself weekly with the drug for over a year, leading to dramatic weight loss but also complex side effects. We discuss the staggering potential of these “magic pills” to curb the global obesity epidemic, but also the alarming risks like thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, and muscle wasting. Johann provides a nuanced look at the bigger picture—examining the role of pharmaceutical profit, societal pressures around body image, and whether medicalizing thinness addresses root causes. His investigation stretches from the science labs of Iceland to the food culture of Japan. This discussion ultimately confronts sobering philosophical questions about the ethics of pharmaceutical shortcuts versus growth through struggle. Please enjoy! 030: Russ Rausch — Mental Performance Trainer - Making the Present Primary, Connecting to internal Purpose, and Improving Life Experience through Vision Pursue

030: Russ Rausch — Mental Performance Trainer - Making the Present Primary, Connecting to internal Purpose, and Improving Life Experience through Vision Pursue
Russ is one of six children born and raised in rural Kansas. He was the first in his family to go to college. He graduated with honors in accounting and went to work for one of the big accounting firms. He married 3 years out of school. He was then self-employed for several years.
Russ moved to Chicago and joined the trading software firm, Trading Technologies in 1998. He was part of the executive team that took them from a 20-person startup to a successful 650-person global company. He served TT as CFO, CIO, Head of Global Support and EVP of Global Buyside Sales. Despite the success that TT enjoyed and having a great family of six, he found myself increasingly dissatisfied with work and life. He often found himself wondering “what’s the point of doing all of this work if it doesn’t feel any better that this?”
In 2011 Russ became the Chief Operating Officer of the hedge fund Emil van Essen thinking a new and more prestigious job would make him feel better. However, it only made me feel worse. In 2012 he read a book that made him believe that his dissatisfaction was the result of an internal and not an external problem. In other words it was based on how his mind was working or experiencing the external world. This was the initial spark for Russ's company Vision Pursue, or VP.
After years of studying and applying areas of neuroscience and psychology, Russ changed the way he was experiencing the world. He then started working on a process to help others make this transformation.  This evolved into an in-person training and app that is VP. Three other partners have joined Russ and together they’ve built VP. The VP team has been doing it full-time for the last 3 years and has a good client base of companies and sports teams. Vision Pursue has recently started working on its consumer program through their app.

    Listen as we talk about:
    • What he thought happiness was and how that’s different now
    • How a book shifted his sense of purpose to be internal
    • Why we experience displeasure or escape 80% of our day and why Russ can change that
    • Why the passive approach to progress makes the opposite happen
    • The value in enjoying the journey
    • Why professional athletes are just like you and me
    • Why results are more likely to come with purpose
    • Why any transformation must start with experience
    • Scientific explanations that will make you think about your feelings differently
    • How to influence your systems of the mind to alter your patterns
    • What is SEE and how it makes us more aware
    • Why we must get our expectations in line with the way the world is

029: Marco Gonzalez - Bringing Consciousness of Genocides in Broad Daylight so the Next Generation Can Become Positive and Optimistic Actors for Change

029: Marco Gonzalez - Bringing Consciousness of Genocides in Broad Daylight so the Next Generation Can Become Positive and Optimistic Actors for Change
Marco Gonzalez, is the director of Yahad-In Unum (“Together In One”), is a Paris-based non-profit organization dedicated to discovering genocidal practices wherever they are found around the world, providing documented proof of crimes against humanity, and a leading voice of protest on behalf of all past and present victims of mass murder.

In accord with its original mission, Yahad – In Unum unveiled the lost history of World War II, the so-called “Holocaust by Bullets” in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Yahad – In Unum pioneered a proprietary application of modern forensic research to uncover the killings of more than 2.5 million Jews and Roma and the location of more than 2,300 mass murder sites, while interviewing more than 5,700 witness testimonies on the war crimes of the Nazi Death Squads. They are in a race against time because realistically, no more than 3 years remain to capture the eyewitness accounts of living witnesses and locate the remaining mass killing sites before all living testimony is silenced forever.

Marco’s work with YIU also has a deep personal resonance.  Growing up in Guatemala, he was keenly aware of the abysmal human rights record in that region, especially the systematic mass killings perpetrated by the military dictatorships of an estimated 200,000 ethnic Mayans, mostly during the early 1980s. Marco's work with the organization is now allowing him to raise awareness of the Holocaust to the Guatemalan population and also the possible parallel to what his home country has experienced in the last 30 years.

He helped found the first and only museum of the Holocaust in Central America. The Museum trains hundreds of educators each year in a state-supported curriculum that examines the “Holocaust by Bullets” with more than 50,000 students having visited the Museum so far.  In 2017, the Museum was nominated by The Leading
Cultural Destination (LCD) Awards for “Best New Museum of the Year – South/Central America”

In November of 2017, Marco was instrumental in launching Yahad-In Unum’s "Holocaust by Bullets"- Enhanced Teacher Training seminar to over 50 current and future educators in Denver Colorado. The program is designed to equip educators with the tools and resources to teach the recently discovered history of WWII. In 2018, the program was customized for museum professionals during a weeklong program for over 130 museum guides and staff members of the Auschwitz Museum in Poland.  Marco is currently looking to expand the program across the US.
