    • Minnesota DisruptionsMinnesota faces significant disruptions across sectors including transportation, healthcare, and government services due to a global technology issue and political calls for leadership change.

There are significant disruptions affecting various sectors in Minnesota. Democratic Congresswoman Betty McCollum called for President Joe Biden to step down and be replaced by Vice President Kamala Harris, with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. This follows similar calls from other Minnesota Democrats. Several state agencies experienced internet outages due to a global technology issue, causing over 200 flight cancellations at MSP International Airport and limited access to websites for departments of public safety, education, higher education, revenue, state patrol, and others. Rainbow Health, a Twin Cities HIV and LGBTQ Plus Health Center, suddenly closed due to financial challenges, leaving 80 workers and their clients uncertain about their future. The state is working on restoring services, and Rainbow Health is collaborating with other organizations to ensure patients receive alternative care.

    • TPS for Somalis, LGBTQ+ sports eventViolence in Somalia leads to TPS extension for 4,300 new applications and continuation for 600 current beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the LGBTQ+ community gathers for a sports tournament and summit in Minneapolis, aiming to provide a safe space for queer folks to connect and find community.

Violence and instability in Somalia have led to the extension and redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for thousands of Somalis living in the United States. This means approximately 4,300 new applications can be filed, and around 600 current beneficiaries can continue their TPS through March 2027. Meanwhile, in a different context, the LGBTQ+ community is coming together for a sports tournament and summit in Minneapolis, with over 2,500 participants expected. The event aims to provide a space for queer folks to connect, play sports, and find community. Elsewhere in sports news, the WNBA All-Star game is happening tomorrow, featuring Lynx's Kayla McBride and Lynx alum Nafisa Collier, who will face each other. Additionally, the Twins begin the second half of their baseball season this weekend, and former Twins catcher Joe Mauer is being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Lastly, the Vikings start summer training camp on Sunday.

The following day, there's a chance of more showers and storms, but it will be warmer with highs in the 70s to mid 80s.
