    The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office Tuesday charged 56-year-old Steven Frane Bailey with criminal vehicular homicide and other charges, following a fatal crash Sunday evening at a St. Louis Park restaurant. And Minnesota officials say wildfire smoke will be in the unhealthy range for sensitive groups in northwestern Minnesota this week.

    Traffic crash hurts reporters in Walz motorcade. Concern grows over measles spread in Minnesota

    Reporters travelling in Wisconsin Monday with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz were injured in a traffic crash.  Walz, who was heading to a campaign stop in Milwaukee, was not hurt.


    Two people were killed and several people were injured when a man drove a vehicle into the patio at the Park Tavern in St. Louis Park on Sunday.


    And Minnesota health officials are concerned about more people becoming infected with measles.

    The National Weather Service Twin Cities office says it has confirmed at least one tornado touchdown from yesterday’s storms.

    Storm-weary Minnesotans will get a respite from any wild weather today, but there will be another chance for strong storms across much of the state tomorrow afternoon and evening.


    And utility crews are back out today across the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, as 25,000 Minnesotans remain without power in the wake of storms earlier this week.

    It’s been a day of cleaning up on the grounds of the Minnesota State Fair, after not one but two rounds of severe storms pummeled the Twin Cities.


    The fair gates usually open at 7:00 each morning, but fair officials delayed today’s opening until 9 a.m. to give time to assess and clean up damage from this morning’s severe storms.

    Harris accepts nomination at DNC. Xcel Energy drops requirement on controversial pricing proposal

    The Democratic National Convention is over and party leaders say the focus now turns to getting the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz ticket across the finish line in November. Harris called on Americans to join her to “chart a new way forward” as she accepted the Democratic nomination on Thursday.


    Xcel Energy is modifying its controversial proposal to charge customers more for electricity used during peak times of the day. The initial proposal would have charged roughly seven times more for using electricity during summer peak hours than off-peak periods.

    First day of the Minnesota State Fair. Court declines to review 2040 Plan

    Gates at the Minnesota State Fair open Thursday in Falcon Heights. Hundreds of thousands of people will stream through those gates over the next 12 days.


    The Minnesota Supreme Court has decided not to review the environmental lawsuit against Minneapolis’ 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The plan increases housing density in the city and ends single-family zoning. The lawsuit filed by two citizen groups alleges that city leaders failed to do the required environmental review.
