3M will be required to remove forever chemicals from the water it discharges from its Cottage Grove plant. And former President Donald Trump is campaigning in western Wisconsin Thursday evening.
Storm-weary Minnesotans will get a respite from any wild weather today, but there will be another chance for strong storms across much of the state tomorrow afternoon and evening.
And utility crews are back out today across the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, as 25,000 Minnesotans remain without power in the wake of storms earlier this week.

The Blue Earth County Board has voted to remove the Rapidan Dam and to replace a nearby bridge. State Sen. Mitchell is entering a plea of not guilty in a felony burglary case. And Minnesota Sen. Klobuchar talks about her reelection prospects.
It’s been a day of cleaning up on the grounds of the Minnesota State Fair, after not one but two rounds of severe storms pummeled the Twin Cities.
The fair gates usually open at 7:00 each morning, but fair officials delayed today’s opening until 9 a.m. to give time to assess and clean up damage from this morning’s severe storms.

Severe storms Monday night downed trees, dropped torrential rain and knocked out power to more than 100,000 homes and businesses across Minnesota. And the St. Paul Police Department renames a building after an officer killed 30 years ago.

Cooling centers in the Twin Cities metro are open to the public amid dangerously hot weather Monday. And Minneapolis police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl on Saturday.
The estranged wife of Department of Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell, Julie Myhre-Schnell is accused of giving their adult disabled son a high dose of anti-anxiety medication. Also, state officials continue to investigate two mysterious sheens on the Mississippi River northwest of downtown Minneapolis.

The Democratic National Convention is over and party leaders say the focus now turns to getting the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz ticket across the finish line in November. Harris called on Americans to join her to “chart a new way forward” as she accepted the Democratic nomination on Thursday.
Xcel Energy is modifying its controversial proposal to charge customers more for electricity used during peak times of the day. The initial proposal would have charged roughly seven times more for using electricity during summer peak hours than off-peak periods.

Gates at the Minnesota State Fair open Thursday in Falcon Heights. Hundreds of thousands of people will stream through those gates over the next 12 days.
The Minnesota Supreme Court has decided not to review the environmental lawsuit against Minneapolis’ 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The plan increases housing density in the city and ends single-family zoning. The lawsuit filed by two citizen groups alleges that city leaders failed to do the required environmental review.

Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan is set deliver the first of the welcoming remarks to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as Gov. Tim Walz prepares to accept the party’s nomination for vice president. Flanagan is one of the co-chairs of the convention. And, Minnesota remembers George Latimer, who served as mayor of St. Paul from the late 70s to 1990. Latimer was 89.

And Hennepin County Commissioners are planning to take a vote Tuesday on a more modest pay increase after public criticism of its previously proposed 49 percent pay bump. Commissioners are now proposing to increase their own salaries by five percent for each of the next two years.
