    Podcast Summary

    • Embracing the present in advertisingAdapt to the changing landscape by focusing on the present, understanding cultural nuances, and adding value beyond daily tasks as AI takes over.

The advertising industry is undergoing significant changes due to the advancement of AI and the shifting attention of customers. According to Gary Vaynerchuk, 90% of conversations in advertising land revolve around the past or future, while neglecting the present. He emphasizes the importance of adapting to these changes and focusing on today, as the world is on the brink of experiencing a million things changing, including the death of traditional television. AI is expected to take away many daily tasks, but it won't take jobs if individuals are willing to adjust and add more value. Brands, especially large ones, are struggling to keep up with the changing landscape and the fact that customers' attention is shifting away from traditional marketing methods. Pack, which stands for platforms and culture, is crucial for effective marketing as understanding different cultural nuances is essential. Overall, the conversation highlights the need for the industry to adapt and focus on the present while embracing the opportunities that come with the changing landscape.

    • Understanding Platform and Culture for Effective TikTok MarketingSuccessfully marketing on TikTok requires adapting to the unique features and cultural context of the platform and audience, staying attuned to current trends, and focusing on the present opportunities.

To effectively market on TikTok, understanding both the platform's unique features and the cultural context of the target audience is essential. The foundation of creating strategic organic content (SOC) is the concept of PAC - platform and culture. The algorithm, creators, and trends of each market vary greatly, and ignoring these differences can hinder success. Furthermore, focusing too much on the past or future can distract from addressing the present, where the majority of opportunities lie. As technology continues to evolve, it's crucial to adapt and stay attuned to the current market trends while maintaining a deep understanding of the underlying platform and culture.

    • The value of human creativity cannot be replacedFocus on marketing goals and creating valuable content, as tools like social media and television are just that - tools. Human creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability are essential in the face of technological advancements.

No matter what technological advancements come our way, the value of human creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability cannot be replaced. The speaker emphasizes that industries and distribution channels, such as social media or television, are merely tools, and the focus should be on achieving marketing goals and creating meaningful content. While there may be shifts and changes in the landscape, such as the potential ban of TikTok or the disappearance of social networks, the attention and demand for valuable content will always persist. Copywriters should not be overly concerned about AI writing or automation, as long as they continue to think critically and generate original ideas. The fear and hype surrounding technological advancements can often be exaggerated, and it's essential to maintain a perspective that values common sense and the human capacity for creativity and innovation.

The Most Important Question In Business

The Most Important Question In Business

Here’s the problem most people run into when they create content online: They think they have to have something to say. So many of you aren’t putting out content online because you think you need to have the perfect message, or something “valuable” to share (based on your own arbitrary opinion). And what I’m telling you is, you will get more business if you put out literally anything. If you’re an auto dealer, you could put out a 5 min video every afternoon just recapping what happened in your day. If you’re a real estate agent, you could post updates on what your opinions are about the Super Bowl teams. Get on social media and tell your truth … it’s really that simple.

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

There are so many people racing to earn more money than they can even spend even if they have to sacrifice their happiness and livelihood to do so. The really disturbing part about this is that most of these people only want the money so they can be flashy and show off their overly expensive cars (that they don't even want) and other dumb things to other people. Happiness needs to be the Northstar that we strive towards. If we aren't aiming to be happy, then is it really worth having more money than you can spend and more cars than you can drive? —

    Rick Steves' Europe: Rick Steves

    Rick Steves' Europe: Rick Steves
Rick Steves spent the summer after high school backpacking through Europe on two dollars a day—sleeping on the floor, sneaking into museums, and subsisting on a diet of bread and jam. When he came home, he found people were hungry for tips on how to visit Europe on the cheap, so he began teaching classes, and was soon hawking a self-published guidebook out of his car. Eventually, he started leading minibus tours and hosting a travel show on Public TV, steadily growing his business even though he was giving away most of his content. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, his no-frills approach to travel has persisted as a powerful brand, with 70 guidebooks, an ever-popular travel show, and—in 2019—an annual revenue of $100 million.

FIELD TRIP: I Go France and Learn Weird French Stuff

FIELD TRIP: I Go France and Learn Weird French Stuff

Consider this an audio postcard from my first vacation in 13 years. I travel a lot for my other job (as a science correspondent on Innovation Nation for CBS) so I am out of practice on jet-setting for the sake of pure fun. But Jarrett’s family was headed to France so we cashed in some points and tagged along. Join me for some weird stuff I googled on the road, from pastry wars to royal cosplay, wax death masks, angry mobs, filming locations, things you can’t collect in a park and eat, how to get along with French waiters, what to do if a loved one starts sobbing in public, one of the best ways to see Paris, cider that tastes like flowers, a theme park with a hidden agenda, and the fall fashion trends that were confusingly ubiquitous. Also, how to wash socks in the sink. Let’s go to France.
