Miriam Margolyes, an 82-year-old actress, leads an extraordinary and independent life, which she has chronicled in her book. She has been in a long-term relationship for over 50 years with her partner, whom she has never lived with. This unique arrangement might be the secret to their happy relationship. Margolyes is known for her humor and her commitment to self-improvement. She has had an impressive acting career, with roles in films like "Romeo and Juliet." Despite the detailed accounts of her childhood in her book, readers will not find explicit content. Instead, they will be drawn into her fascinating life story. Margolyes's candidness about her past experiences, including her adolescent sex life, adds to her allure. While she has joked about various sexual topics, she has not written an autobiography. Her fascination with herself and her exploration of her desires, including her interest in dildos, are a testament to her unapologetic and curious nature.

    • Multitasking and Distractions while Shopping for Adult ToysDespite distractions, the speaker successfully completed their shopping for adult toys and learned to appreciate the importance of focus and concentration.

The speaker found it challenging to multitask while watching an explicit scene in a TV show and shopping for adult toys at the same time. They admired the woman's performance in the show but found it difficult to concentrate due to the sensitive nature of their errand. The speaker also shared an embarrassing story about forgetting past partners' body parts and joked about their experience in a sex shop. Despite the distractions, they managed to complete their shopping and received custom outfits for an upcoming event. The conversation then shifted to the topic of memory and forgetting past experiences.

    • Misunderstanding of Male Anatomy and Its ImpactOur limited knowledge and experiences can influence our perception of human anatomy. It's important to be open to learning and recognizing the diversity that exists among individuals.

Our understanding and perception of human anatomy can be influenced by our experiences and lack of knowledge. The speaker shared her confusion about the appearance of the male genitalia, particularly the testicles, due to her limited exposure and misunderstanding of their function and location. She also shared her experience of encountering differences in male anatomy and how it impacted her perspective. The conversation also touched upon the topic of circumcision and personal preferences. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of education and openness to learning about human anatomy and the diversity that exists among individuals. It's important to remember that everyone's body is unique and there is no one "normal" or "ideal" appearance.

    • Personal experiences shaping sexual valuesSpeaker values emotional connections and selectivity in partners, apprehensive about painful birth control procedures, and prefers deep emotional connections before sexual activity, emphasizing open communication and consent.

The speaker's past experiences and feelings towards sex influenced her perspective, leading her to value emotional connections and be selective about her partners. She also shared her upcoming decision to get a copper coil for birth control, expressing apprehension about the process due to potential pain and lack of pain relief during insertion. The speaker also mentioned her discomfort with casual sex and one-night stands, preferring to have a deeper emotional connection before engaging in sexual activity. Additionally, she expressed a desire for open communication and consent in sexual encounters.

    • Women's Experiences with Hormonal Contraception and End-of-Life PlanningWomen's experiences with hormonal contraception can lead to significant side effects or trauma. Some opt for permanent methods, but they come with risks. End-of-life planning is also important and should be considered.

Women's experiences with hormonal contraception can vary greatly, and some may encounter significant side effects or trauma. One friend of the speakers had a severe reaction to the implant, leading to prolonged bleeding. Another friend went "crazy" on Yaz. The speaker herself had a negative experience with the injection, which caused her to break out for six months. Some women opt for permanent contraception methods like getting their tubes snipped, but there's a risk it may not work. Men can also get a vasectomy, but the success rate is even lower. The discussion also touched on a woman who was found alive inside her coffin after a funeral, emphasizing the importance of considering an open casket if that's not desired. The speakers joked about the podcast seemingly narrating Amber's life, but the conversation ultimately highlighted the varying challenges women face when it comes to contraception and end-of-life planning.

    • The Deceiving Nature of Death and FuneralsAppearances can deceive in death, respect and dignity are crucial during funerals, and it's important to appreciate the present moment

Appearances can be deceiving, especially when it comes to death and funerals. Amber's experience of attending the wrong funeral serves as a reminder of this. People look very different in death, and it's important to ensure that we are visiting the right person. Additionally, we discussed how obsessed we are with death and shared some humorous stories. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when we talked about a food worker who spiked sauces and hummus with cock rings and other objects. While it's important to approach the topic of death with a sense of humor, it's crucial to remember that respect and dignity should always be shown during funerals. Overall, the conversation was a reminder to appreciate the present moment and to be mindful of the impact of our actions.

    • Misunderstandings and Revenge Lead to Unexpected InteractionsUnexpected incidents and interactions can result in amusing situations or acts of kindness.

A man was found contaminating non-fish dressings with fish sauce and chili chili sauce, as well as his own bodily fluids, as a form of low-level revenge. This incident led to confusion over a misunderstood term for a non-alcoholic drink, resulting in an amusing interaction. During a shopping trip, they encountered a unique denim jacket covered in diamantes, and later, the man was found not to be involved in a suspected incident. Another story shared was about a woman who lost her rings at work, but a kind bus driver returned them to her. Despite the various events, the main takeaway is that sometimes, unexpected incidents and interactions can lead to amusing situations or acts of kindness.

    • The power of kindness in finding what's lostA kind hotel porter's efforts to help a speaker find her lost ring showed the speaker the importance of kindness and respecting others.

Sometimes, the things we value most can be unexpectedly lost, but it's the people who go the extra mile to help us find them that make all the difference. The speaker lost a sentimental ring and was devastated, but a kind hotel porter went out of his way to help her find it. The experience reminded the speaker of the power of kindness and the importance of respecting others, regardless of their age. Elsewhere in the conversation, the speaker shared her enjoyment of the West Side Story production, which explores themes of love and conflict between different communities. She praised the cast's performances and the venue's beauty, but warned that the production contains a lot of clicking sounds which might be off-putting for some. The speaker also discussed her recent photoshoot for her new collection, and shared her amusement at the reactions of others when they saw her applying makeup on the train. Overall, the conversation touched on themes of loss, kindness, and the importance of respecting others.

    • Societal norms and personal preferencesSocietal norms can impact our views on actions and relationships, but personal preferences ultimately shape our choices. The speaker shares her experiences with doing makeup on public transportation and age gaps in relationships, and discusses the media's role in shaping perceptions of celebrity relationships.

Societal norms and perceptions can significantly influence how we view certain actions or relationships. The speaker shares her experience of doing makeup on public transportation, acknowledging the potential rudeness but justifying it as a time-saving measure. She also discusses the age gap in relationships, expressing her belief that it becomes less significant as people grow older. The speaker then shifts the conversation to the topic of celebrity relationships and the spread of wild rumors in the media. She also shares her personal preference for partners based on personality rather than looks. The conversation ends with a light-hearted discussion about a website that analyzes faces to determine which "shalab" one is most suited to, leading to some playful banter between the speakers. Overall, the conversation highlights the complexities and nuances of societal norms and personal preferences.

    • The importance of authenticity in appearance and identityAuthenticity in appearance and identity is crucial. Don't judge others based on looks, and prioritize self-care to present your true self.

Appearance and identity are complex and deeply personal aspects of an individual. The speaker in the text emphasizes the importance of making an effort to present oneself in a way that aligns with one's true self, despite external pressures or expectations. The use of the example of Milo, who may have been judged based on his appearance, underscores the importance of not making assumptions about others based on their outward appearance. The speaker also mentions their own efforts to present themselves in a certain way, despite challenges and obstacles. The text also touches on the idea of seeking help and support from therapists or other resources when needed. Overall, the takeaway is that identity is a multifaceted concept, and it's essential to prioritize authenticity and self-care in how we present ourselves to the world.
