    Beyond the confines podcast

The shows name is based on people that are following their passions doing jobs they love or living in far out places. I’d also like to extend this theme to people who are disabled and have learned to deal with their situation or prisoners who have become free, or someone who has had a difficult struggle like an immigrant that has made it to the other side. presented in a humorous way.

    18. Cam Cole

    18. Cam Cole
Over 7 million people have watched in awe as they saw Cam's viral video on Facebook of him busking on the streets of London.
Hailed as “the most impressive one-man band you will ever see” by Unilad when they showcased him to their 44 million followers, Cam Cole is a singer, songwriter, busker and new age traveller from London, UK who roams around performing on streets and venues as his one man band show influenced by Folk, Delta Blues, Grunge and Rock N' Roll.
His long-awaited debut album was released on the 1st of November 2019. It contains 10 tracks taken directly from his busking set. The reactions from his long-time followers have been ecstatic, especially as Cam and his team made the bold decisions to record all tracks live in one take to capture the magic Cam creates on the streets. The result is a raw, real record that stands out in a market place of increasingly watered-down rock music, made by an artist who will not compromise on his ethics and message.

    13. The Best Italian City to Live or Study in: Reggio Emilia

    13. The Best Italian City to Live or Study in: Reggio Emilia
I interviewed Daniela Vezzani in this episode who founded Reggio Lingua in 2004. I wanted to do an episode about the city where I live (Reggio Emilia) because I really like it, so Daniela tells what you can do if you want to come here and learn Italian. There are many opportunities to experience the culture by staying with a host family or doing cooking courses.

Reggio Emilia offers many things to do including outdoor activities like mountain biking, climbing, hiking and then they are world famous for their food like Parmigiano Reggiano or Balsamic vinegar. It's not as well know as the other cities nearby like Parma Modena or Bologna but believe me, it's a gem!

If you're interested in studying with ReggioLingua here's their link: https://www.reggiolingua.it/

    11. An American AuPair in Germany

    11. An American AuPair in Germany
This is a great episode for people that want to come to Europe (specifically Germany). I learned from talking with Hannah that Working as an au pair is an option that allows people from the US to work for one year in Germany and there is a special visa for this as well.
She also talks about another aspect that I imagine very few people know about - that it is possible to do a Master’s for free in Germany, so many people go there and work as an au pair for a year and then go on to get a Masters.

I read however that if someone wants to come to Italy as an au pair from outside the EU they need to be a student and have to be enrolled in a course that is a minimum of 20 hours per week, so it seems to be more difficult for those who want to come here.

    8. Cannabis Formulation Chemist
This person who decided to remain anonymous creates products made out of cannabis. Some products are made only with terpenes, organic molecules from the plant that create the scents or flavours, so there might be a soda with the flavour of cannabis, which will not get you high, it may only have the entourage effect. Other products have CBD, which is the non psychoactive part of cannabis, which is indicated for diseases like dyslexia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress syndrome and many more. Finally there are products like edibles which contain THC which is an active ingredient which will get you high. We talk about her experience with cancer and how CBD cannabis, helps her with seizures. We also talk about the stereotypical Cannabis user and how the typical user is incorrectly portrayed. Nic and Donna Cuthbert travelled with 5 horses and one dog that decided to join them for a 2000 km across the Mongolia steppe in 2014/2015. They talked with me about their epic journey and we touched on what they had to do in order to prepare, and they also talked about how they managed to befriend the locals and were able to take part in important nomadic ceremonies, and were often given food and shelter. Donna learned the language beforehand so that she could communicate with them. They also had some problems with thieves that stole one of their horses which set them back a bit.

    2. A guitar made from Sunken Migrant Boats

    2. A guitar made from Sunken Migrant Boats
Modena City Ramblers is an Italian Band from the Modena area that started in 1991. After travelling to Ireland they were inspired by Celtic music so they began to play together as a hobby. In Ireland many of the bands consist of people that come together for the love of music. They also adopted this philosophy and the concept was that people could come and go as they pleased, so it was a sort of open musical project. Their name was inspired by the Irish band, the Dublin City Ramblers which had a similar concept.

Massimo Giacci who is the bass player is the longest standing member of the group since he started in 1992 and has been with them ever since. Francesco Fry Moneti has been with the group since 1996 and he plays the violin and mandolin. Their newest album is entitled Riaccolti and it's available on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/3xSMNI6NIjvvrmJd3nTy7J?si=JBBih1-mSayqCzwfXwRBbw, or record stores.

In this interview we talk about some of the adventures that they have had touring around the world. They have played in some incredible places and had the opportunity to meet some important people, but they have also taken part in some really positive projects like working with NGO’s and Francesco worked with OXFAM in Palestine where he had an unforgettable encounter with Arafat.

We also talk about a very special guitar that Fry had the possiblity to bring on a MCR tour. It was made entirely out of pieces of migrant boats that sank in the Mediterranean Sea near Lampedusa, Italy. We talk about the significance of the guitar and touch on a handful of people that played it. Several people have approved of this project including Carlos Santana, Avici, Patti Smith, Jovanotti, Vencio Caposella, Franz Ferdinand
