I discuss how important it is to build the skills needed to become healthier in life. People think there's a magic bullet out there.

There isn't. Health comes from better habits & better habits come from developing the proper skills to execute on the habits you need to.

It's not about what you say you're gonna do, it's not about what you think you're gonna do, it's about what you actually do each day.

Today I dive into how fucked our food system is here in the US and why you should stop taking health advice from sick people.

I talk about drinking raw milk and I'm sure that's going to send people into a tizzy but here is an article that looks at the actual numbers of illness cause by raw milk. Spoiler alert: your chances of becoming hospitalized from a bacterial illness caused by raw milk is three times less than your chance of dying in a plane crash.

The other important topic I talk about today is postural improvement, specifically addressing upper crossed syndrome.

This is your typical forward head, internally rotated shoulder position you see a lot of people walking around with. Text neck as the kids say.

Here's a playlist I put together on youtube to show what I was talking about along with some breathing tips in the playlist.

If you haven't yet, head to the review section of this podcast and leave us a rating & review if you find value in the show OR share the show with someone you know would enjoy and find value in it.

At the end of the episode I get into a story I heard on the Huberman Lab podcast about how dopamine is actually connected to motivation and how to use it. Listen to that full episode on his show to get all the deep details on how to put this into practice.

Ok, getting back on track can be a difficult process sometimes. The way forward is by building momentum. Whether that's by starting with an extremely small task or picking the big kahuna.

Once you set out to change or work towards this task you've chosen you'll immediately start to take action on that and see some progress or results which will spur you to continue.

This is what will get the ball rolling for you and then you can use that momentum to continue growing and improving.

070: Your Goals Suck & How to Set Better Ones | Outcome Vs. Behavior Goals

070: Your Goals Suck & How to Set Better Ones | Outcome Vs. Behavior Goals

What's up my Get Uncomfortable compadre!

Ok I'm joking in the title, your goals are probably kickass but they may be missing an important aspect and there's most likely room for improvement.

If you haven't yet, head to the review section of this podcast and leave us a rating & review if you find value in the show!

Now that we have that taken care of, let's talk about setting better goals.

Or an important aspect of setting better goals; getting into the details of the smaller aspects of the processes required to achieve these goals.

Big magnificent outcomes don't happen by accident, they happen on. purpose. The processes you engage in and the actions you take each day are what gets you to the end goal.

Today I take you through the what and WHY of your goals, using the 5 why's exercise to nail it. Then we break down the difference between an outcome goal vs. a behavior goal.

This is the importance of nailing the process behind your big goal and the things you can control each day in order to get closer to the outcome goal.

Finally we dive into anticipating what the trade offs are that you're going to have to make in order to achieve these things. There is always sacrifice involved and things you'll have to give up in order to go where you want to go.

Now go out, set some even more kickass goals, and crush it from here on out.

    Hello!

This is a quick Tuesday tune up all about how to stop compromising with yourself and why that's basically a super power once you realize where you're doing this at.

This is something that I have recently been examining in my own life and identifying areas I'm allowing myself to slip up.

I talk about what it means to compromise with yourself, the effect of that, what I don't mean b y stop compromising, the mindset you need to make it stop, and a protocol you can implement in your life to help build up the ability to avoid falling prey to this.

063: Tuesday Tune Up | Cultivate Equanimity by Getting Friendly with Discomfort

063: Tuesday Tune Up | Cultivate Equanimity by Getting Friendly with Discomfort

Equanimity- Evenness of mind or temper; calmness or firmness, especially under conditions adapted to excite great emotion; a state of resistance to elation, depression, anger, etc.

That's what getting uncomfortable is truly all about for me. About preparing for the unknown. It's about recognizing I can get through difficult pursuits and don't have to listen to the voice that tells me how hard that it will be.

The other part of this process is acceptance. Acceptance of what is happening, regardless of my personal desires or outcomes I'd wish to see. Accepting the good AND the bad, and remaining calm about it.

When I do this I tend to realize the amazing things that happen right in front of me.  I realize that for me, happiness isn't a destination, it's already here. So it's like this positive feedback loop that makes me want to continue to cultivate these dispositions.

I hope you enjoyed today's show, if you did share this a friend that would enjoy it.
