062: Tuesday Tune Up | How to Keep Showing Up When You Don't Want To: Moving Dirt

    Whats up friends!

Today's episode is all about showing up. Showing up for yourself when it feels like it's pointless.

Before we get into that, if you find value or entertainment in today's episode I'd be eternally grateful if you'd share the show with someone you know & leave us a rating or review on whichever platform you use to listen to the show!

I have to remind myself that it's about consistency and perseverance each day. That is whats adds up overtime. An unfortunate reality is that you are going to eventually go through a time that you don't feel like you're knocking it out of the park.

In my mind, what separates the winner from those who quit are the people who still show up on those days and MOVE SOME DIRT!

We've been using a new format for sharing clips of the show for reels on our instagram, check em out and let us know what you think!

Have a good week and go move some dirt friends

061: Steven Jaggers: Reclaim Your Nervous System, Holding Space for Healing, & Processing Trauma with Somatic Breathwork

Holy smokes this episode is a big one, I had Steven Jaggers from Somatic Breathwork on this week and he did not disappoint!

We got into his upbringing,  professional background, and how he eventually came to creating Somatic Breathwork. Steven went DEEP on how our nervous systems react to stressors and trauma as well as how we can use our breath to process and release these.

I was blown away by his genuine, caring nature and his extensive knowledge surrounding healing, creating a safe space, trauma, physiology & psychology.

This, my friends, was an amazing episode and one I would love for you to share out for me. I know there are people out there that need to discover this healing modality and will change their lives by engaging with it.

058: The Two Kinds of Pain You Can Choose Between for Success In Business, Relationships, & Health

    What's up you beautiful people?!

    Today's episode is about the two different kinds of pain in life and how you get to choose which one you live with more often but before we dive in;

Please be sure to share the show or a clip with a friend, family member, co-worker or anyone else you pass in the street to help spread the word.

We'll be eternally grateful if you take the time to leave us a rating and review on whatever platform you are listening to us on.

Pain 1. Short term pain of discipline, planning, and doing the shit you know you need to in order to improve your life

Pain 2. The long term pain of failure, confusion, disgust, and defeat.

Option 1 leads to a life you love, a body you're proud of and ultimately FREEDOM!

Option 2 leads to a road of despair and failure in the long term. FUCK THAT.

I hope this episode helps and you find some value in it.

057: Bedtime Hack for More Muscle, Anti-Aging Effect of Muscle Mass & Using Heat Stress to Gain Muscle

    What's up friends!

Everybody needs to be aware of their muscle mass and try to maintain it especially as we age!

Today's episode is all about the importance of muscle mass: it's health and anti- aging effects, how it can improve your metabolism and more.

I also dive into an interesting study showing that drinking a casein protein shake before bed led to 4 more lbs. of muscle than a control group.

Finally we delve into an article from Ben Greenfield using the sauna or heat stress in general to gain more muscle mass and improving health overall.

The T-Nation article about a bedtime protein shake

056: Tuesday Tune Up | Don't You Want To Know Your True Potential?!

    HOLA amigos!

I hope you're having a great week so far. Another chance to get closer to your goals and dreams. Even if it feels like you're not getting there it beats being 6 feet under right?!

Today I wanted to talk about a concept that really resonates with me and has actually kept me up at night in some phases of life.

Potential. What are you truly capable of? I mean truly, what can you actually do if you give 100% effort in life; in pursuit of a goal, dream, or idea?

Can you be an example for your friends, family, or even the world? I think you can but this lackadaisical attitude of accepting whatever scraps are thrown your way in life needs to stop.

You need to go after what you want and if you don't know, figure it out ASAP!

    What's up Get Uncomfortable family!

I want to say thank you for dropping in with us for this episode. I appreciate you al listening so much and am blown away everyday that people listen to our show at all!

    This episode is a doozy!

Traver Boehm from Man Uncivilized & the founder of the Uncivilized Movement, is one hell of an interesting man.

Traver is a men's coach, licensed acupuncturist, former cage fighter, former bodyguard and all around badass dude. He used pain from his life to bring forth the gifts he was meant to give to the world and he now helps men figure out how to do this for themselves.

This episode is loaded with valuable information for men struggling but also for women to gain a little more insight into what men in their life may be going through or how they think.

We also discussed a lot of fantastic teachers, books, and mentors in this episode as resources for you all to use to improve your lives so be sure to write them down and look into them!

You need to figure that out.

I also talked about an email I got this morning from Zach Even esh who was a guest on the podcast, episode number 33, and why it fired me up in a world of quick fixes and bullshit fads.

In today’s episode I wanted to change the narrative around these 30 day transformation traps where people lose a bunch of weight then immediately gain all the weight back after it’s over.

The way to do that is to change your mindset around what getting healthy means and understand it comes from doing a little better each day instead of making mad dashes to quick fixes.

I give some guidance on what doing a little better looks like in a practical application so you can put it into use right away.

Nutrition, movement, sleep, & water are the basics.

I hope this episode brings some clarity around what it actually takes to creat health in your life.

I wanted to make a point this week that while it is necessary to sometimes give yourself a break and do the self care needed to keep operating at a high level, that cannot be an excuse to let things slip and stay in your comfort zone.

We still need to be battle ready because life brings it to you, sometimes when you're the least prepared. So it's easier to just stay ready to deal with adversity.

I also dove into the 4 archetypes of the mature masculine (obviously would apply to females as well!), how they can support us in getting uncomfortable, and the shadow aspects of each.

Lastly I covered why I think we need to bring back rites of passage so we can end this epidemic of soft, coddled, man-children we have in today's society.

I hope you enjoy the episode!

This weeks episode I wanted to give out a little dose of reality in the fake world of the internet and media. It's not all sunshine and rainbows in real life as you know.

Often times we only get the best sides or moods of people when they put out content. I wasn't going to originally share about this but i figured, the show is called Get Uncomfortable for a reason and I need to share this with my Get Uncomfortable family.

I had an emotional breakdown of sorts recently but luckily, somebody is looking out for me and decided to throw some signs my way instead of letting me flounder in turmoil and chaos any longer.

In this episode talked about the events that took place I perceived as signs from above, even if they are totally random, I still found meaning in them and they are helping so that's a win!

Enjoy the episode & let me know if you've ever had any experiences like this in your life!

I had a lot of fun with his one and it's something near and dear to my heart because I have had many situations where doubt, fear, or others have stopped me from starting something.

Once you overcome that you learn the power you truly have but you have to START! Failing is part of the learning process and take it in stride.

This is your sign or your permission to start the business, learn the new skill, take that leap you've been holing off on for fear of judgement. You can do it, all you have to do is start.

Today's episode is with one of the best coaches I've had the pleasure of not only watching work, but getting to work with.

Nissa has a knack for human movement and behavior, that's for sure.

Thank you so much for coming on the show Nissa!

045: Why You Need to Forge A Positive Mental Attitude

Welcome to the first Tuesday Talk (name subject to change ha!)

This one is about a section of a book I'm currently listening to, How to Raise Your Own Salary by Napoleon Hill. This book covers in detail the 17 principles of success laid out by Andrew Carnegie.

A positive mental attitude is something you absolutely have control over, it's within your power to control this with practice. It will change your perception in a multitude of ways that will translate to a higher quality of life.

Whats up Get Uncomfortable crew! I hope you had a safe and happy New Year.

This episode may be a bit of touchy one for some but it needs to be said because we can't sweep this under the rug anymore. I hope this episode serves as a friendly reminder that it's up to us as the parents to PARENT our children. Guide them. Teach them. Model good behavior.

It's time to get serious about big goals and one I have for this show is to make it a top 100 show in a category we're in.

One way you can help me make that happen is by sharing this show with at least ONE other person. Share a clip, share a link, email them the show, or even leave a review. I greatly appreciate everyone who has done this for me!
