    Episode #41 - Best of...Theresa Halo" Ebert

This episode, we revisit Courtney's very first podcast interview with Theresa Ebert or "Halo".  They talk about being a mother of four, a hiker, and a true trail angel! Halo shares with us some of the great strategies she and her husband, Disciple, have used for memorable hikes with their kids in tow.

She also gets real with about how she manages to get in her own "me time" on solo local hikes. By the way, Halo also provided support for her husband, Disciple, who thru hiked the AT in 2017 and is legally blind. Wow!

Episode #40 - Bonus Leftovers! "What else is crazy about hiking?"

This is a very special bonus leftovers episode! We often keep talking after the "official interview" is done for the show, so this time Courtney talks to John "No Worries" and Missy "Hot Buns" Baatz, Keith "Fozzie" Foskett and Stephanie "Georgie" Quarles.
These are pretty random! We talk about the danger of random falling animals in the tropics, our pre-historic connection to living outside and trails, and finally, the way in which our stories can help inspire others.

    Bonus guests original episodes:
    John and Missy Baatz

    Keith Foskett

Episode #35 - Patrick "Dosu Kinuta" French - "Why do you answer the SAME hiking questions over and over again?"

In this episode, Courtney talks with Patrick "Dosu Kinuta" French, a hiker with over 20,000 miles under his boots. They talk about the variety of trails to be found here in the United States and abroad, how he came to "walk the earth" for so many miles and they answer the question: "Why do you answer the SAME hiking questions over and over again?"

As a New Hampshire native Patrick has taken the State's motto of "Live Free or Die" to heart, abandoning material posessions to live life out of a backpack. Most of his life he felt out of place in a society that measured how successful you were by the things you owned. He found his true home and calling within a community of nomads called Thru-Hikers who welcomed him and filled his heart with love. He consistently pushes his limits and what is thought possible for the human body and mind to endure while helping with innovations by putting gear to the test in the worst of conditions for the betterment of the community.

Episode #32 - Steve "Mighty Blue" Adams -"Why would you hike the entire AT, twice?!"

In this episode, Courtney talks with Steve "Mighty Blue" Adams, the host of "Mighty Blue on the Appalachian Trail - The Ultimate Mid-Life Crises". They discuss the amazing trail community, what it's like to settle in and feel at home in the woods and they answer the question: "Why would you hike the entire Appalachian Trail, twice?!"

Steve's Bio: "I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2014, at the age of 62, as a complete hiking novice. Vowing never to hike again, I wrote a couple of books about my journey, and started podcasting, initially as a method of publicizing my books. Yet the podcast grew far beyond my books and kept me engaged with the hiking community. Since then, I have attempted (and failed) three times on the John Muir Trail, completed the Camino de Santiago (Les Francés), the West Highland Way in Scotland, and a second Appalachian Trail thru-hike. Then, in August / September 2022, I was able to successfully complete the TSX Challenge in California, when I summited Mt Whitney, to erase the memories of my unsuccessful JMT attempts.
Going forward into my 70s, I have little doubt that new adventures will tempt me once more. I'm still up for a challenge!"

Episode #26 - The Suttons - "How can you adventure as a family?"

In this episode, Courtney talks with Josh and Cassie Sutton about their recent trip with their 6 year old son, Harvey and about their 2021 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. Listen in as Cassie and Josh explain why they made the choice to embrace adventure, how they do not take their time for granted and they answer the question:

"How can you adventure as a family?"

Josh, Cassie, and Harvey Sutton live in Lynchburg, VA. After realizing that a healthy retirement wasn't guaranteed, they decided to restructure their life to one filled with extraordinary stories by taking mini retirements throughout their life. After having their son Harvey in 2016, they began saving for their first mini retirement in 2021, to hike the entire Appalachian Trail as a family. Harvey would be 4 years old when they began in January 2021 and finished at 5 years 4 months old. After thru hiking the East Coast, they have gone on to hike the John Muir Trail in California and continue to plan more adventures as a family.

Episode #25 - Dutch and Skunkape - "Why should you try hammock camping?"

Episode #25 - Dutch and Skunkape - "Why should you try hammock camping?"

In this episode, Courtney talks with Paul "Skunkape" Collins, of the Hammock Hangers podcast, and Thom "Dutch" Ressler, founder of Dutchware. They talk about thru-hiking the AT with a hammock, what it is like to innovate how we hike and they answer the question: Why should you try hammock camping?

Paul "Skunkape" Collins discovered hammocks back in 2011 when he was planning for a 2012 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. His first hammock was the Clark North American. He currently owns 11 hammocks from different cottage vendors, and loves each one of them. A few years ago, in 2020 he became one of the organizers of HangCon, which is the largest annual hammock gathering event in the country, held near Tampa, FL. Paul now has a podcast on the Hiking Radio Network.

Episode #23 - Chelsea McCurdy - "What does it mean to move joyfully?"

Episode #23 - Chelsea McCurdy - "What does it mean to move joyfully?"

In this episode, Courtney gets unfiltered with Chelsea McCurdy. They talk about what it is like to notice yourself slipping into a depressed state and how hiking can be whatever we need it to be.

They answer the question: "What does it mean to move joyfully?"

Chelsea McCurdy is a plus-size, queer, autistic hiker who loves to move her body joyfully outside in nature while healing her heart at the same time. A self-proclaimed beginner hiker, she wants to teach everyone who joins her that our bodies are capable of doing hard things and that we are able to go on adventures no matter our size or fitness levels. We deserve to feel the sunshine on our bodies.

Episode #22 - Joseph "Whiskey Joe" Ryan - "Is it hard to thru hike with your best friend?"

Episode #22 - Joseph "Whiskey Joe" Ryan - "Is it hard to thru hike with your best friend?"

In this episode, Courtney talks with Joseph "Whiskey Joe" Ryan. Joseph completed his Appalachian Trail thru hike in 2021 with his best friend, Travis/Roosta. They talk about what life is like before and after a thru hike, Joey's signature "Whiskey Joe" drink and answer the question: "Is it hard to hike with your best friend?"

    About Joey Ryan:
He started backpacking at age 11 through his boy scout troop and received inspiration from his uncle to thru hike the AT. He went on his first AT section hike at age 15 and realized that the trail life is where true freedom lies. Since then, a lot has changed, but his love for the outdoors has not. On May 9th 2021, Joey and his lifelong friend Travis/Roosta set out to thru hike the AT. He had taught Travis most of his outdoor skills and shared his dream of being a thru hiker. They stuck together for the entire trail and completed the goal they had originally set, together.
