Do you have your own Board of Directors for your Career?

Do you have your own Board of Directors for your Career?

In this episode I reached into the archive and pulled out a wonderful snippet where Judith Beck and I talked about having advocates and your Career and essentially setting up your own board of directors for your Career.

Judith Beck had a stellar career in recruitment with Financial Recruitment Group, an executive search company she founded in 1995. Over her career, she has successfully placed thousands of candidates at senior to managing director level within the finance industry.

What Judith learnt from recruitment led her to start Financial Executive Women (FEW) in 2013, an organisation that promotes the positive progression of women in the finance industry through experience, guidance and support. Judith passed the FEW business to the next generation in 2020 and her passion remains to ensure women have the right support systems to advance their careers.

Are you on the road to burnout? What can you do to reduce your stress?

Are you on the road to burnout? What can you do to reduce your stress?

This week  in the Lady Leadership Jess Stuart and I talk about dealing with burnout in your career. Jess had been so focused on her career for so long that she got busy and was going along blindly in her life, it was a slow burn.  She had lost energy and couldn’t sleep but was tired all the time. She started checking out from things that she enjoyed. She withdrew from spending time with friends and going to the gym. She was so proud of her the life she had created but it wasn’t working for her. She found she wasn’t living in the moment.

Jess threw her life up in the air. She literally burnt out - she spent the next couple of years trying to get to re know her self. There wasn’t a real plan. She decided that she was going to try a whole bunch of things that she enjoyed and see what worked. She went travelling and learnt so much about a different life for herself,

Jess shares these strategies in her new book from Burnout to Brillance! I absolutely loved this chat with Jess and I know that you will as well. Jess has so much wisdom to share in this space.

In this episode Jess shares her principles that reduce overwhelm and how you can implement these.

Have a listen to the chat that I had with Jess I know that you are going to love it.

Argh - how can I deal with overwhelm with Lynne Cazaly

Argh - how can I deal with overwhelm with Lynne Cazaly

This week I had an absolutely delightful chat with Lynne Cazaly on the Lady Leadership show! Lynne has just written a new book ‘Argh’ A practical guide to outsmarting overwhelm, this book shows how to outsmart feelings of overwhelm and includes practical tools to better manage emotions!

As the impact of COVID has reminded us, the world can be an unpredictable and overwhelming place. Our experiences of overwhelm can impact us at home and at work and often form a regular part of our daily lives. But it doesn’t have to be this way. These feelings of overwhelm can be outsmarted.

In her new book, Argh!, Lynne Cazaly provides readers with powerful techniques to make sense of our overwhelm, and discover new ways to work and cope with all this information. Lynne says it comes down to acknowledging our emotions and better managing our workload. Drawing upon decades of experience she outlines useful tools to help filter information to avoid burnout that general feeling of ‘too much on’.

We talked about getting it out of your head, which Lynne calls sense making, emotional regulation and then using Agile ways of working to manage the workload plus the Pomodoro technique which is 25 mins of intense focus!

This is not a conversation to miss out on!

Are you a Middle Manager? Making more Impact with Rebecca Houghton?

Are you a Middle Manager? Making more Impact with Rebecca Houghton?

B-Suite leaders are today's middle managers, the glue that holds organizations together, translating strategy into action and creating high-performing workforces. Yet the B-Suite is stretched thin. They are too junior to be 'in the room', yet senior enough to be looked up to by their team. They are expected to provide information, decisions, and direction and often have little to go on.

It can be a frustrating space, and their development is often overlooked. Yet enabling these B suite leaders to adjust to the new normal, and to have an even greater impact is a huge win for any organization. So, how can you gain greater control over the pace of work and influence outcomes more easily?

Join me as I chat with Rebecca Houghton regarding controlling the pace of your work, your reputation, managing your boss, and making more of an overall impact in the work that you do.

Talking Diversity with Llani Kennealy from UN Women

This week I had the great pleasure in catching up with Llani Kennealy!

Llani is a Military Liaison Officer - Women Peace and Security Team and UN Women & Chair of Women's Military Network. Llani is currently based in New York.

Llani Senior Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, and human resource professional who is an innovative, passionate, technical gender expert, practitioner and change advocate focused on delivering outcomes and leading cultural reform in large organisations that enhance women’s equality and empowerment.

As the Military Liaison Officer to UN Women in NY, I fulfil the role of the subject matter expert and provide responsive, contemporary advice to the executive and colleagues on the development of policies and programs aimed at increasing women’s participation in the security sector. My primary focus is on increasing the participation of women on UN Peacekeeping Operations. This is achieved through working closely with colleagues other UN entities working on the uniformed gender parity strategy.

I absolutely loved this chat with Llani - we discussed how and where Llani grew up and how she started working in the gender and diversity space and some of the challenges that she has encountered along the way!

If you are interested in how we improve gender diversity in the workplace and in corporates - please tune in. Llani also shares her recommendations in this space.
