    Sunday Snippet: Cannabis and Exercise!

    Cannabis and Exercise

This show is for those who are curious about cannabis, and today we have one of my favorite topics!

    Why does this topic matter?

I love this topic for so many reasons!

First, on this show we talk about misconceptions…there’s no better misconception than cannabis combined with exercise.

Another reason why this topic is important…exercise impacts SO many parts of the human body…your respiratory rates, metabolism, cognition, etc…do we not think that cannabis, which acts as a “master regulator,” won’t be involved?!

What is stretching? What am I referring to and in what sense?

“Stretching” refers to the practice of extending or lengthening muscles and tendons to improve flexibility and range of motion in the joints.

Muscle and Tendon Lengthening: When you stretch, you gently pull on specific muscles and tendons, causing them to lengthen. This action helps to increase your flexibility and can reduce muscle tightness and stiffness.

Types of Stretching: There are several types, including:

    • Static Stretching: Involves holding a stretch in a comfortable position for a period of time, usually 15-30 seconds.

    • Dynamic Stretching: Involves moving parts of your body and gradually increasing reach, speed, or both in a controlled manner.

    • Ballistic Stretching: Uses the momentum of a moving body or a limb in an attempt to force it beyond its normal range of motion, though this type is less recommended due to the risk of injury.

    • PNF Stretching (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation): Involves both stretching and contracting the muscle group being targeted.

WHY? Why are we talking about this today?

    For a few reasons!

I never use to stretch! I don’t live without it now…stretching is how we can maintain our overall physical activity!

It’s like tuning up your car…you HAVE to do it!

    -it also just feels good…!!!
Tune in for some other solid reasons WHY to add stretching into your routine, ESPECIALLY as we age.

    We’re talking about a new frontier today…Mushrooms!

-and guess what? You can get (some) of these on Amazon too!!

-we’ll talk about the differences and similarities between these two, of course from a scientific/anecdotal perspective!

Why is this topic important? Why do we even spend time on this?

-mushshrooms are the next big thing!…at least that’s how I see it!

-with mushrooms, we’re seeing similar and amazing therapeutic opportunities for our health as we have with cannabis, so we want to dabble in this a bit!

-again, we’ll see magic mushrooms be a part of our history for thousands of years!

In recent decades drug prohibition has hindered and suppressed valuable information about the role these compounds have played in human development.

-Luckily people want this information now, so Researchers are starting to gather hard data that backs up millennia of anecdotal and historical evidence supporting THC and psilocybin as invaluable tools that heal the mind, body, and soul.

-can’t wait to get into it!!!

Fittest at 40 Series: Embracing Mindfulness and Meditation for Mental Clarity and Calm

Welcome back! We have another fittest at 40 Friday Series!

Every week we discuss how we can consider aging in an optimal manner.

So far We’ve discussed sleep, nutrition, and exercise…now I want to discuss an often overlooked part of your development (however that seems to be slowly changing

MINDFULNESS!!! What an important topic as well!

    WHY?!?

-For me, if you’re practicing mindfulness correctly, it allows you to remember that appreciation and awareness of the present moment is essentially all that matters…and if you’re able to do that, you tend to be able to answer the “why am I doing what I’m doing” with a lot more clarity!

-if you don’t know why you’re doing what you’re doing…then you may not end up doing your most productive work…and if you make that a habit, you are not living your most optimal life!
