The Hornet's Nest

The Hornet’s Nest was produced by Sean Rose & Stephen Winchell and stars Sean Rose as Dr. Hornet. To cheer himself up Dr. Hornet dedicates an entire show to his favorite rock group, BOSTON. But without Dumblebee around to screen calls, the Doctor of Rock comes face to face with the most difficult callers in Hornet's Nest history.

In a shocking turn of events, Dr. Hornet announces that he has given up his ownership of the Shaboo Inn - and that it was his own decision. As Dr. Hornet plays some of his favorite deep cuts from the likes of Jeff Beck and Wishbone Ash to soothe his pain, old friends & foes alike call in to give him a proper sendoff. What’s next for the Doctor of Rock?

Dr. Hornet has finally discovered the identity of a prank caller who's been bothering him for months. He also discovers that this prankster has been working at the behest of Coach Craig McManus, the sports talk radio host on WRGW. An angry Dr. Hornet declares war on McManus, and an angrier McManus storms the studio to take over The Hornet's Nest.

After a chance encounter with some strange brew and an Aphrodite's Child LP, Dr. Hornet believes he has crossed over to another plane of existence, grappling with what lies beyond the material world. He opens the phones for his listeners to detail their encounters with the unknown, running the gamut from tarot readers, doors to nowhere, and even galactic fighting tournaments. Can a single hour of classic rock FM radio answer mankind's most unanswerable questions? Why not?

With business at the Shaboo Inn dwindling, Dr. Hornet hits a low point, openly considering whether or not rock n' roll is relevant anymore. He opens the phones with a simple question: What is the New Rock? Will Dr. Hornet overhaul his show.. or will Rock N' Roll prevail? Featuring in-depth discussions of Dungeons & Dragons, lo-fi chill out music, and a guest appearance by 311.

Dr. Hornet welcomes his first in-studio guest: Professor Dan Emmons, a Tolkien expert brought on to discuss the world of Middle Earth and its influence on 70s rock n roll. However, once a flood of Tolkien-obsessed callers call in, he soon realizes that he’s bitten off more than he can chew… all while the specter of a bad run in at a local grocery store chain looms over him. Will the Rock N Roll doctor make it out of the hour alive?

Dr. Hornet has a bonafide hit on his hands with his rock club - Dr. Hornet's Shaboo Inn. Feeling emboldened by this success, he decides to pay it forward and offer wisdom and advice to his listeners. Taking a cue from lyrics featured in Little Feat's 'Rock and Roll Doctor,' Dr. Hornet asks people to call in with rock and roll problems and he'll provide some rock and roll answers. 

Dr Hornet’s in high spirits, and dedicates his entire show to his favorite instrument - the bass guitar. But before long, the show is derailed by shocking news - Dr Hornet’s former kingdom, the Hornet Nation, has been redubbed the People’s Republic of Long Island and his former subjects are calling into the show in droves. Will Dr. Hornet be able to stay on topic long enough to dissect all 9 minutes of “Sound Chaser” by Yes?

Dr. Hornet runs a contest - if a listener can guess his favorite album of the year 1974, they’ll win a special prize. The prize? Two tickets to Dr. Hornet’s greatest and most ambitious scheme yet: his own rock ‘n roll club! Featuring Slade, Neil Young, and an in-depth discussion of Ringo’s Starr’s classic “Goodnight Vienna.”

It's the night after WRGW's Beach Bash, the station's annual summer event, and Dr. Hornet is in high spirits after getting to show off his DJ skills. However, he can no longer turn a blind eye to one of his worst blunders - booking the offensive Classic Rock Comedian, whose off-color jokes ruined the entire night. As listeners call in to voice their displeasure, the Doctor of Rock has no choice but to confront his terrible mistake.

Dr. Hornet is in dire straits after an uncomfortable encounter with the New Haven police, brought on my his incendiary rant at the end of the Greta Van Fleet show. Scared yet defiant, he copes the only way he knows how: by taking to the airwaves with a tribute to legendary British rock band Badfinger. Featuring puppy talk, an impromptu review of the John Cena vehicle “Bumblebee,” and a murderer’s row of Badfinger deep cuts.

The Hornet’s Nest welcomes its first guest: Greta Van Fleet bassist Sam Kiszka. Dr. Hornet is thrilled to have a member of the hottest young rock band in the world on his show, but he finds himself wavering on how he feels about their music. When a shocking turn of events occurs, the show threatens to fall apart completely. Can Dr. Hornet keep it together? Will Rock Survive?

In an unprecedented move, Dr. Hornet encourages the victims of his supervillain schemes to call into the show and tell him how he wronged them, live on the air. As an act of atonement, Dr. Hornet will play a song of their choice - even a song he hates. Will this begin a much-needed healing process and set the Doctor of Rock on the path of redemption? Or will forcing himself to sit through Dave Matthews Band’s “Jimi Thing” just push him over the edge?

Dr. Hornet announces the Hornet’s Nest’s first giveaway: two tickets to see his cover band, the Doctors, opening for Pink Floyd tribute band The Machine at legendary New Haven venue Toad’s Place. While he’s excited to finally share his bass-playing prowess with his listeners, he can’t help but wonder… what if the tickets end up in the wrong hands? Featuring Thin Lizzy, Montrose, and an in-depth discussion of Wes Montgomery’s guitar technique.

Dr. Hornet unveils his most nefarious creation yet: his controversial list of the Top 20 Greatest KISS Tracks, full of left-field picks and bold omissions (that’s right, no “Detroit Rock City” or “Love Gun”). Featuring the Gene Simmons Vault, an in-depth discussion of KISS’s 1981 boondoggle Music from the Elder, and the appearance of a former arch-nemesis.
