The Truth Of The Matter Is

Continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series, we approach the topic of giving to the needy. The truth of the matter is, giving should come from a selfless act where you simply give from your heart. However, in this day and age, with the involvement of social media, many are seeking the following of strangers in hopes of them liking their posts, videos and pictures. The question is, are people giving intentionally to benefit those in need, or are they doing so with the expectation of worldly praise and acknowledgement. Tune in to hear what Jesus has to say on the manner.

New Segment. Weekly, I have a bible study with my friend Erik, and we usually take out an hour in the week to have a conversation on two or three chapters in the book we are in. The passage of scripture we were in was 2 Corinthians 7:1-7. In all the hours I've studied, I always learned something new. The interesting thing about God's Word is that it's full of patterns, principles, and precepts regardless of the author or the book. The truth of the matter is that all scripture is  Holy Spirit breathed and inspired. Therefore, the one really making the connections is God. This week on the podcast, continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series specifically addressing the standards of God. Johnathan and Daniel speak about what is capable with Jesus Christ in fulfilling God's standard. In episode 101, we spoke about the suggestions Jesus Christ makes and how unreachable they are practically on our own. However, this week, we read about Jesus' suggestions and how realistic and reachable they are if we listen carefully and allow the Holy Spirit to help us. Matthew 5:33-48 is the text. Follow along to learn what degree we are analyzing the scripture in the context of oaths, retaliation, and loving your enemies.

This week on the podcast, Johnathan and Daniel individually share something interesting that occurred that made them feel "amused". Tune in to see if you can, in fact, learn from the advice given when it comes to encounters that are unpredictable. Continuing with the Gospel of Matthew series two weeks ago, the topic of discussion was how Jesus Christ came to earth to fulfill the law. This week, we focus on why Jesus Christ is the only one who is capable of fulfilling God’s perfect standard as Jesus dives deeper into the meaning of the laws. Matthew 5:21-32 is the text, so follow along to learn to what degree we are analyzing the scripture, in the context of murder, anger, lust, and divorce. 

New Segment which was inspired by a Weekly bible study I had with friends Jennifer and Erik. We usually would take out an hour in the week to have a conversation on two or three chapters in the book of the Bible we are in. Today, I unpack what I spoke about with Erik in a book that many people don't speak often about, and that's in the book of lamentations. Instead of a solo act, I bring a familiar voice Paul Granger to get his take on the passage of scripture in lamentations 3:31-33. 

Johnathan and Daniel take the time out in the beginning to reflect on what it means to do 100 episodes. Even though the accomplishment was acknowledged and discussed, they still made it a priority to continue with the Gospel of Matthew series as they unpack Mathew 5:17-20 with the concept of letting scripture Interpret scripture. Sometimes, when it comes to having an understanding of something exposure to other biblical texts helps or even going back a few chapters or verse is key to a healthy and Extensive comprehensive. Tune in to learn how it can be done.  

The life of Jesus Christ is often viewed as a positive soft spoken story that is able to be consumed by anyone. Although, the Suffering of all of our sins came at a hefty price that is often not understood. Perhaps words don't do enough to really drive home the burden that was paid at Calvary in ancient Jerusalem. How about a horror story then? One so brutal that it turns your stomach or causes many to leave movie theaters back in 2004 or never view the movie at all. Today Johnathan and Daniel unpack Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ.' Let's learn a thing or two about what it really meant to carry the cross for the world's sin. Even though many may like to question the legitimacy of it all, ask yourselves: If true, would your attitude and mindset change on the way you see the world?

He began selling used golf balls in his neighborhood and realized that he enjoyed generating sales and keeping track of profit margins. In his late teens, he launched a technology company that created virtual tours. He fell in love with real estate and decided to invest as soon as he turned 18. Unfortunately, it was short-lived due to the recession in 2007-2009, where Alex lost a lot of money. However, that did not keep him down. Instead, as an adjustment, he pivoted to an industry that was thriving during the recession years. Learn how his faith played a role in his success. Alex felt the need to be humbled, so that God could bring him to a place where he can be used to help many who strive to have their voices heard through podcasting. Learn more by tuning in..

Long wait for the opportunity to unpack Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that  they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Tune in as Johnathan unpacks this verse in a very deep and profound way, so you can understand your purpose in this world as Salt and Light. Understand why Jesus has left you in this world with good reason to persevere the moral integrity of this world on God's behalf.

The series the Sermon on the Mount Specifically 'The Beatitudes' comes to an end as Johnathan and Daniel finish up with Matthew 5:10-12 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Tune into part 8. It has been a while, but we are back with the usual crew, myself and Daniel. As we continue with the 'The Beatitudes', we move on to Matthew 5:9. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." We look at this verse in NIV, NLT, and AMP with good reason, tune in to find out why. Be prepared to hear out a deep perspective of what Jesus meant by this verse. Today we have a guest, John Jarman, who is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He served during Operation Desert Storm and holds a Master of Science in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from Ohio University. After coaching and teaching for 17 years, John transitioned to a career in the fitness industry. John started his own company, Summit Strength & Conditioning, and was the owner and operator for seven years until the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Now, John is the fitness director at Fircrest Golf Club in Washington State, where he specializes in golf-specific training. He is also continuing in his pursuit of a Master of Theology at Faith International University and is involved in Men’s Discipleship at his local church in Tacoma, Washington. Today, I want to unpack what we spoke about in Genesis, and I would love for you to consider the ideas mentioned and decide for yourselves how true is the concept that was brought up and does it resonate with you personally.

Continuing with the 'The Beatitudes', we move on to Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." This week, we take the time to unpack this verse from a universalistic and theosophy point of view before we dive into it the biblical perspective. With proper humerus, you will learn why all scripture needs to remain in its proper context to understand what the writer actually meant. If you cherry-pick a verse and take it out of its context, you would be surprised of how it can stink of universalism and theosophy ideologies. The Word of God is nothing to play with, it's sharper than any double edge sword and can really do a number on you if you are ready for truth. Tune in if you're up for that challenge.  

Continuing with the 'The Beatitudes', we move on to Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." We take this time to reevaluate the word 'mercy' from a secular point of view, Greek, and Hebrew aspect. In study this week, I reminded myself that sometimes if you want to dive into a word and its usage, you may want to explore what was the original writer's intention. Then you want to ask yourself; how may I be able to benefit from its variety of meanings. Portions of our Bible are written in aramaic, and Hebrew translated into Greek and Latin. As we continue into the Beatitudes, the approach needs to be, how can I be more efficient as a believer when I read His Word? Are there some interpretations I need to re-learn? How about its meaning when it comes to different passages. In its many appearances, should I view the word 'love' the same? In this case today how about the word mercy?

Today we speak with El Edwards. She has a compulsion to say the stuff most people only say in their heads. She believes that we all should be active day to day when it comes to our relationship with God. The same way we ask questions, have conversations and life sharing moments with our best friends, we should take the same approach with God. Listen in as she explains what she believes is her calling as a follower of Christ. She believes it's to help people become more 'Youier'.

This week we continue with 'The Beatitudes.' We revisit  why having biblical hermeneutics is important when reading scripture for interpretation. We dive deeper into how grammar plays a role  when trying to justify the usage of singular or plural terms in the subject of the sentence. We break down: hunger, thirst, righteousness and satisfaction, and their meanings when expressed in Matthew 5:6 from a biblical framework.

This week we continue with the 'The Beatitudes'. Not prepared for what God may reveal next, I asked myself, if we never check the Greek translation and only read the Word of God in English, could it really hinder our understanding of what the original writers wrote and meant? Is it really a must, to check certain words in Greek or Hebrew or can the English translation do just fine for basic comprehension? Myself(Johnathan) and Daniel unpack Matthew 5:5. As we dive deep into the word 'Meek', you will see why I asked that question and why you should too. Could it really matter? Similar to part 2, there are two ways that I have interpreted the second half of the verse. I'll leave it to the listener to agree with one of the two or none of the two. Maybe there's a third interpretation.
