The Truth Of The Matter Is

Going into this week's episode, I was excited to prep for the podcast. Continuing with the 'The Beatitudes' in my mind I was ready for what God could reveal to myself and Daniel. Exploring God's Word sometimes can truly be fascinating. I'll speak for both us when I say, we were not expecting to dig as deep as we did. It felt like we were swimming in the deep waters with nowhere to come up for air. We started out believing we will cover more than one verse, but just like Christimas day, we really camped out on a single verse and extracted everything out of it. Today we have a new voice that joins the show. Yvette Walker is the creator and host of the Positively Joy podcast. She writes Christian song lyrics and is a Bible journaler. Ms.Walker has worked in media for most of her career. Currently, she is an Assistant Dean at Gaylord College at the University of Oklahoma. She is the chair of the Education Committee of the Society of Professional Journalists, and has been inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame. She has also been a newspaper and online editor. Ms.Walker has degrees from the University of Missouri and Northwestern University. Tune as she speaks about her faith/career. At one point the light started to dim but then she was able to brighten that light again hear how she was able to do that in the midst of it all.

I was asked, What's the value and my response was to let Jesus Christ Love, Light and Truth shine through me.  Towards the end Terrance McMullen suggested a hypothetical (and provocative) scenario   If Jesus were here today and was given 2 options: His name is recognized by all, his message is spread around the globe, and there are millions of people who worship and celebrate his very existence — but we still struggle as humans to fully live into his teachings; or His name is never mentioned again, he is forgotten, has no relevance in history, and is worshipped by no one — but his teachings are embraced by everyone in the world…He  believes, if what we are told about Jesus is true, that Chris  wouldn’t even consider the first option.  Terrance felt that the idea of majoring on recognition and worship above the ultimate goal is inconceivable. Possible Part 2 ? Who knows.

Normally on Christmas day, the topic of discussion in church is on the celebration and birth of Jesus Christ. However, on "The Truth of The Matter Is" podcast, we decided to take a different approach on the topic of who Jesus Christ is at a much older point in his life. As we continue with the Gospel of Matthew series and for this day, we decided to unpack Jesus' Sermon on the Mount; specifically 'The Beatitudes' to begin. In 2010, Matthew believes the Lord Jesus Christ brought him to his knees in repentance and out of a false gay identity and related addictions. He founded a nonprofit and is a missionary based in Cambodia next to Vietnam. He believes in sharing his story and the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ with the LGBTQ+, while helping churches evangelize them. Matthew is an author of two books "Straight: An Exgay Prodigal Story" and "Straight 2: Exgay Adventures in Christ." Continuing with The Gospel of Matthew series, I must admit this week in preparation I was super excited to begin with chapter 5 the Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes. Then something stopped me and that was There’s a lot to God’s word that we need to examine and consider. If It’s in the scripture we need to go over it because it’s there for a reason... the goal is to find the value in it and discuss it. We have to understand that every single verse can be Beneficial for our learning part of it is allowing God to Reveal it. He enjoys sharing what it truly means to have crazy faith, how to persevere through hardships and how to hold firm to the belief that God is God and God is good no matter the circumstances. Last week we discussed the Genealogy of Jesus Christ and the importance of history of it's past and present members; The collection of historical records and documentation that delve into the family tree of the Son of God and the generations that begin and end with him. This week we want to touch on the "Preparation of the Way", using both the Gospel of Luke and Matthew to see how things were at work from the beginning of Jesus' ministry, after His baptism. Tune into the journey and see what transpired in between.

On today's episode we begin The first Gospel written, which is Matthew.  The Gospel of Matthew was written for several reasons; to prove that Jesus Christ is Isreal's long awaited messiah "The Anointed One"; that He is the king of all the earth, not a religious leader; to make plain The kingdom of God hence the expression "The King of Heaven." Today we will explain the importance of the genealogy of Jesus Christ and why we shouldn't skip this portion of Matthew or even Luke, but study to see God's reasoning for inspiring this aspect of His word.

Hes an author of Several books: “Enduring trails God’s way", "A father offers His son" ,"Your finances God's Way", "Work and Rest God's Way",and his latest book "Your marriage God's Way."  Pastor Scott is also a conference speaker. He holds a Masters in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. Scott and his wife, Katie, have nine children and they are passionate homeschooling advocates. It was John who said that, "We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God, accepts this testimony." With the conclusion of Luke today, we will unpack the power of God's testimony and the impact it has on the life of a believer and believers. Why is it that  people need to see something to believe it instead of trust in the testimony? Why was it a struggle then and till this very day? Tune in to learn why. 

As a philosopher, in the early stages of my life I was caught up in the existence of God. I read books. I  researched for hours upon hours. In the words of Albert Einstein, "Im just curious." I then realized that there are two types of arguments which believers and unbelievers will engaged in. It is , where's the proof of this Jesus? And how does Jesus reveal himself to us? The complain is God hasn't supernaturally shown himself to me and until He does I will remain skeptical. Today on 'The Truth of the Matter is' I will address this from a historical, philosophical, and biblical point of view. 

What makes God different is his ability to be all knowing, all powerful, and his presence fills all corners of the earth. The truth of the matter is, God is the only one of his kind and therfore He is the supreme authority. God answers to no one. As we continue through the Gospel of Luke, today we stop at calvary as we unpack the dialogue between two theives and Jesus as all three are being crucified. Something transpires in that conversation that is meaningful to our learning. Tune in to understand what that means and how you can educate another on God's grace and mercy. 

If there's one fact about life that many of us would tend to agree about;  it would be that life is full of opportunities. A chance to change the narrative that one may have about you. Without question, there will be circumstances that will allow you to make it possible to be seen in a different light. As we continue to read Luke there's more to unpack even in the crucifixion narrative. Jesus demonstrates two characteristics that we can learn and add to our character. Tune in to learn from Jesus Christ at his lowest, as he teaches "us" the reader's a master class on life. Take note on two lessons that we can apply as we strive to be just like Him and see Him one day. 

With the establishment of "The Truth of the Matter is" podcast, our ultimate goal is to provide perspective. One thing that is clear when reading God's word is the multiple lens available to understand scipture. Perspective is important because it leaves opportunity for nuance, opening the door for clarity and comprehension. This week on "The Truth of the Matter is", we take a trip down memory lane and go through the book of Luke. We want to point out different portions of text that made us ponder on things, and found startling discoveries. Sometimes as you read God’s word, you will come across scriptures that will have you searching for answers or even have you taken aback and dare say, be tough for you to process or wrap your mind around it. We hope after today that we can teach you to sometimes pause and consider what’s being said instead of continuing to read without recognizing the potential significance of a verse or passage in context.

Has there ever been a moment in your life when you prayed but felt like it didn't make a difference? You started to believe that praying was worthless because you saw no results. In christian circles, the question has been, "What is the devil after?" Is it your money? How about your house? Your car maybe? On today's episode we hope to answer that question through a biblical lens. We also explore the ending of relationships and friendships. What are some of the reasons why they end? How can it be avoided? You won't want to miss this conversation.  

I think we all can agree that life is full of surprises. There is no way of knowing how all things will play out. What I do know is having Jesus as a friend has plenty of benefits. Putting your faith in Him allows all things to work together for your benefit and according to his purpose. Today we will look at scipture to see that there is nothing God can't do. He can save you from predicaments that were self inflicting, reposition you to be on right side of track, and be with you when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. No matter where you are, having God on your side can change things. He could give you another chance to do better and be better, so take it.
