Scaling in 2027, Autonomy Levels, and Why Tim Loves Otters

As an independent subsidiary of Daimler Truck, we work closely with them as we're developing a Level 4 autonomous truck in their Freightliner Cascadia. So when they have a big event talking about when we'll have a commercially viable product, it's important to not only take note, but why. Join Tim and Adam as they discuss why it's significant, but not earth-shaking, what the different levels of autonomy are, and also find out why Tim loves otters.

Tim and Adam Fanboy Over Dr. Charles Reinholtz, the Gandalf of Robotics

Tim and Adam Fanboy Over Dr. Charles Reinholtz, the Gandalf of Robotics

Tim and Adam welcome Dr. Charles Reinholtz to this episode of 'Trucking Forward.' Dr. Reinholtz recently retired as Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was at Virginia Tech previous to that position.

Since 1983, Dr. Reinholtz has taught thousands of students about autonomy and robotics. Importantly, though, he channeled his vast knowledge of engineering into student development and hands-on learning, including competition teams and projects. It can be said that he and his teachings were the spark for not only Torc's founders, but for autonomous vehicles as a whole.

Listen in as Tim reminisces with one of this professors, and both he and Adam fanboy out over a genuinely devoted teacher.
