What a glorious day!! TV And A Movie welcomes our first guest and it’s rapper/podcaster/movie creator Ryan Martel!! And he’s brought the eerily prescient 1974 classic Death Wish with him so expect to hear ALL about the “curse” that is ‘70’s pacing!! Troy was *literally* 5 when this movie came out so cue “he’s old” comments now!! Boy howdy, our finger guns are FULLY loaded!!

Death Wish follows the story of Paul Kersey (played by Charles Bronson and his incredibly rough face), a “bleeding heart liberal” who quickly learns that the hospital/law enforcement system does NOT work in his favor. So he takes matters into his own hands! The filthy city of New York & Times Square has never looked filthier!! Listen as we marvel at a world before social media (and a surprisingly firm stance AGAINST electroshock therapy)!!

We address crevice sand, Jeff Goldblum’s awkward face, ‘70’s blood, and the pussy-ass bitch of a son-in-law (come on, dude…even we gun control supporters are laughing at you!)! Sweathog talk!! (Hi there…) Hat pins!! And seriously…FUCK the police!! How many muggings can occur in one movie? Can the nude body be admired in a violent setting? Is art art if no one hears it? (And does life imitate art or art imitate life or life imitate art imitate life [whoa]?) All we know is that we’re tired of the devil getting a bad rap and we DON’T want an invite to your racist as fuck party!

Fix yourself some liver and spaghetti and consider this episode an audition for TR And A Movie! (sorry, V).

Trigger Warning – This episode contains references to physical, mental & emotional abuse.

Eat a hearty breakfast and get those Kleenex ready! We get dark this week with a thoughtful, mostly serious and extra detailed (i.e. long-winded) analysis of the 1965 Gertrude Baniszewski/Sylvia Likens case as detailed in 2007’s An American Crime. This true crime story stars Elliot Page of The Umbrella Project and we wanted to give it the gravitas it deserves, since it’s a family relationship that is ACTUALLY worse than ours.

We harken back to when Sylvia was living an idyllic life in a carnival setting UNTIL SHE DIDN’T! Due to family financial misfortunes, Sylvia and sister Jennie end up under the care of the Baniszewski family and oof this did NOT work out! Family and friends gaslight, falsely accuse and ultimately punish Sylvia in horrible fashion. (And yes despite our comments, we know Trump isn’t President anymore…shuuuuuuut it) Weird dreams!! Trashy boys AND girls!! Indiana at its finest!!! Will justice win out for Sylvia? Did Evan Winters have a 4-day “chubby” look that is generally overlooked by society? Why isn’t smoking and drinking while pregnant still cool? Can you bear to hear a SECOND true crime story as well?!?! Ultimately, just know that we are taking a hard stance against murder and we DARE other podcasts to do the same!
