Slaying the Stigma with Erin Cuccio

In our final episode of the season, we chat with Erin Cuccio about shifting perspective after losing her son, Jacob. Practically speaking, we know it's a tough challenge to add to your plate when you're deep in grief. Listen as Erin describes how the Lord used drive time during multiple road trips to unravel things about herself and unveil truths about Himself. We also discuss how rainbows come in all shapes and sizes and how saying yes to help and support challenges our sense of vulnerability.

Slaying the Stigma with Jessica Latshaw

Slaying the Stigma with Jessica Latshaw

Meet Jess! Getting to know her through her role as a Gathering 2022, Wave of Light speaker, and now a friend has been a joy. She is generous with her heart and her wisdom and today's episode includes a multitude of both offerings. Peyton and Jess talk about the duplicity of grief, the concept of "bouncing forward" and the ability for loss moms to hold the tension of various emotions simultaneously. Dive into her story and find hope in your own healing journey!

More about Jess: Jessica Latshaw has a BFA in dance performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she also studied piano and voice extensively. She has performed musical theater on many stages, most notably, the Broadway tour of A Chorus Line. She has performed her own songs on cool stages, such as NYC’s The Blue Note Jazz Club, Boston’s City Winery, and the UK’s Sage Gateshead. Jessica is a worship leader at the Barn Vineyard Church in PA. She is also a podcaster, which she co-hosts with her husband TJ (The TJ and Jess Show) weekly, writes on her substack (jessicalatshaw.substack.com), and is currently in the final edits before releasing her first book—a memoir narrating losing and loving her son Luca. Home is loud and messy—mostly because of the three little girls she and TJ get to raise and not at all because she’d rather write music than fold laundry.

Slaying the Stigma with Stefani Hohman

In the next few episodes, we have pulled from past interviews to introduce you to some of the women you will meet at Gathering 2022.

Raised in Richardson, TX, Stefani Hohman now resides in Fort Worth, with her husband of 15 years, Marc. They have 5 children ranging from 14 to 3 years old, with their daughter Wren in Heaven. She is a professional photographer and is also in her final year of college to be an elementary teacher. She loves plants, paper planners, thrifting, camping, volunteering with PTA & Gathering Hope, watching her kids play sports and her family’s yearly tradition of going to Galveston.

“I learned about Gathering Hope a few months after losing Wren in 2018 and attended my first Gathering that fall. My anxiety almost held me back from coming, but I went ahead and signed up because I really needed something to look forward to.

I loved that there was going to be worship time and having the opportunity to listen to speakers. But just getting to go share my story with a table of other women who had also experienced loss was the icing on the cake. And exactly what I needed to help propel me through my healing.

Halfway through my second Gathering, in 2019, I knew I was signing up to be a table leader the next year. Last year, I served as the lead for the table leader team and the rest is history.”

"If we could get a piece of understanding into communities, and into workplaces...maybe that could change families and dynamics and just grief in general where we're not forced to say, 'Ok get over it and get back to work.' That's essentially what you're saying, when that's not how it is."

"We never wanted to replace Hayes. That's something we could *never* do, but our hearts still yearned for a baby and for our family to grow...It's no one else's decision of when or why you want to have a baby after a loss. That is a decision that you and your spouse make, and that's all that matters." -Leslie Goehring
