    Building weird games controllers. (emf2022)
Games controllers are boring. They have the same few buttons in the same place. It doesn't have to be this way. In this talk, I'll go through how I've made controllers that are different and unique. These controllers are quick and easy to make with a microcontroller and Circuit Python, and theycan use almost any input device, such as slider potentiometers, rotary encoders, IMUs and touch pads. We’ll look at what’s worked, what hasn’t and how to make your own games controller. about this event: https://c3voc.de

    #114 Recap F2W 134, FloGrappling Awards 2019, Preview F2W 135

This week on the show Maine and Josh talk about the weeks grappling news, recap Fight to Win 134 in Scottsdale, AZ headlined by Marcio Andre Vs. Benson Henderson.

In the news section of the show we talk about Raphael Lovato Jr. being announced as taking a grappling match at Sub Stars.  We talk about Grappling Industries announcing their first world championships, and that it will be free to all athletes to enter.  We also talked about the NYSAC announcing that all grappling events will have mandatory blood testing for all athletes.  Plus some matchup announcements.

In the next section of the show Maine and Josh talk about the FloGrappling year end awards; and how no one has any argument that any of the selections could be anything else.

In the recap section of the show we recap Fight to Win 134 in Scottsdale, AZ.  We talk about the main event between Marcio Andre and Benson Henderson, and how much a fast pace Marcio decided to keep throughout the match.  We also comment on how well Marcio didn’t address any footlock in the match, and the levels of not selling a submission.  In the Co-Main event we recap the rematch between Karen Antunes and Talita Alencar that saw Antunes Reclaim her Flyweight Title.  We talk about the Meta of how aggressive Alencar typically is and potentially the thought process from Antunes in coming out extremely aggressive to start the match.  In the Black belt fight of the night between Gerson Atoigue and Ron Henderson we talk about the positional work of Gerson, and how he was able to stay a step ahead and attack more throughput the match earning fight of the night honors.

In the preview section of the show, we take a look at Fight to Win 135 in Sacramento, CA, main evented by Victor Hugo Vs. Nick Rodriguez in a match Maine is very excited for.  We talk about the shared opponent of both grapplers in Roberto Cyborg Abreu and how in three matches with Hugo the most recent win was recently by kneebar.  We contrast this with Nicky Rod’s ADCC match against Cyborg that saw him take a refs decision victory.  We talk about the potential style matchup, and most likely what the pathway to victory for both is.  We also preview the rest of the card.

In the outro section of the show Maine and Josh talk about travel.

DC/DC Converters: Everything You Wanted To Know About Them (36c3)
    # Non-isolated DC/DC converters DC-to-DC converters are cheap and ubiquitous, but many still feel uncomfortable using them. In this talk I will talk about step-down (buck) and step-up (boost) converters, covering the basics in an easy-to-understand form, and touching on the knowledge you need to build your own. This talk will be enjoyable for you if you have basic electronics knowledge: you understand what voltage, resistance, and current mean. ##Outline - Theory of operation explained with illustrations - Synchronous and asynchronous converters: advantages and disadvantages - How to chose and evaluate cheap DC/DC converter modules you can buy online - Efficiency and sources of energy loss - Features you might want: Enable, Current Limiting, Undervoltage Protection - Control modes: voltage mode, current mode, and hysteretic mode - Unstable converters, and how to fix them - Switching noise, and how to deal with it - What if you need more voltage? Boost converters! about this event: https://fahrplan.chaos-west.de/36c3/talk/YYJGCZ/

Senpai - Automatic memory sizing for containers (asg2019)
Due to virtual memory and optimistic caching strategies, true memory consumption of an application, and true utilization of a system's RAM, are mostly unknowns on modern operating systems. This has always made memory provisioning a tough and error-prone trial-and-error task, but it's aggravated with containerization, where the stated goal is thinner margins and higher resource efficiency. Senpai is a userspace tool that harnesses recently developed Linux kernel features to automatically shrink cgroups to their smallest possible memory size without notably affecting the performance of the contained applications. This talk goes over the motivation to develop senpai, how it works, and success stories from the Facebook fleet. about this event: https://cfp.all-systems-go.io/ASG2019/talk/TCBLRG/

Integration of GIS in non-GIS applications (foss4g2019)

Integration of GIS in non-GIS applications (foss4g2019)
In GIS software development there is often a need to seamlessly integrate a simple or more complex GIS solutions into new or existing non-GIS applications. Depending on the non-GIS system, number of different integration technologies are used. From communication standpoint there is a client-side integration based on WebSocket technology, JS API or using more recent technologies like custom elements (e.g. Angular Elements). From complexity and functionality standpoint there is an option to use custom developed lightweight GIS or full featured GIS viewer/editor based on our own IGEO platform. This talk will share our experience and challenges we've ran into during the years of GIS development and integrations with other in-house or external systems.
