Why Snowballs, Envelopes & an Automatic Budgeting App Aren't Enough to Prosper You Financially

Why Snowballs, Envelopes & an Automatic Budgeting App Aren't Enough to Prosper You Financially

#150 // Compliance only works as long as you're compliant. Willpower is not the fuel that'll get you to breakthrough.

Do you need a different experience when it comes to your finances? Maybe you've done all the programs, followed all the plans, used all the budgeting apps "they" told you to, but you're still feeling like "this isn't it." Do you know deep down that you're meant for more in this life, and being bullied by your bank account and budgeting spreadsheets just isn't the road that'll get you there?

Here's the truth: Snowball strategies, cash envelopes and "we'll load it all in for you and organize it" budgeting apps are not enough to prosper you financially. If you do not trade in faulty mindsets for a Kingdom mindset around money, and if you won't swap out those compliance and duty habits for something with real LIFE in it, you're going to keep getting the same result every single time you stop religiously following "the program." This is the straight up reality of human nature, my friend.

So what can you do to get a different result? How can you experience real breakthrough in your finances and learn to prosper as you steward the resources God has given you?

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm going to help you feel safe enough to admit where you really are right now when it comes to your finances, and to actually assess your positioning. Then I'm going to offer you to join me in something that I absolutely know can help you get positioned to prosper in your personal finances. Does this sound like something that could really help you right now? If so, I want you to Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

How To Get a Different Result (Even When You've Gotten the Same One Over and Over Again)

How To Get a Different Result (Even When You've Gotten the Same One Over and Over Again)

#149// To get a different result, you'll have to DO something different.

But what do you do when you've been trying to do something different for so long and your results still aren't changing? What do you do when you've kind of been playing with the idea of just settling for what you've got currently because it seems practically impossible to get to where you've been trying to go for so long?

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, we're unpacking the anatomy of getting a different result, even if you have gotten the same one over and over again, no matter what you've tried. We'll look at the Biblical perspective first so we've got a firm foundation and then we'll jump into the science behind behavioral changes and neuroplasticity and how to practically change neural pathways so you can live on a different "autopilot" to get a different result consistently. Sounds like something you could use in your life right about now? If your answer is a big ol' YES, then -- Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

DO YOU NEED A FRESH START? I'm launching a brand new, 30-day breakthrough program in a little over a week called The Fresh Start Cleanse. Wellness Without the Overwhelm

    Wellness Without the Overwhelm

#147// If you want to truly prosper in this life, you're going to have to actively steward your health. There's no way around it. But, Hey! Before you hit pause . . .

I work primarily with ambitious, multi-passionate, Christian women who want to fully succeed in their life's purpose while fully pleasing the heart of God along the way. These girls . . . They are down to do hard things! But the minute I start to talk to them about actively stewarding their everyday health so they can be around long enough and strong enough to do and be all God created them for, so many of them disconnect from the conversation. They quietly back away.

They'll say, "Erica, I'm HERE for your preaching and Bible teaching, for your discipleship sessions and your practical trainings around everything from relationships to finances, and even your Kingdom business and entrepreneurial coaching, but the minute you start to zero in on this health topic . . . " That's where the resistance shows up.

Even though these gals will readily admit they are struggling with low energy, erratic mood, inability to lose weight, aches and pains, chronic stress and anxiety, or other nagging health issues, so many of them take the approach of, "I'm just gonna keep on praying and see what God will do." Let me give you a spoiler alert right now: God ain't gonna do anything if you're waiting on Him to do the part that He's actually empowered you to do!

Do you see what the real issue is here? It's OVERWHELM. The idea of focusing on wellness from a personally responsible, holistic perspective overwhelms many people because they don't have the baseline knowledge or skill-sets they believe they need (rightly so) in order to steward their health well, and then, when they realize they have to learn something new if they want to be successful, they stress that they don't have enough time in their life to learn it. And that's when more overwhelm rushes in. It's a vicious cycle, and I believe it's a scheme of the enemy designed to keep us stressed and reacting while our health continues to take a backseat for the long haul.

Is this you, friend? Do you relate? Are you experiencing this sort of overwhelm while knowing, deep down, it's time to get focused on how you're stewarding your health? If so, this episode is for you! I'm going to be breaking down how to stward your health without the overwhelm by giving you five main areas to focus your attention on, and then I'll give you a strategy for baby-stepping your way to expert-level stewarding without confusion, frustration or burning out in the process. Are you ready for this breakthrough session that'll set you free? Alright then, Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

    Relational Deliverance with Jessica Chapman

    Relational Deliverance with Jessica Chapman

#145//  A transformative discussion with Jessica Chapman on the power of maintaining relational connection as we minister deliverance in Jesus' name.

Have you ever experienced deliverance for yourself or been in the room when someone else was receiving this type of ministry? What was that like? Were there parts that were scary? Or maybe aggressive? Did it even "work?"

Are you a part of a church that invites deliverance ministers into services as opposed to operating in this ministry "in house?" Or have you ever had to go outside your church family to access the freedom that deliverance brings -- spirit, soul and body? What if it was supposed to be that you could remain firmly planted and receiving, in the house God put you in, while receiving deliverance ministry that got you the freedom you so desperately needed while also maintaining the healthy and necessary familial relationships all around you to help you walk out that newly received freedom?

On this episode of The Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm chatting with Jessica Chapman, Director of the Prayer, Prophetic and Deliverance Ministry at REVIVE Church of Tampa, about how we can experience more powerful and lasting deliverance when we receive this type of ministry within the house God has planted us in, with the people He's placed us with. Are you ready to dig in? Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

    Is Tolerance a Christian Virtue?

    Is Tolerance a Christian Virtue?

The word tolerance is heard frequently in today’s world, often in the context of discussions about race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and even religion. Is tolerance a biblical virtue? If so, what does it look like in a world where so many people have such vastly different answers to life’s most important questions?

Dr. David K. Bernard's answer will help Christians navigate the turbulent waters of modern culture while remaining faithful to Scripture.

A Holy Standard in the Church

A Holy Standard in the Church

#142 // When Jesus said He would build His Church, what sort of Standard do you think He was setting for us to follow? Can we really be Holy and Perfect as the prophets and Jesus exhorted us to be in the Scriptures?

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast I'm sharing a message I preached at our last REVIVE Church of Tampa Leader Night on the Holy Standard that Jesus has established in His Church. We're pressing past the discomfort of considering the fact that we're falling so short and making excuses, and heading straight into the beautiful truth that we can be perfected and made Holy and fit for His service when we trust in Jesus and follow Him. Are you ready for this sharpening word of leadership? If so, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

Addressing the Rebellious Spirit in the Church

Addressing the Rebellious Spirit in the Church

#141// Do you think Jesus was a rebel?

Think past the cute Christian statement t-shirts emblazoned with those words and dig into scripture instead. What do you think you'll find? Listen, I'm going to spill the beans . . .

While Jesus was definitely a "disrupter" and went against the grain of culture and those in authority, He was perfectly submitted to His Father and aligned with perfect authority. He was the furthest thing from being a rebel you'll ever find! It's this watering down of rebellion (and the twisting of its real nature) that's got the Church in a tight spot these days.

A few months ago while sitting in a quiet time with the Lord, I heard Him say this thing to my heart: "Erica, tell the Church: Listen to Me. Do it like this. Do it now." And immediately my heart was flooded with the sense that the heart of the Father was longing to pull His kids out of oncoming traffic that was sent to wreck us. His mercy, mixed with urgency and power, was palpable. This is a NOW Word out of the throne room, Church. This is a message I'm obediently delivering and I pray you will allow the Holy Spirit to have place in your heart as this word finds it's planting place in you.

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast I'm addressing the spirit of rebellion that's infiltrated the Church and convinced her she has to protect and provide for herself at all costs. I'm exposing the roots of this insidious spirit and declaring the antidote so we can be rightly positioned and prepared for what's just up ahead in these end times. Are you ready? Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

    Does Absolute Truth Exist?

    Does Absolute Truth Exist?

According to postmodernism, there is no such thing as “absolute truth." This directly contradicts the Christian belief that Jesus Christ is "the truth" (John 14:6) and that the holy Scriptures are infallible. Considering this, how can Christians effectively share their faith with those who adhere to postmodernist thinking?

Dr. David K. Bernard explains the Christian basis for belief in absolute truth and how believers can engage with those who have been influenced by postmodernist thought.

For more information on this topic, see Dr. Bernard's books Anchor Points and God's Infallible Word. Both titles are available at PentecostalPublishing.com.

When It Doesn't Look Like What God Said

When It Doesn't Look Like What God Said

#130// What do you do when it doesn't look like what God said?

We've all been there. We hear the Lord speak to our heart, we craft the vision board, we support the promise with scripture. And then . . . we wait.

Let me ask you, how well do you wait? Does doubt creep in? How about disappointment?

What do you do when you begin to believe that there's NO way that what God said could come to pass, or when you're completely gutted with the belief that it's just taking too long? How do you get back to faith in what God has said?

I'm sharing the two things you must do when it's not looking like what God said, so you can stay on the path to seeing the promise come to pass. If you're ready, grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

Does Objective Absolute Truth Exist? How can we know for sure? (Part 1 of 4) - "Prove It"

Does Objective Absolute Truth Exist? How can we know for sure? (Part 1 of 4) - "Prove It"

In this episode, which is part #1 in a 4 part apologetics series called "Prove It", Cody will lay out the logical case for absolute truth, and that you must face Jesus' absolute truth claim that HE is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

The 4 Questions that Cody will cover in this "Prove It" apologetics series are:
    - Does Truth Exist?
    - Does God Exist?
    - Are Miracles Possible?
    - Is The Bible Reliable?

If the answer is "yes" to all 4 of those questions, than Christianity is definitively true. If even one of those questions is answered with a "no", then Christianity is not true. Why Are You So Overwhelmed?

    Why Are You So Overwhelmed?

#128// Be honest . . . Do you feel overwhelmed a lot of the time?

I had a good pray and a think before I titled this episode. I knew it would seem like I was making an assumption, and we all know what happens when we assume, right? 😉 But here's something I know about the women I connect with and serve based on hundreds of conversations and message exchanges --

We're all dealing with overwhelm. We just are. And the worst part is, we're putting on a face and soldiering through it, day in and day out. We're not admitting it, we're not calling it out, and most of the time we feel powerless to make it go away.

I was done with letting the "elephant" continue to hold court in our virtual living room, so I recorded a podcast episode to call him right out. Want to take a listen? If so, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

    Teaching Truth

    Teaching Truth

It is a bad thing when we get swept up in the current of what the Apostle Paul calls “the course of this world”, leaving our minds and the ability to discern between truth and lies at the door. Rather than seeking to evaluate everything under the microscope of Biblical truth, we simply choose to believe and embrace the “truth” we like in the moment, and jettison that which we choose not to believe. It was over 25 years ago that social critic Gene Veith wrote these words that so accurately foresaw our situation today: “With no absolute canons of objective truth, the rational is replaced by the aesthetic. We believe what we like.”

    Your Sound is a Key

    Your Sound is a Key

#121// I'm sharing an excerpt from this month's Jesus Girl Gang Masterclass.

When you make a sound for the Lord, it can move things. It can stop things, it can start things. It can even sustain things. And, listen, I'm not here for the whole "Christians can't manifest anything" conversation. That is simply an unbiblical stance. If you speak the word of God out of a believing heart then you have no choice but to watch things manifest from the sound you've made. Isaiah 55:11, my friend. Also, go check out episode 88 of the podcast -- Is Manifestation a Christian Thing?

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm sharing a piece of the message I shared at our JGG Masterclass this month. Let me warn you as we step in: I'm talking quantum physics, demonic portals, conspiracies and the science of sound on this one. Are you ready to go on a bit of a Holy Spirit-sanctioned "woo" journey? If so, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

THE GBX BURN CHALLENGE STARTS FEB 27 · For years as a health coach, I avoided offering weight loss programs and products to my community because I found most of them to be toxic and trauma-inducing. Nearly every program or product I came across absolutely ignored the foundational health issues and root causes that drove the weight gain symptom to happen in the first place. Until now.

Amare, the company I proudly partnered with four month ago, just launched a new product and program that takes a foundational health approach to weight loss and healthy body composition. I'm excited to invite you into the GBX Burn 90-Day Challenge with me! Want to Stop the Self-Sabotage?

    Want to Stop the Self-Sabotage?

#118// Have you been self-sabotaging? Lately, I've been making some "big moves" in the business and ministry space. If I'm being honest with you (and that is always my intention here on the podcast), I've got to admit that I am coming up on a familiar roadblock. You see, I've been around this mountain before -- at least six times, actually -- and there's always this spot where I start to freak out and think that "it's not going to work" and "all this effort I'm putting in is going to be an absolute waste." And it's right in this spot -- every time! -- that I seemingly "identify" this really big issue in a different area of my life that needs immediate attention. So I swing my attention and effort over to this "big problem," and begin to tell myself the story, "See! This is why I can never get all the way there. This is why I don't see breakthrough."

Are you familiar with this story or any of these thoughts and "happenings?" Do you find yourself getting 80-90% of the way to breakthrough, and then it just never fully breaks through? Do you find yourself daydreaming and planning for days (and weeks and months and years) and never quite actually starting? Do you find yourself "stuck" and justifying your stuckness by pointing to past failures and pain and saying, "See, I don't want that to happen again. So I'm being so smart by not 'taking the bait' and continuing to the finish line."? Do you find yourself getting distracted with other "shiny objects" or seemingly "five alarm fire" issues and pivoting away from the fight you've been called to finish? These are all indicators of self-sabotage, my friend. I think we need to talk about it.

In this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, we're going to call out this self-sabotage stuff, understand where it comes from, and discuss Biblical principles and strategies that can help us to stop doing it so we can finally step into the fullness of victory that God has planned for us. Are you ready to get all the way there in the things God has called you into? Are you done partnering with the enemy in his strategy to take you out from the inside? If so, this episode's for you. Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

    Pioneering By His Grace

#116// Are you ready to pioneer in this season by God's grace?

It sounds like a great idea, right? "Oh, YES, we're definitely going to rely on His grace for everything we do!" But then we step in and get started, and it starts to feel like a grind, slow going -- or worse -- like you're spinning your wheels. Why isn't it working?

In this week's episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm sharing a message from a recent REVIVE Woman Girls Night Out event where I talked about what it's going to take to pioneer excellently and effectively with Jesus in this season as we bring the Kingdom. We need to be "fit" -- spirit, soul and body -- if we're going to pioneer successfully, and there are specific things you can do to get fit in each of these areas. But you'd do best to get there by His grace and not in your own strength and striving.

Are you ready to be reminded on what it's going to take to pioneer excellently and effectively with Jesus in this season to bring the Kingdom and to disciple others to do it, too? If so, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

What Is Truth: Wrestling with Absolutism, Relativism, and Alternative Facts (Re-Release from S01E21)

What Is Truth: Wrestling with Absolutism, Relativism, and Alternative Facts (Re-Release from S01E21)

For New Year's, we're re-airing an episode from Season 1 in which we discuss the question "What is truth?" We think it's as timely now as it was when we first released it and probably deserves a bit more attention than it got then. We hope you enjoy re-listening or perhaps catching it for the first time. We'll be back on our regular schedule with new content on January 13.

    =====

Truth is a tricky term these days, with everyone believing their own "facts" or having their own "truths" or "alternative facts." How does a philosopher see truth? What is a healthy pastoral way to approach and pursue truth? Is there such a thing as truth at all, let alone "absolute truth," as so many Christians attest?

Our resident pastor and philosopher dive in and bring us into a really fun and healthy conversation about truth that our society would do well to engage.

The whiskey we sample in this episode is Four Roses Small Batch Select from the always stellar Four Roses Bourbon. The beverage tasting is at 1:11. To skip to the main segment, go to 5:03.

The article that Kyle quotes in the conversation about humility can be found here. The episode that is referenced that had not yet been aired at the time of this recording is S01E23: "A Philosopher and a Philosopher Ruin Your Theology: Interview with Nick Oschman."

You can find the transcript for this episode here.

So, What Are You Going to Do?

So, What Are You Going to Do?

#113// You know the thing I'm talking about, right? That thing that's convinced you it's not going to move, and you're just going to have to deal with it, as is? Yeah, that thing. What are you going to do about it as you step into a new year?

I'm not one who's much for new year's resolutions, but I will admit that the turning of a new year consistently presents with a sense of fresh possibility. So, why not ride the wave?

And in true Positioned to Prosper style, let's go after the "big one," shall we? Let's run at fear that tries to convince us our situation won't get any better than it is right now. The fear that dangles the thing you've been wanting to see change in, or at least some positive movement on -- that thing that just needs to HAPPEN already -- right in front of you, and then says, "Not gonna happen, so just settle down and accept it already!" Yeah, let's run at that bad boy, shall we? And let's tell it who our God is!

On this episode of the podcast, I'm challenging you to go after the Big One with fresh vigor as we step into the new year. Because -- hear me in this -- you were MADE to win! Even through this thing that seems impossible, you were made to win. You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus, and in Him you have the victory. So if you're ready to get a little riled up, and then inspired to grab ahold of faith that God will do what He has promised no matter what it looks like right now, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!

How to Navigate a "Midlife Crisis"

How to Navigate a "Midlife Crisis"

#107// Have you been feeling like you're behind in life, running out of time, and lacking what you need to be truly successful?

I'd been feeling this a bit recently, and I decided to take some focused time to sit with the Lord on it. I'm approaching my 49th birthday, and it's recently felt to me like I've been wading through a bit of a "midlife crisis" season . . . for the better part of a decade! I knew I needed a good old fashioned, "come to Jesus" journaling session to get to the bottom of what was really going on here, and once I began downloading what I was hearing from the Lord, I just knew it would make a helpful podcast episode for all of us.

One of the first things I heard the Lord say clearly was: "There is never an appropriate time for a midlife crisis." Wow! So then I had to know: If there's never an appropriate time for something like this, then what is this weight I am currently experiencing, and how do I come out from under it? How can I get moving in a way that is infused with hope, faith and effectiveness that will bring ME a sense of fulfillment and YOU all the glory?

On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm sharing all the things I learned as a result of that session with the Lord, as well as the things I learned as I faithfully walked out the words He's spoken to me over the past few months. So if you're ready to know how you can break free of those "I'm running out of time and I'm never going to make it" thoughts, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!
