The minotaurs that captured her took Mairi to The Spiral of the Horned King, a gladiatorial arena that serves as a temple for Baphomet, the aforementioned monarch. No sooner has she rubbed the sand from her eyes than she finds herself in a fight...to the death!

Back to her not-so-bestial self, Mairi gives Maggie a pep talk and reminds her to keep her eye on the prize. The pair, along with wizard Grinn Oustyl, press deeper into the Labyrinth with gnolls hot on their tails. But it seems not everyone is trying to navigate the rambling territory, the three stumble upon a small hamlet (with shades of Titus Andronicus).

Mairi, Maggie, and Grinn follow the liberated modron into the twisting, turning and churning tunnels of the Underdark in search of the next ingredients for the Dark Heart talisman. They enter a new territory, dubbed "The Labyrinth" and find firsthand the threat of demons is very real.

Mairi has acquired perhaps the most volatile ingredient on her shopping list: the central eye of a beholder. However, if she wants to claim her prize she must defeat Karzikar's offspring, which has spawned from the eye tyrant's bloody nightmares. Then it's as simple a trick as finding the heart of a part of the Underdark called "The Labyrinth". Just another day for Stonedoter.

Vizeran gives Mairi nine Hells worth of a grocery list as he sends her to recover the ingredients for the Dark Heart Talisman, a ritual that will (supposedly) draw all the demon lords to one location. It's a trifle really: one egg of a purple worm, the central eye of a beholder, 6 feathers from 6 different angels, the heart of a goristro, thirteen tinmask mushrooms, some blood (or ichor) from a demon lord, and Gromph Baenre's grimoire from his sanctum in Menzoberranzan. I mean, really, how hard could it be? It's not like she'll be alone, Vzeran's inept apprentice Grinn will be accompanying her!
