Fostering Kittens: A Story of Love, Heartbreak, and New Beginnings

Fostering Kittens: A Story of Love, Heartbreak, and New Beginnings

Ever wondered what it's like to foster a litter of kittens? Journey with me, your host, Julie Marty Pearson, as I share a deeply personal tale about my own adorable fur family. You'll hear about my experience raising six two-week-old kittens and the challenges that came with their round-the-clock care. But first, I’ll account the journey that lead me to fostering this litter and how a tiny kitten named Binx is the reason why I ended up at the shelter on the right day to help these kittens in need.

Fostering kittens is an adventure, indeed! Have you ever tried to transition a kitten from bottle-feeding to solid food? I'll recount that roller-coaster ride, especially the struggles with little George, the runt of the litter, who showed no interest in wet food. But amidst the trials and tribulations, there were countless moments of joy, batches of formula, plates of food, and bags of litter, and finding my forever friend in Pumpkin the calico kitten.

On Pumpkin’s first birthday, we'll reflect on this incredible journey together. You'll learn about the importance of volunteering, donating, and fostering, or adopting animals in need. It's more than a tale of love and loss; it's a call to action. After all, what could be more rewarding than opening your heart and home to a pet in need? So, let's celebrate Pumpkin's birthday with a heartfelt message of love from me and my fur family to you and yours. Join me in this unforgettable journey of love, loss, and new beginnings!

Remember to share this podcast with your friends and family, follow or subscribe on your preferred platform, and leave a rating and review to help us reach more animal lovers like you. You can also find us on YouTube, where we'll be adding clips and short videos of our pet adventures. Together, let's make a difference for our furry friends and spread love, compassion, and awareness of the joy that pets bring to our lives.

    Lisa Wilkes: Author and Activist

    Lisa Wilkes: Author and Activist

Episode 94 of Strong Enough brings Lisa Wilkes, an author and activist who wrote her first book at the age of eight as a way to combat insomnia. It inspired a lifelong passion, and Lisa has now published her first full-length novel, Flight Path, about the romantic pursuits of a San Francisco-based flight attendant.

During this episode, Lisa talks about her inspiration to write and why it's important to her to include messages on sensitive social topics within her books. She also shares about her other passion: saving homeless cats and dogs. Lisa's love of animals even inspired her to donate profits from her book to an animal rescue. If you've ever felt passionate about a goal or a cause but weren't sure how you could make a difference, Lisa's story is for you!

    CHANGE GONE GOOD 2.0

    CHANGE GONE GOOD 2.0
One year ago, Kathleen O'Grady and Mari Weiss joined us to talk CHANGE GONE GOOD. Sooooo Steve thought it would be a good idea to bring them back on and see how their big life changes have been treating them. Life is all about taking chances and sometimes even big risks like moving back home, leaving your longtime job, and/or getting a dog. Did everything work out the way they expected? Do they have any regrets? Did they all get back together to do a play? All these questions and more will be answered, good listener. Oh wait we have one more just for you: What big change have you been wanting to make? Maybe this catchup episode will inspire you to go for it (you should totally go for it).

    Plus One

    Plus One

So you like dogs and want to add one, should you?  Let me tell you about two very similar conversations I had this week about two families wanting to add a plus one.  The results are not the same, but the conversations are of the same flavor.   If anything, I hope you learn a little bit about what to consider when adding a dog into the home.  When is it the right time? Who should you add? We are trying to build a happy home and adopting a dog, even a puppy, isn't always the answer.

    Becoming a Dog Mom

    Becoming a Dog Mom

Sit, stay, and hit play because this week, Tori & Chanel are glad to be talking about what it’s like to become a dog mom! Whether you’re a first-time dog mom, you’ve had many fur babies, or you’re still thinking “someday” you’ll get one, this episode is sure to have you looking on pet finder for your next new best friend. You’ve been warned!
The girls are sharing their adoption stories, favorite dog toys and products, and a few other tips and tricks they have up their sleeves. Plus, if you’ve been wondering “what’s going on with the Glad We Talked book club,” well, they’ll let you know what’s happening there.

    SAMSON'S SANCTUARY GONE GOOD

    SAMSON'S SANCTUARY GONE GOOD
Rickie Tice is the co-founder of Samson's Sanctuary but make no mistake about it: This isn't their first foster/rescue/dog loving adventure. And as many times as they tried to move away from it - including another entire career where they won a Grammy, people - the call of the wild or the cuddly and cute always brings them back. We talk the good of rescue, how fostering even for a weekend can make all the difference, and how we met in a parking lot where they tried to pawn off the cutest pit mix ever (I almost said yes). We love our four legged friends, don't we? You'll love the good Samson's Sanctuary brings each and every day.
