Work Up In Smoke [Life Up In Smoke 03]

Work Up In Smoke [Life Up In Smoke 03]

One of the main ways we seek meaning is our work. We were created with work in mind. But when Adam and Eve rebelled against God, not only was human work toilsome, human work became idolatrous.  Instead of work being a vital aspect of  God-honoring worship, humans began to worship their work. And that continues today!  The reason we feel so deeply the meaninglessness of our work at times is precisely because we were made for meaningful work. The reason we often feel the fruitlessness of our striving is because we were made to be fruitful. The reason we feel daily the pain of our toil acutely is because we have a deep God-given impulse to purposefully create, cultivate and contribute to human flourishing. Like so many mirages of meaning we may chase, our work, paid or not paid will eventually let us down.

S1E1- The REAL Murder on Music Row

S1E1- The REAL Murder on Music Row

In 1989, Nashville's iconic Music Row was rocked by an unexpected and seemingly unmotivated murder. Most people recall the George Strait and Alan Jackson song that made the phrase "Murder on Music Row" a commonality. However, the story of the murder of Kevin Hughes and wounding of Sammy Sadler often takes a backseat to the famous song when speaking of the notable phrase. In this episode, I break down one of country music's darkest days and the secret schemes that led to the Murder on Music Row.

    10-Time Grammy-Nominated Singer-Songwriter Jamey Johnson

Success coach and former professional golfer, Christina Lecuyer interviews the kind-hearted, introverted, INCREDIBLE country music sing-songwriter, Jamey Johnson. This episode takes you on Jamey’s amazing journey into music, the twists and turns he took to get where he is today and how he always remembered to follow his gut. Plus, a special shoutout to a foundation close to Jamey’s heart, the Nikki Mitchell Foundation.

    Jamey Johnson’s Bio:

Truth and tradition. These non-negotiable principles serve as the bedrock of the music of 11-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson, who is “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” according to The Washington Post . Indeed, the Alabama native has been acknowledged by many as country music’s north star, guiding us down a path of confession and conflict to a place of reflection and redemption. He is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards – for “Give It Away” and “In Color”-- from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He has received tremendous praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and other publications, many of which have hailed his albums as masterpieces. He was among the artists asked to set Johnny Cash’s poetry to music in the new album Johnny Cash Forever Words: The Music.

His influential album, That Lonesome Song , was certified platinum for 1 million in sales, and his innovative double album, The Guitar Song , debuted at No. 1 on the country album charts and was certified gold. In 2012, he released a Grammy-nominated project honoring one of his heroes, Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran. In addition to his own recordings, he has written songs for George Strait, Willie Nelson, Trace Adkins, James Otto, Joe Nichols and others. He and Alison Krauss recently joined Brantley Gilbert to record the song “Fire and Brimstone” for Gilbert’s new album.
