Freaks (1993)

Story: Ricky Coogan, geldgeiles Teenie-Idol und Mega-Star, soll für den Turbodünger NOXON eines Konzerns werben. Also fliegt er mit seinem chaotischen Kumpel Ernie nach Südamerika, in das tiefste Provinznest - dem einzigen Flecken Erde, auf dem der zellverändernde Powerdung noch nicht verboten ist. Die zwei verirren sich im Dschungel und landen plötzlich vor Prof. Skuggs "Mutanten-Warenhaus". Erst mal drin, machen sie eine grausige Entdeckung. Skuggs hat für das hochgiftige NOXON längst eine andere Verwendung gefunden. Er schüttet es auf ahnungslose Touristen und "produziert" so seine Monster, die "Freaks"! Ricky ist sein nächstes Opfer. Eine Körperhälfte Rickys hat sich bereits in ein richtig ekelerregendes, haariges Monster verwandelt, da geht Skruggs das NOXON aus... Aber das ist erst der Anfang der völlig durchgeknallten "Mutanten-Show" mit den haarsträubenden WURM, SOCKENKOPF, NASE, ROSIE STIFTENKOPF, BÄRTIGE DAME und JUAN, dem HUNDEMANN!

DRR SHOW 37

Das Blockbusterkino ist zurück auf der großen Leinwand und natürlich waren wir mit dabei, als sich mit Christopher Nolans TENET erstmalig seit Anbeginn von Corona wieder ein Studio entschloss einen richtig opulenten Film auf dem klassischen Weg zu veröffentlichen. Hört also zum Start von Sendung #37 Julias und Lisas Rapid Reaction auf das neueste Werk eines der bedeutendsten Regisseure des aktuellen Jahrtausends. In der nächsten Sendung, werden wir dann noch etwas detaillierter auf den Retter des diesjährigen Kinojahres eingehen. Aber zurück zu dieser Ausgabe, die nach einer ausführlichen Medienschau, der eben genannten Radionauten, auch noch weitere Filmbesprechungen beherbergt. So stürzen wir uns mit Benedikt in die Wellen, der seinen Traumkörper mit BLUE CRUSH 1+2 gleich zweimal aufs Surfbrett geschnallt hat um mit Michelle Rodriguez, Kate Bosworth und Co. gekonnt selbst die gefährlichste Brandung zu bezwingen. Gestrandet ist er dabei irgendwie auf der iberischen Halbinsel, auf der er zusammen mit Max und anderen Flüchtlingen durch „Kultregisseur“ Brian Yuzna dessen ROTTWEILER auf den Hals gehetzt bekommt. Dabei stellen nicht nur die beiden fest, dass dem trashig- reißerischen Creature Feature aber auch hellseherische Ansätze und damit eine unbestreitbare gesellschaftskritische Note innewohnen. Danach reist Benedikt vom geographische Ausgangspunkt der Inquisition ins England des 17. Jahrhunderts wo er zusammen mit Christopher Lee in DER HEXENTÖTER VON BLACKMOOR Maria Schell und anderen Damen mit vermeintlich übernatürlichen Fähigkeiten im Namen der Kirche mit allerhand Folterwerkzeug auf den Leib rückt. Obwohl das Ganze unter der Regie eines gewissen Jesus Franco abläuft, wird dieser Ausflug in eine der abscheulichsten Erfindungen der Menschheit recht ernst, zudem er hier definitiv auch eine seiner komplettesten Arbeiten ablieferte. Um die Austreibung und Bekämpfung von Dämonen geht es auch für Lisa und Julia, die sich zusammen mit Angelina Jolie und Winona Ryder nicht ganz freiwillig in psychiatrische Behandlung begeben und sich in DURCHGEKNALLT eines antiquierten Zeitgeistes und überholten Methoden der seelischen Heilung erwehren müssen. Nachdem wir nun belegen konnten, dass es auch weibliche Kuckucksnester zum Überfliegen gibt, stellt Benedikt mit SCARS OF XAVIER im Rahmen unsere Wicked-Cinema-Reihe sich zum Schutz diverser jungen Damen einem brutalen Serienmörder entgegen. Wer die Oberhand behält und ob die Figur, ersonnen von Drehbuchautor und Regisseur Kai E. Bogatzki, ihren Vorbildern gerecht wird, könnt Ihr in Erfahrung bringen bevor die Sendung auf die Zielgerade einbiegt. Auf dieser wird es nochmal reichlich albern und bizarr, wenn sich Max und Benedikt zusammen mit Alex Winter und in kleineren Teilen auch Keanu Reeves als entstellte Kreaturen in FREAKED wiederfinden. Genau die richtige Unterhaltung um die Wartezeit auf Bill und Teds musikalische Konfrontation zu verkürzen und genau der richtige Film um in diesem Zusammenhang ein paar Klicks bei Google abzustauben. Den Abstauber und Erzähler für das große Ganze gibt wieder unser Tobe, der Euch exzellent durch die Show geleitet, die auch wieder mit der ein oder anderen schönen Melodie aufwartet. Und nun braucht Ihr nicht mehr warten, sondern könnt starten, Euch zu ergötzen an unseren Geschwätzen. Viel Spaß beim Hören.
