    BT 6: Alien and Macrocosm

    BT 6: Alien and Macrocosm
BackTrekking returns again to look back at the real-world inspirations of classic Trek episodes!

Spacewomen are kicking alien ass this week as Ka1iban and GooeyFame pit 1979's "Alien" and the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Macrocosm" against each other in a fight to the death! Ripley works in space and it's time to clean up the office, while Janeway doesn't want to talk about the bonus situation, just giant virus eradication!

On this episode, we talk about the greatest movie of all time that a lot of people didn't really like when it was first released. We also talk about our mutual experiences of "giving up" on Voyager and the slow climb back, the hardworkin' HR Giger, perfecting a "haunted house movie in space", the varying generational appeal of Ridley Scott, the film's thrilling cinematic trailer, the lasting influence of "Alien", and making peahats scary!

We also have a Gooey Toe Update, Janeway shankin' fools, the Tom Skerritt Hour, a discussion of the artiness of video games and "video game" movies, #fillthetankup, the Franchiseamatron, chrome penises, skateboarding aliens, we disagree about "Us", Gooey calls George Lucas a war criminal, and Kal wants Watch Dogs chips in everyone's heads! Remember: the eighth passenger is death!

    13: Alien: Covenant

    13: Alien: Covenant
In this episode of Cringe Talk we discuss the newest film in the Alien franchise. David tries to help Matt get a grasp of who exactly the engineers were, where the aliens stemmed from, and really just what the heck was going on. We enjoyed the movie, but did we like it on an 'Alien' scale? Though we may be undecided on that front, one thing is for sure, and that's that couples make terrible decisions in space.

Reel Comic Heroes - Trailer Talk 008

Reel Comic Heroes - Trailer Talk 008

What the hell happened? That is what we'd like to know in regards to our 'The Evil Dead' episode. Everything was going just fine... until we hit record. Basically, our mic failed. Normally when we record via Skype, we stop and listen to the first few minutes to make sure everything is recording normally. We forgot that step this time. What resulted is an un-listenable episode.

Rather than re-record the entire review, we decided to recap what happened as well as cover the newest trailers for Alien: Covenant, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, and the teaser for Deadpool 2.

As this is being typed, our mic is en route back to the manufacturer for replacement.

We would love to know what you think of The Evil Dead. Please send your thoughts to reelcomicheroes@gmail.com.

Download and Subscribe to our show via iTunes, Stitcher, or your favorite podcast app. If you have a moment, it would be awesome if you could leave us a review.
